Very warm here and the midges are attacking me. I've been in the garden. The midges like the garden. No wind to deter them. Buggerations galore!

CharleyG, Mia sits outside in the back yard, it`s been baking hot, but like Synonymous says about Smokie, she just stares at me then ignores me. She does come in later though, she`s not allowed out all night, for some reason, that works OK!!

Charley I don't suppose Tara is getting shut in and likewise our Smokie. I think the nights are too stifling for them and so they stay out. We have seen Smokie in the garden and have called him to come in and he just stands and looks at us once - just the once - and then he carries on as if we were not there. Mind you when he looks at us it does seem to be pityingly as if to say "why ever would I when I can have fresh air and a good time out here?!" He will stay out for the whole night almost every other night but seems ok other than needing a good comb as he looks like an unmade bed. Smokie is into badger watching and watches while the little beast digs holes absolutely everywhere and wrecks our garden, not great when Himself struggles to stay upright! I have been trying to let Smokie out as early as possible in the mornings so that he does come in before bedtime. I put a cooling mat out for him to cool down on which he will sometimes use now that he almost trusts it not to leap on top of him and attack him. Apparently the scariest thing is when your paw sinks in and the mat starts to touch somewhere oher than your paw pad! Well, where will it end?!
As I recall from other furry family members this night wanderings phase can last until they reach the equivalent of middle age when home comforts mean more than the call of the wild! I think I heard somewhere that to get to the equivalent human age the feline age multiplier is 7 so it could take a while!

Charley I sincerely hope Tara is not getting locked in, perish the thought. Have you considered if she might be sharing her affections between two homes?

I am so sorry to hear of your son’s latest troubles Number/Callgirl (can’t get used to another new name) and wonder whether it was a side effect of the virus? I have read that people can have ongoing problems for months and as blood clots were a common feature, perhaps there is a link there? Of course his confidence will have been badly shaken but hopefully whoever is on his case will be looking out for any worrying signs in the future.
Sorry you are suffering too - could you manage very soft sock type thingies with a bit of a sole on them, just to protect the soles of your feet or even flip flops/slides?

I know I should not be complaining about the heat but we have not seen rain here for many days. It is so bad my TV has decided to stop working as did my bedroom TV also but luckily the latter worked last night so I was able to watch Line of Duty. I live at the bottom of a hill and this is the worst it has been. Come back normal weather and my viewing habits will return.

Tara came home at 8 pm last night- 10 pm the previous night. I wonder if she gets locked up somewhere by accident?

Morrison's man is arriving later- I do not envy his job in this stifling heat.

hellogirl nice to have you back. What a torrid time you’ve been having. So glad your son has pulled through and is now home again. Hope you get the results of your scans and tests soon and they are able to help you mend soon.

You've had a bloody awful time one way and another. However, you are back where you belong.

It is VERY warm and the midges are on the rampage. We've gardened all afternoon and have now washed and brushed up.

The surprise has just been delivered. A hamper of afternoon tea goodies - sandwiches, selection of savoury pastries, two boxes of assorted cakes and dainties and a wee bottle of prosecco each. From the folk next door. Now I need to say a mighty big thank you.

Try not to overtire yourselves. Take a tip from Tara...laze aboot the hoos regardless of what else is going on.

I haven`t really been posting lately, as I`ve not been in the mood for more than reading about all your goings on. After my disastrous fall in April, I managed another in June, fell off the back doorstep, which obviously made a bad situation even worse. I`ve had an appointment at Queens Medical in Nottingham for extra x-rays and blood tests, then a trip to Nottingham City hospital for an MRI, but no results as yet, and my back isn`t feeling much better, can`t get shoes or slippers on because feet and ankles are so badly swollen, so going round barefoot, therefore can`t go out.
Right, shut up woman with your tale of woe, sorry for the miserable post.
Soop, I was glad to read that you had a lovely birthday. Was your lunch at Glenbarr by any chance? I am so missing Kintyre, wish I could get back up there.
The other week we had a bit of a scare. If you remember, my eldest son has lung cancer, and started a new course of treatment. Then Covid-19 happened, and he found out that he had coronavirus! After 6 weeks he was tested negative, thank goodness, and was waiting to hear when he could recommence his cancer treatment. Then one morning my DIL rang to say that he`d had a stroke and had been taken to Peterborough hospital! Later she rang again to say that he`d had a seizure. The next I heard was frtom my daughter 3, she was driving my DIL to the hospital, over 30 miles away, as David had had another seizure and the hospital advised her to go there, earlier they`d said she couldn`t go with him. Anyway, happily, after a couple of days he was transferred to our local hospital, and after 5 more days he was home. He feels fine, but as they still don`t know what caused the stroke and seizures, even after a CT scan, an MRI and a lumber puncture, he`s constantly worried that it will happen again.
I`m so sorry ladies, I`ll try to be more cheerful in future.
Oh, here are the latest pics of my 2 youngest great grandchildren, Max and Grace. I haven`t seen them since before lockdown, last time I saw Grace she was 3 days old!
