Good Morning everyone.

I guessed right! Congratulations to the happy couple. Every happiness to your "baby girl", Marydoll on such a special occasion and well done her for bagging herself such a lovely kind Husband.

I can understand your Son's worries and fears about you but I can also see that sometimes we have to voice all our concerns and then remember to respect the feelings of others on the subject. He should be able to see how much you want this and to see his Sister happy. Sometimes you can't expect to control all of it, however you feel. I'm sure he's already regretting causing you such sadness, but I know you'll get past it and be determined to enjoy the day with the rest of your family, a fabulous new dress and those well-concealed big girl pants.

Just keep well away from the Celebrant and put on your glad rags and have a ball.....it's been a long time coming!

Kalu how many stories are there like that? What is it about foxes and shoes?!

Anyone here in pain or struggling, sending you wishes for hope and strength.

May your garden soon be sorted, Froglady - how kind you are with those books! Hope Mr Grammaretto is doing well; ditto Mr Gillybob. Hope your hip pain responds to some more kindness, Mellow and that all those away from home are having the best time on their much-needed breaks. Avoid the traffic jams and crowds if you can. Good journey home, Scentia.

Stay safe and well and have the best Saturday, folks.
Hugs from France x

Good morning Mick and all from a rather cloudy and a bit cooler today Angus coast. I can't stand too much heat these days - an age thing? - so I'm happy if the sun shines through and the wind doesn't blow. Marydoll what a wonderful surprise you kept for us all! My love and best wishes to the beautiful bride and her perfect groom, and I'm so glad the sun is shining. I know you will enjoy every moment of the day and not allow your son's absence to spoil a second. You're such a lovely, sparky brave lady ????? and every other emoji you can think of. A lovely time here over the past two days - garden art group get-together with giant strawberry tarts from the fruit farm, and then tai chi on the lawn with a coffee/chat break (and strawberry tarts of course) between sets, and all in lovely warm sunshine.
It's so lovely to BE with people around again after those lonely months of lockdown ??. Today my lovely gardener man is here. He doesn't enjoy the little things of gardening so much, but any big job and he's in his element. Today we're talking slab laying and re-laying and he's bounced away as happy as a sandboy!
Have a lovely day everyone, or at least as good as is possible in whatever your circumstances, and let's all send our thoughts to bless Marydoll and her family at her sunny garden wedding xxx ?

Another one here wanting to send my very best wishes to you Marydoll for your daughter’s wedding.

I think it sounds absolutely lovely- a small intimate wedding and in your own garden!

I am lucky enough to have been invited to a couple of very small weddings over the years and they were just lovely.

Under the current circumstances it’s completely right but even in normal’ times I have never seen the sense in spending around £40,000, which I read is average, on a wedding.

It would be far better to put that sum towards a deposit for a house surely?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Good morning all.
Just popped in to wish the very happiest of days to Marydoll and the bridal couple.
They are so sensible to do what they are doing and will have a wonderful celebration when the time is right.

Best wishes to everyone else, have a lovely sunny day.

Kalu Sat 08-Aug-20 09:48:36

Good morning all from a beautiful sunny day in Glasgow. I have had my espresso in the garden whilst making a mental note of tasks for today.
A pretty pink géranium which the birds must have planted is now taking over, similarly, the ubiquitous welsh poppy so a bit of careful digging to uproot wherever I can. We have a young fox who visits often leaving a present, today’s gift was a gents shoe!

What a perfect day for a garden wedding Marydoll. Your wish to see your daughter married to this lovely man has come true. I wish them all the best for their future. Sorry to hear your DS has decided against sharing the day.

Hope Mr. gilly and Mr. Grammaretto are recovering well.

Best wishes for a pleasant day to all.

Grammaretto Sat 08-Aug-20 09:47:16

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A comfortable 19 degrees here and due to go to 21 later. That's a good 70F, old money.
Perfect day for a wedding Marydoll
It will be so lovely and the bigger party can happen later when everyone can dress up and not wear masks.
Thanks for asking after us even in the throes of your own important events.
smile flowers

I am glad to report that MrG has had some better results today after a good night he's been having industrial strength IV antiBs, insulin etc etc

I was so pleased to see your Friday girl yesterday Gillybob that made me smile. Did I miss a good story about MrGillybob? I hope so. I saw that the order is back on course.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Blue sky and sunshine trying to break through the clouds here in Letchworth Garden Cty. I plan an easy day today. Pottering this morning and having a go at making GN receipe for lemonade scones, as my dearest sister round this afternoon to sit in our garden. She lives in a flat and loves to spend the afternoon round here. We do some knitting and , have a catch up and put the world to rights. I love it. smile

Good morning all from a warm and sunny mid-Notts. I'm not sure what today will hold for us. DD1 and DGD might pay us a visit and Mr BA is going down for a play in his workshop. Marydoll what lovely news!! Hope you have a perfect day. Hope everyone else has the best day possible and please stay safe x

Good morning Mick and the GM team.

We had a nice evening, eating our supper in the garden. I went out to set the garden table about 7.15pm and hesitated because the kitchen felt much cooler than the garden, despite the fact that the sun had moved away.
However, the air soon cleared and it was really pleasant to be out there. We lingered, with a glass of wine ...

We’ll have something easy for supper tonight.

Here’s wishing the Mother of the Bride and the whole family a lovely, happy day.
Grammaretto hoping MrG is comfortable and making good progress.
Hello to Bluesapphire, Dragonfly and Cherry, ?to those who need them. Have a good day, all. ?

I’m another one that reads this thread although doesn’t often post but wanted to wish you a lovely day Marydoll. I think a garden wedding sounds wonderful especially in the present circumstances. I hope things aren’t too sad if your son decides to stay away. x

Good morning from the NE where we have some brightness in the sky.
Yesterday was a big disappointment, we did get some warmth but there was thick cloud and sun only appeared in time for sunset. We did sit on the terrace and read so got some air.
Many congratulations to the happy couple today, so pleased it is going ahead Marydoll
Nothing planned for today, will just see what unfolds.
Take care if you are in holiday crowds.

Lins1066 Sat 08-Aug-20 08:49:38

Good Morning Mick and all from an overcast S Welsh coast.
Enjoy the cycling Mick.
Wishing your DD and new SIL a long and happy life together Marydoll. Sorry to hear that your son and granddaughter won't be there though.
Nothing planned for us today which is just fine. Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

gillybob Sat 08-Aug-20 08:35:23

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a sunny start to Saturday. It turned into a warm day yesterday but no sun and black clouds threatening to break all day. We reached around 22 degrees here on the coast .

A bit of food shopping planned for today as we literally have nothing in the house to make a meal out of . I had planned a shop yesterday straight from work but ended up having little Evie until almost 8pm . She’s just an absolute joy and so very clever for 2 years and 3 months smile

I read your post with a huge smile on my face Marydoll until I got to the part that said your DS and little granddaughter won’t be attending . I am so sorry. Might there be a chance of a last minute change of heart? I do hope so as I know how much joy she brings into your life . I can picture your garden and how it will look and I’m sure your DD will have the most wonderful and extra special wedding day......come on how many brides in the U.K. get to marry in their parents garden? Not that many I would guess. I will be thinking of you all today . ? ? ? ?

To Grammaretto I’m so sorry that I missed that your DH was in hospital and has had emergency surgery .I’ve been so wrapped up in myself and my own DH for the last few days (well months) . By the time I caught up with the thread yesterday it seemed too late to post anything else. Please forgive me. I do hope he’s recovering well when you see him today . flowers

Thinking of our missing friends especially BlueSapphire, dragonfly and those feeling poorly or under the weather especially CherryCezzy .

Hope we all have the best Saturday possible . Love Gillybob xx

I’m not a regular on the Good Morning thread, but am so pleased to have looked in just in time to see the wonderful Marydoll’s surprise news!

I’m wishing you and your family all you wish yourselves today and for the future, Marydoll. May the sun shine down on you and the bubbles flow. sunshine God bless. thanks

Carrying on! The leek plants have arrived and need to go in today, not looking forward to being on the allotment in this heat. Have a good day everyone.

Georgesgran Sat 08-Aug-20 08:33:35

Good Morning from Durham -not a cloud in the sky. Yesterday was very warm, overcast and muggy here - not good. Highlight of the day was a trip to Virgin to complete a 12 month savings thingy. The excitement of it!!

So sorry to hear Marydoll’s sadness, despite her looking forward to this ‘special’ day. Bittersweet indeed.

Isn’t it strange how some people sail through life with barely a hitch, while others seem to lurch from one crisis to another? Recently, if I get a year without some sort of ‘disaster’ I start worrying what might be next on the cards. DD1 says ‘fear the worst and then it might be a pleasant surprise’.

Hope everyone has the best day they can.

Have a lovely day Marydoll, and best wishes to the happy couple. We are home again after a few days in the Cotswolds. I'm glad that we didn't have the high temperatures while we were away. We saw lovely gardens at Hidcote and Snowshill Manor and wandered around the pretty Cotswold towns, and bought a lovely small military chest which ideal as a coffee table in our sitting room. The

Good morning from a very hot and sticky Black Country. Did the ironing at 7.30am yesterday before it became too hot.

So hot yesterday, so went for a walk along the Staffordshire Railway walk as it it all in the shade. It was so pleasant. Had a BBQ in the evening and we were sitting outside until after 10pm and it was still very warm.

I hope the wedding goes well Marydoll and your DD has a long and happy marriage. It is such a shame that everyone cannot be there though, but I am sure it will be a lovely day for you all.

I really need to pluck up courage to have my hair cut and highlighted Urmston, I keep saying to myself next month!

Hope MrKitty had a lovely birthday Kitty

Wishing everyone a good weekend
