Hi all,
I am traumatised. It was disgusting. I feel sickenvy(not envy). X

Callistemon but if we did that , what would we do with paintbrush in one hand and the pot of paint in the other?

Sometimes you have to think these things through

Callistemon Tue 11-Aug-20 10:19:36

It's far more interesting to look at something which needs painting, you can find all kinds of interesting patterns. Much more riveting than gazing at a blank wall.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 10:17:19

Ann sixty I hate to believe that about the debt to HMRC, bloody incompetence.
However, it was far too interesting for this thread, so you’ll have to try harder to be boring , sorry.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 10:15:33

I’m very tempted to go and paint something just so that I can watch it dry, however, the twist will be that I will actually Time It!

I wonder if the more coats you put on the longer it takes to dry? When I painted the mirror the paint was practically drying on the brush.

Blast it, just dropped ice cubes all over the floor ! Lol whatever will happen next? What am I like ? Don’t answer that.

Tune in later for more exciting news from Oxfordshire

Feelingmyage55

oopsadaisy I read all the way through to ask if you had a magnet but got beaten to it. What are you making with the flat headed pins? Patchwork?

Oh, is that what the flat headed pins are for, Feelingmyage! The ones I won were flat headed pins and I won them at a quilting exhibition.
Duh!!

This thread is a mine of information.

annsixty it's riveting!!

Cold tea, soggy toast, pins in your feet and now dear Hattie.
What more could we need?

The success of this and other threads by Flying tells me we need some escape from Covid and similar! brew

Lexisgranny Tue 11-Aug-20 09:22:49

I have the highlight of the week to look forward to this evening - watching my husband put the bins out. This heady pleasure comes quite close to being surpassed later in the week by the arrival of the supermarket delivery. Sadly I checked the old tins of paint and they have skimmed over, such disappointment.

Witzend Tue 11-Aug-20 09:19:23

Black tea isn’t too bad cold - I often down half a mug to avoid wasting it.
Tea with milk tastes ?to me - I know I’m weird, though!

annsixty Tue 11-Aug-20 09:12:26

Actually ,though this is totally irrelevant, but isn’t that the point of this thread, try listening for two separate hours, one on Friday and one yesterday, to a bereavement officer trying to explain to me why I must pay £154 for an error HMCR made 4 years ago in my mt H’S tax.
Mind numbing couldn’t come close.
When I said I really didn’t think it was up to me to pay for their long-standing mistake, he actually said “ well of course it isn’t just you, it is the whole family’s problem, perhaps they should all chip in.
You really couldn’t make it up,.
After speaking to a friend who is a retired District Inspector, it really is a fact that I should pay this, so all you widows may get a similar demand.
Sorry for that digression, as you were with the cold tea and drying paint.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 11-Aug-20 09:00:35

Well flying, cold tea is something which rarely bothers me as I insist on drinking it before it goes cold. I like to sit quietly and drink my tea without any distractions whatsoever, often not even conversation which isn't a problem at the moment as I've not had a visitor for weeks.
Something trivial which annoys me is when I'm sewing. As I begin to sew I sometimes clumsily nudge the thread out of the needle and must re-thread it. FFS. Apart from silly things like that I love sewing.

annsixty Tue 11-Aug-20 08:57:42

Currently the whole of my day is so interesting (not) that I would win hands down.
I have had a lovely memory of my H though.
We were having a few days at Chatsworth and were on a walk.
I pointed out a pied wagtail in the shallows of the stream and later was very excited to see a fisherman pull a very large trout from the river
H just said “if only I could find some paint to watch drying, my day would be complete”.

Charleygirl coming up on the inside, might be a strong contender.......

MawB Tue 11-Aug-20 08:48:55

Sorry Oopsa too interesting.......until your final sentence, that just qualifies you for this thread grin

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 08:44:53

Thirst! Or maybe thrust..

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 08:43:49

Well actually, I’m making masks, GCs are going back to school and the general consensus is that Nannys masks are less irritating and itchy than the store bought disposable ones, so I’ve made about 15 so far and then had to wait until more sewing thread and elastic arrived. I have found the magnet and will keep it safe close to my machine.
Today I have my first hair appointment since February, (so much for going au Naturel! ) Not looking forward to it though, far too hot and wearing a mask for 3 Hours doesn’t fill me with joy but it the ‘no loo’ that is worrying me.
Flying I have many tote bags that I have made, due to everyone having to use their own bags when doing the shopping, now we are all having the shopping delivered in carrier bags they are languishing upstairs.
We all have quilts so I can’t thirst another one on anybody. Yet.
More exciting news from my day to follow......
Damn it ive just taken a sip of cold coffee, it was disgusting, DH made it with milk that is obviously off.

Charleygirl5 Tue 11-Aug-20 08:42:57

Watching a blank TV screen and willing it to work- which it did not.

MerylStreep Tue 11-Aug-20 08:35:35

Ann
I feel your pain ? but why not join the excitement ( where's the sarcastic emoji when you need it) and tell us the most mundane thing you did yesterday or the day before.
So far MawB has my vote with paint drying.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 11-Aug-20 08:35:29

We are doomed

annsixty Tue 11-Aug-20 08:23:40

What has lockdown lead us to?
101 (with mine) posts about cold tea.
There is no hope for any of us.

MawB Tue 11-Aug-20 08:11:23

Charleygirl5

If you do not mind I would like to keep Hattie company and you would not have to worry about either of us for a couple of hours and then water for Hattie and coffee for me. Simples.

Hattie had a lovely cool walk through the fields and is now resting her eyes while I drink my tea

Lucca Tue 11-Aug-20 08:09:05

Worried I may let my toast go cold, or my cereal go soggy.

I’ve just walked the dog and am drinking my tea- and it’s still hot.

BlueBelle

This is getting more riveting by the minute the excitement is killing me

And keeping you awake by the look of it !

Lisagran Tue 11-Aug-20 06:43:01

I’ve been asleep, but now I’ve woken up
