Me neither! grin

It's been nigh on impossible to avoid comments and opinions in the media but I do agree that if Harry and Meghan have not colluded with the authors why aren't they suing the pants off them?

I googled Women's Suffrage in America because I didn't know if there was an actual centenary date. This is all I could find:

The Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, establishing women’s right to vote, was adopted on August 26, 1920. The centenary of this event is being broadly celebrated throughout 2020.

In other words, she could have picked another day - which is exactly what my RN son in law said when he spotted an article about her speech on Saturday. His grandfather served in the Burma Campaign and we were just about the watch the VJ Day National Tribute.

I presume H&M have dispensed with any advisers now.

Nannies will have to live in though, so some of those toilets and bedrooms will be for staff wont they?

Namsnanny Mon 17-Aug-20 12:18:03

I didn't really understand the phrasing g and choice of words M used! Let alone the faxt it didn't seem to reference the occasion.
I got the gist though, who couldn't, me,me,me.

Camilla Long wrote in yesterday's ST, pondering on the new home which allegedly now has 16 bathrooms, "an apocalyptic number of bathrooms" she wrote, possibly highlighting the "inadequacies of the paltry powdering stations at the last place?" she went on to conclude "Could it be that 12 bogs were simply no longer enough for all the crap this couple spouts" Those were her words not mine, I hasten to add!

Not enough lavatories to go round is a hideous state of affairs imo and can only contribute to even more toxicity not only "out there" but also inside one's abode. Hopefully they are both well catered for in that department now. I'm sure any plumber would be delighted to roll up to their gaff to unblock any toxic build up should that occur in one of their regal lavs! or maybe Harry, having time on his hands and realising loads of dosh is required to maintain said gaff, might get the urge to don a pair of Marigolds and acquaint himself with his own numerous u bends shock

Chewbacca Mon 17-Aug-20 11:57:51

They just haven't got the hang of less is more have they? If they tried, just a little bit harder to keep their mouths closed, they might just find that interest in them wained. But I don't think that's what the really want at all.

Namsnanny Mon 17-Aug-20 11:54:34

I suppose every opportunity to speak publically is an opportunity to repeat their perspective.

Framilode Mon 17-Aug-20 11:33:37

According to Omid Scobie PH was pretty rude to Angela Kelly and, by the sound of things, shouted at the Queen about her..
I think he has made a tactical error there. The Queen is well known to be extremely loyal to her staff and I understand is very close to Angela Kelly. I can't see that having gone down well.

maddyone Mon 17-Aug-20 11:19:02

I truly wish they would shut up. They are an embarrassment to Britain.

On 15th August while members of the RF were attending services of remembrance for the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, Harry and Meghan both participated in Zoom calls from their latest mansion to promote compassion.

Sounds good!

Harry spoke with Invictus Games athletes encouraging them to 'check in on eachother.'

I thought it was highly appropriate.

Meghan referred to her 'personal experience in the past couple of years,' while speaking at a virtual conference for 'The 19th Represents' to celebrate the centenary of women's suffrage.

'There is so much toxicity out there in what is being referred to as, my husband and I talk about it often, this to the economy for attention,' she said. 'That is what is monetizable right now'

'So if you're just trying to grab someone's attention, you're going for something salacious versus what is truthful.

Once again she managed to make it all about her which is an odd way of celebrating women's sufferage?

The money PC pays them from the Duchy of Cornwall won't even cover the annual running costs.

maddyone Thu 13-Aug-20 20:05:07

Apparently they didn’t want staff when they briefly lived at Frogmore, but there’s no way they can run that place without staff. They’ll need a housekeeper, cleaners/maids, and gardeners at the minimum. Also they need want security, and either a nanny or Doria, or both, for the baby. Plus maintenance staff for house and cars. That isn’t cheap. On their two plus million a year from Prince Charles? Somehow I think Charles is going to be shelling out a whole lot more than two million a year. It’s going to blow quite a hole in his twenty million a year from The Duchy of Cornwall.

The last gaff they were in had more bathrooms than bedrooms as well. What on earth do they do in them all?

Apparently Harry wanted something more homely this time so a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole shock grin, game room, arcade, theatre, wine cellar, swimming pool, tennis court and five-car garage should fit the bill nicely.

So glad they were able to find something a bit more in line with their modest tastes this time. grin

Calendargirl Thu 13-Aug-20 18:34:27

I read that the new house has 16 bathrooms, but only 9 bedrooms I think.

Sounds a heck of a lot of bathrooms! Meghan will be busy with the Marigolds, cleaning all those loos!

Sparklefizz Thu 13-Aug-20 18:27:01

I have to disagree - I don't think Meghan is anything like Diana.

Jane43 Thu 13-Aug-20 16:37:18

Anniebach

Sorry to repeat myself but - Harry has married his mother.

Meg gave up her life for that family

Diana - all I have done for that f*****g family

Meg will only associate with certain newspapers

Diana tipped off certain newspapers

I completely agree with you Anniebach. I don’t think the similarities are coincidental, Meghan has modelled herself on Diana much like Heather Mills modelled herself on Linda McCartney.

Jabberwok Thu 13-Aug-20 15:39:31

Again agree with what's being said here. Harry has indeed married his mother, and since MM has become a charmless petulant victim encouraged by his new'mother' ! I do so wonder how those orphaned children in Africa feel? Having promised them so much it's all now so much hot air! Did he mean it at the time? He seemed to,but now? who knows! One thing he has taught those kids was, never to trust a Caucasian!! Prince Harry has convinced them of that! What a sh#t!

Ellianne Thu 13-Aug-20 14:02:40

William had the sense to look at his own dysfunctional family and choose a wife who would give him the more conventional type of family life he wanted.
Harry on the other hand was stupid and petulant, and probably didn't think beyond bagging himself a pretty actress with charisma.
I can see why William would have encouraged his brother to take things more slowly, because William would have seen the bigger picture.
Their future lives will be very different on a personal level, and Harry could at a later date well find himself in a dysfunctional marriage like his own parents.

Violettham Thu 13-Aug-20 13:25:48

I would not have it even if it was given away.

Ellianne Thu 13-Aug-20 13:19:33

Crikey, that's some house!

That is the point merlotgran. One would assume that William will not continue to prop up Harry when Charles becomes King. The time will come when George, Charlotte and Louis need a house etc. so he will need to look after them.

When I first read that PC had financed this mansion , I felt angry that he was complete fool, but thinking about it,(more rationally!!) I agree with Nnanny that the gruesome pair have got P. C exactly where they want him! As she has said, picture the headlines, either way!!!!
As for comparing themselves to the mentioned political prisoners! It is insulting, lets just leave it at that! The suffering of, and continued suffering of N. Z-R is shocking, beyond belief! Surly even these two cretins understand that!!!
So P.H had a difficult relationship with his father!! Oh dear, poor didums! So did Churchill and many other sons of famous men, but they didn't trash them, the rest of their family or their fellow countrymen who actually rated them! This person is a wimp of the first order!

I’m going to upset any Diana fans here but it’s what I honestly think. If as claimed there is a difficult relationship between Charles and Harry, Diana was partly responsible for it. We know now that she was very clever at manipulation and creating a saintly and blameless persona, much like Meghan in fact.

merlotgran Thu 13-Aug-20 12:55:38

When Charles becomes King he will hand over the Duchy of Cornwall to William.

Better make hay while the sun shines, Harry.

Gwyneth Thu 13-Aug-20 12:45:32

Wouldn’t waste my time or money in reading or buying this book. Wonder if M&H will receive any money from the proceeds?

Fame? I never heard of her before she went out with Harry! I haven’t read the book, but the snippets I’ve seen/heard about don’t do this pair any justice. They appear petulant, entitled, and arrogant.

I don’t agree that Prince Charles will be damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. He apparently already funds these two to the tune of two million plus a year, and now he apparently has bought them a luxury, expensive house in which to indulge their fantasies they they actually matter and deserve such opulence. I guess while ever Prince Charles lives they will be funded by the Duchy of Cornwall, but when Prince William is on the throne, who knows?

They should have been given their allowance of two million, and cut loose to fund the rest of their lifestyle independently, as they stated they wanted to do.
