I can very highly recommend Bulb as an energy company.
They do all the work and just email me to keep me up with what's happening.

I asked my step daughter about this problem. She 'builds' websites and tests new websites to make sure they're working properly.
She explained that a lot of companies don't have their full staff in yet or have let a lot of people go.
The result of this is: a lot of websites aren't being 'serviced' as they would be.

What about when you then go to change the damn password (or try to) and you change it to what you thought you used (but been told it's incorrect) and the message is you can't have that as you used it previously!

Passwords,, the whole world has become addicted to Passwords! I hate them

Riggie Sat 22-Aug-20 09:44:08

My gripe is when you sign up to somewhere new or to change a password and have gone through all the retyping because they're not the same and finally they match ......and you get a message saying they dont march the required format!! Please tell us the format upfront!!

I use Roboform, a password manager.

The software stores most of my passwords and never lets me down. There is a yearly subscription, but you can use LastPass as a free alternative. Here is a link - sorry it's such a long one. You can also find if you search Google for lastpass,

Oopsadaisy! Made me laugh so much! Never mind road-rage, computer-rage is worse!!
I've had all your experiences too, but the one that really got my goat was when asked to type in my name, and it repeatedly told me I had spelt my name incorrectly!! I even checked my username, just in case it had initially been spelt wrong, but no! I gave up in the end!

Technology has gone mad. It’s all so frustrating. I’ve not been able to use my Microsoft account or Skype for years! They ask questions such as when did you last use it etc. Technology does not make life easier.

I too make a note but only I know where.

I use Lastpass, a password manager - that way the only password I need to remember is the one for that

I've had the problem about my name too but the worst was a problem with my date of birth.
I am an added user on one of OH credit cards and it kept telling me everything was wrong. They wouldn't speak to me - obviously- but when hubby got home they had a long chat going through goodness knows what. They asked him for my date of birth and he told them. They said - thats what your wife keeps putting in and it is wrong! He went mad. After much goings on they finally admitted that they had my year of birth down as 1901! Which made him married to a woman 51 years older than him!

I too have found Bulb to be hassle free

Blinko Sat 22-Aug-20 10:36:16

I've found Octopus is really easy to get on with. No hassle at all. That's our energy company, btw.

Aberdeen city council website is a nightmare. I just needed to report a dead tree that needs to be removed. I was tearing my hair out with frustration before I think I eventually managed it.

Notinthemanual Sat 22-Aug-20 10:52:54

seacliff Love that - thank you for putting a smile on my face

I have exact same thing with my Amazon account every blooming time I go to sign in, eventually after numerous attempts it finally allows me in. You can call them and they will rectify it for you but the wait time is long on the phones.

HannahLoisLuke Sat 22-Aug-20 11:08:31

I've had this problem with various sites but also can't log in at all on some, or proceed with a sale on others, although I can do it fine on my phone. I've realised that the problem is probably because both of my iPads are just too old after getting a message from my bank that my browser is out of date. Both tablets are well past the stage where they can be updated so looks like I'll have to buy a new or newer iPad. Grrrr!

timetogo2016 Sat 22-Aug-20 11:13:01

I have the same with Go-Compare and Sainsburys bank.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 22-Aug-20 11:17:59

Oh yes, Bluebelle - passwords are my nightmare. I write them in an address book but it's never the right one. Apple is worst. Getting apple cloud, apple itunes, apple ID or just getting into your Macbook, iphone and ipad - and absolute nightmare! Now I just let the Keychain save them, I still have the odd problem but not as much!

Vintagegirl Sat 22-Aug-20 12:24:29

I keep a list of passwords in my email but saved to drafts... semi disguised with asterix for obvious ones. I can update it as needed.

HappyBumbleBee Sat 22-Aug-20 13:19:40

Not sure if it's been mentioned and I've missed it but when putting in passwords be wary of spaces..... sometimes if you have auto fill a space cab appear at the end of your email address or password - this making it incorrect xx

Aepgirl Sat 22-Aug-20 13:29:01

I had this recently with M&S. I know I had entered the correct password, but it was not accepted. I changed my password, and this wasn’t accepted. I phoned M&S, was given a temporary password to use whilst on the phone, and this wasn’t accepted either. The lady on the phone said it must be my computer - but I was not having problems with other companies. I gave up.

Another vote here for Bulb. They just email me, once a month, to say it's time to submit meter readings. No need to log in or go to their website, you just click on the link in the email, enter your readings and you get an immediate email back to confirm them and tell you what you energy consumption has been since the last reading. No need to remember any passwords. Brilliant!

Oopsadaisy4 Sat 22-Aug-20 14:16:18

My iPad will automatically use a computer generated password if I wish, then it just asks me if I want to use the stored password when I go back in, all passwords are stored on an iPad too.
The problem is when I go onto the PC and try to put in the Apple password( a random selection of numbers letters caps and lower case with hyphens, ) DH has to stand an read them out to me as I get lost half way through.
