I ve changed password three times now and it’s the same message every time I really am not stupid I promise I have put the SAME password in twice

I had the same problem with 02. I've given up visiting their website now. Even when I saved my password it said it was wrong.

I have times like that BlueBelle. In my case it’s an age thing.

kircubbin2000 Thu 20-Aug-20 16:53:50

My trouble is that when I enter my email address they tell me this address is already in use.Of course it is, it's me!

Esspee Thu 20-Aug-20 16:53:59

I get tearful but OH gets really angry when it happens to him.
Thankfully it only happens occasionally at the moment. I am fully expecting it to get worse as we age.

seacliff Thu 20-Aug-20 16:57:53

I agree VERY ANNOYING. At work when that happens, I am finally so frustrated that when it asks for yet another new password, I enter quite a rude one!!

seacliff Thu 20-Aug-20 17:00:39

Have a computer they said, you will save so much time.......

Passwords are one of my pet hates.
It's the main reason I choose not to do a lot online, if I can help it.

I think I must have at least 15 essential ones floating around in my head, so I can't take any more.

welbeck Thu 20-Aug-20 17:14:15

i have recently discovered that the computer can remember passwords for me, which is very useful.
i wouldn't trust it with anything important or financial but i don't do that anyway.
for forums etc i can't see any risk.
also re entering incorrectly. sometimes my keyboard does not register the letter i have pressed. happened today esp on or rather off, the f, kept being omitted.
sometimes you can click on an eye symbol, so you can see exactly what you are inputting.

EMMF1948 Thu 20-Aug-20 17:24:20

I've had the situation where I've been sent a new password, copied it electronically and it's still not worked!

BlueBelle Thu 20-Aug-20 18:14:18

But it’s not an age thing espee I am reasonably competent but it WILL NOT take any password new or old I have trouble with EON every time and usually resort to ringing but there’s a long queue at the moment
I looked on the reviews for their app and it got 2.3 and others leaving reviews saying it wouldnt accept their password
I really feel like finding another provider just because it’s so so frustrating
Oh calm down missus

MissAdventure Thu 20-Aug-20 18:33:34

We had the same issue with trying to book a blood test online.
After spending ages (days!) trying to find who to contact, my daughter spoke to someone who reset her password and logged her in.

Next time? Zilch!! Every time thereafter, too.

paddyanne Thu 20-Aug-20 18:43:39

Sounds like my online banking issue. After 3 attempts using a password I've been using for a year or more they blocked me from my account .The branch is only open two days a week and the help desk phone person was less than useless.By the time I eventually got back onto my account Id changed the password 5 times, called the helpdesk three times ,had "one time password" calls right through the night ..never when I actually needed them and a week had passed.I was more stressed than I have ever been over anything in my life .Hopefully it wont happen again !

Lollin Thu 20-Aug-20 18:49:49

seacliff shock and there was I thinking you a sweet gentle soul grin

As has already been said I too stop visiting certain sites because of this. Very frustrating, especially as according to their emails there are great offers awaiting me!

cornergran Thu 20-Aug-20 18:56:28

If it helps BlueBelle accessing EoN has been known to reduce me to incandescent frustration. Since I changed my log in to my account number rather than my email address it seems to work. Might be worth a try.

BlueBelle Thu 20-Aug-20 19:36:10

Thanks cornergran I ll start again tomorrow and try that I can’t manage any more today my patience has left me for today

I've done that too * Seacliff*. It does relieve the stress.

maydonoz Fri 21-Aug-20 20:37:47

Oopsadaisy, I've just been tearing myself up laughing at your password post, my DH was worried and was calling from upstairs to see if I was alright, he thought I was choking or else! Thanks for that.

annep1 Fri 21-Aug-20 21:24:16

?? Oopsadaisy

merlotgran Fri 21-Aug-20 21:40:02

It's not far from the truth though is it?

I keep my passwords written down in a notebook and only DH and DD know the whereabouts. If I'm asked told to change my password I daren't write it down in the book until I've gone through the procedure with a pen and scrap of paper to hand.

I try choosing a password which is the same but with a different upper case letter - write it down.

That's not enough so I change the numbers - write it down.

Stick in an exclamation mark and we're good to go - write it down.

Now I can risk writing it in my little book quickly before I lose the piece of paper and forget all the changes.

It's then a nail biting procedure the next time I try to access the website otherwise I've got to go through the whole parlaver again.

Peardrop50 Fri 21-Aug-20 21:58:55

Oopsadaisy that's hilarious.
Most of my passwords begin ffs for obvious reasons.

Elrel Fri 21-Aug-20 22:11:46

I waste so much time trying to use passwords, some seem to need changing each time I try to log in. Then the ‘saved’ new password doesn’t work next time.
So many times I’ve given up attempts to buy online or donate online. I guess what I gain by not spending is more than balanced by the stress and frustration of being among the many who find online efforts too often failing. I feel better reading these posts, tears, swearing and all, so familiar!

I find the smaller energy suppliers so much easier to use, both online and when phoning. Their websites are much more user friendly and they answer the phone within a few rings. I'll never go back to the big suppliers.
