When I had my first job (in teaching), I couldn't pass a shoe shop. Oh, those were the days! Now I have to find footwear that accommodates my burgeoning bunion. I have my eye on a pair of faux fur lined ankle boots from Hotter, but at the moment the best I can do is my faithful Skechers trainers. I tried a pair of glitzy trainers from Hotter but my high instep got in the way of the zip so I had to send them back.

Has anyone got bolder with their style, with age?
My friend always wore stylish clothes and looked great down to her feet, choosing the granniest of footwear.
We went to see the Ab Fab film at the pictures and I think it was June Whitfield that mentioned granny shoes. I swear I felt a little tension emanate from my pal.
Next time I saw her she was wearing silver teddy boy shoes. Which on paper doesn't sound as great as they looked with her outfit. She loved them and they gave her a spring in her step, not just from the squishy thick sole.
Has anyone else got bold? And how so?
I buy from the high st as I always have. I’m 63 my DD is 18 she often borrows my clothes and shoes.
I haven’t become bolder I just wear the same things I always have which is mainly jeggings with either t shirts, jumpers or check shirts. Footwear is usually trainers, boots or canvass plimsolls. Sandals in summer.
I did dye my dark hair orange yesterday. Didn’t intend it to be so bold lol but I LOVE it. ??
Walking through m and s today (short cut to avoid rain) I saw their new stuff......oh my goodness how dreary, shapeless Baggy cardigans, hideous blouses, awful colours. They’ll be out of business if they carry on like that.
Not bolder but maybe more confident or comfortable with what I'm wearing. I've also tried wearing colours I didn't previously wear and found I've been quite pleased with the result.
I don't know about bolder, but certainly slightly whackier. I favour rather mad clothes sourced from WalkersStyle.com and the designers offered by justdaretobe.com (I thing that's right). Shoes via Tracey Neuls (in the sale as they're madly expensive but total keepers, so I feel it's justifiable) or just slopping about in Sketchers, especially during the lockdown. I've got a couple of Zara dresses too but I never wear trousers or jeans.
No. Bored by fashion when I was young, even more bored by it now.
Many years ago, I read "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin. Living in a dystopia, all the characters wore identical overalls and another pair was provided automatically when required. I thought that it sounded ideal!
I always buy my clothes from Next. Casual but smart. Modern but not over-the-top. Jeans from M&S. they have a higher waistband so keeps the flab tucked in
I recently bought a multi-coloured linen jacket on-line. I was pleased with it when it arrived, which is not always the case with on-line shopping. My youngest daughter's look spoke volumes so it is still on the hanger in my wardrobe. However, I am having lunch with friends tomorrow and I intend to wear it. That's one thing with getting older; not caring too much what other people think.
I've discovered that comfortable footwear in startling colours and designs is the answer; there is nothing actually wrong with my feet but they seem to be super sensitive to shoes, producing blisters at the drop of a hat. I discoverd Hotter, and bought crimson suede sling backs with matching pom pom. They produced gasps of admiration from my GD (not easy to do) I have silver lace ups, and some pink casuals that have prompted people to ask where I got them (I imagine the query was of a complimentary nature)
As someone who hasn't grown since about 15, l still wear children's clothes, as adult gear rarely fits.
My work colleagues often refer to me as an ageing hippy, as my hair is still long and flowing free too.
My attitude is "if you don't like it, don't look".
I am clean, sometimes tidy, and life is too short to be uncomfortable.
Was watching a piece on this morning tv about clothes apparently we wear only 20% of our clothes 80% of the time which I agreed with because during lockdown especially at the beginning I decide to wear something different everyday and make sure it was bright and posh even though we spent all the time in the garden etc after all one never knew who was gonna video call us. It cheered me up and certainly lifted my mood a lot, I felt good all the time and my statement to my family was, it ain’t all over so why should we dress like it. And now my hair has grown to shoulder length and been allowed to grey out fully I have had lots of comments and I can actually say I feel good about myself now. Oh and I always put some makeup on even though wasn’t going anywhere it’s amazing how it makes you feel. So ladies get all those bright clothes out and wear them with pride !!
I need comfy shoes and most of the time I wear orange suede desert boots in the sale from Clark’s, or ankle boots.
I love my sparkly Skechers, copied from my 80 year old friend!
Don't shoot the messenger here! Yes, I've got bolder as I've grown older. I threw caution and clothes to the wind, so to speak and got involved in a few Spencer Tunick installations (mass nude photography). I then went on to date a naturist. I ended up marrying a naturist.
DH and I just after we got married (au natural in a desert), took part in a life drawing session - as a couple. We have since been to a few body painting events, joined a naturist walking group in Germany two years running, and now that we are living in France - living as much of life as we can in the buff, including gardening in buff (with sunscreen and sunhats of course). Hygiene? No issues with sitting on towels or on a sarong. Chilly - on go the clothes!
To be honest, I came from a very religious and sheltered background. Wow, how I have changed!
It's not everybody's cuppa tea, so to speak, but I feel my change of lifestyle has made a better impact on my health and mental health. I'm a happier person. Yes I no longer have a perfect body but I've accepted myself as I am. And if I go to a naturist beach or event - nobody cares a jot what I look like nor do I care what anyone else looks like. Everyone is 'beautiful'.
As I say - don't shoot the messenger down in flames.
I've put on so much weight since I passed 60 that I try and blend into the background. I never really buy clothes much, so am still wearing what I have always worn, as far as it fits. That means the odd puce tee shirt, but otherwise black, beige and olive. No confidence gained or lost nor any desire to stand out. Quite the opposite.
Thank you all. I have a big grin on my face for all you bold beautiful women. Especially Haweral Perhaps we should start an new thread... Fashion fails.
I bought a top on my way to the pub, bit off the price tag, changed in ladies and joined the girls. It took them too long to tell me I'd missed the big stick on price label on my belly.
