Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking a dry and clear start to the day here in Brackley this morning .
For myself, today will consist of a small shop ,and then prepare myself to watch the unfolding drama of the Tour De France.
As each stage is more or less live , the stages dictate the outcome of the overall of the race.
Take Care ,
Mick

cornergran Wed 09-Sept-20 06:24:59

Morning Mick, morning All, it seems a dark start to our corner of Somerset, heavy clouds, dry so far. Dust removal and laundry today, maybe a walk by the river this afternoon if the cloud lifts. Take care everyone.

Beechnut Wed 09-Sept-20 06:25:32

Good Morning everyone. It’s dry and cloudy, two tone greys on Severnside this morning.

I have woken early so I might get up earlier. Not sure what mischief to get into today. I know the freezer wants defrosting so that could be one job.
There’s all awful lot of stuff going on upstairs in my head to think about. I’m going to have to give myself a talking to.

Have a good day all whatever you do ?

Jaxjacky Wed 09-Sept-20 06:30:31

Good morning all Beechnut my head is the same, hence the early hour. Been putting stuff off, but need to address it before options are scuppered by increasing cases. Off to farm shop for veg in an hour, normally only one in there at that time!
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

grandMattie Wed 09-Sept-20 06:50:36

Good morning from an unexpectedly bright E Kent.
I overslept (for me!), not a dry good night. What is it with advancing age that one sleeps more and more badly?
Sounds like the TDF is unfolding with its usual dramas and accidents Mick. Enjoy!
Laundry today.
Also, one of my friends who is something in the library, has taken upon herself to have a book exchange, weather permitting, every week until the library reopens (if ever). She’s invited me for a cuppa ☕️ after swapping books. I’ve had all sorts... rubbish and excellent books from there. Be nice to see her. We haven’t seen each other since lockdown.
Hope you are feeling better Mary, that the travellers are not causing problems Maw, they are so hard to move, once installed.
Have the best day possible in these peculiar times. Stay safe.

Gelisajams Wed 09-Sept-20 06:59:26

Good morning from a now dry, breezy Morecambe Bay. Gardening here today. My poor garden does get neglected. Cobbler’s children’s shoes and all that!
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

kittylester Wed 09-Sept-20 07:04:12

Morning all from a greyish, muggy North Leicestershire.

Zoom Carer's course this morning while DH is at the gym and our cleaner works her magic.

Then off to order some chairs - yet again.

I haven't seen Harri or Nina for a while - I hope they are ok. And, sending love to marydoll and gilly.

brook2704 Wed 09-Sept-20 07:25:00

Good morning everyone from a dry and windy Inverness with a mix of grey cloud and blue sky - could go either way today!
I’m off to the hairdressers this morning so will feel much better once I’ve had my hair done ? Nothing planned for later, except some food shopping and a maybe browse around the local shops.
Enjoy some gardening in your own garden gelisajams
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

mancgirl Wed 09-Sept-20 07:28:05

Good morning from a damp Manchester. Had to collect a lamp yesterday and decided to go out for an unscheduled lunch. Very nice and the bonus was I don't cook dinner if we've eaten out at lunchtime! Gs1 coming this morning for a few hours before I drop him off at school after lunch. After 4 mornings, he's now doing 4 afternoons before full time next week. He's really enjoying it - so far! Have a good day everyone. ? For those with extra cares and worries.

Sar53 Wed 09-Sept-20 07:38:03

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. The weather has been lovely the last few days but it does get dark so much earlier now.
DH got the all clear from his Oncologist yesterday after his latest round of blood tests, last appointment next April when he will be 5 years in remission.
We had to go into town yesterday to the bank and I managed to buy a pair of my favourite sandals, reduced from £69 to £29, a bargain.
Not much happening today, some ironing later and a walk plus DH has an opticians appointment at 5.
Have a lovely Wednesday and stay safe everyone xx

GrannyGravy13 Wed 09-Sept-20 07:38:33

Good morning Mick and all

Blue sky wit wispy clouds here in S E Essex.

On Grandma duty with youngest GC again today. cleaner is here this morning so I will put him in the pram and go for a nice long two hour walk.

Off to the local pub for dinner this evening.

Thinking of all our absent posters ?

Take care and keep safe folks ?‍♀️

Scentia Wed 09-Sept-20 07:39:39

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. A little grey this morning but I will take the pooch in a little bike ride this morning before I go to DD house to fetch my coat. I will collect my shopping I am trying Click and Collect this week as opposed to home delivery. DD sent me a video of DGS with his walking stick I whittled first him last month, it made me cry seeing a little 16month old using his walking pole to help him tackle the Welsh hills❤️ I am sure DD had the carrier with her for when he gets tired.
As I have a day off and no DD and DGS to play with I will be doing some EBay sales today and a bit of painting as I have made my own stair gate and it needs painting white.
Take care and have a good day today folks.xx

Urmstongran Wed 09-Sept-20 07:46:01

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s warming up nicely after a cooler start to the day - or could that have been the ceiling fan over my bed?

I overslept (for me!), not a dry good night I hope you didn’t wet the bed grandMattie!
?

No plans for today. Yesterday’s ladies’ afternoon went well although one lady had to cry off with a tummy bug that started on Friday, poor thing. The lady from Birmingham enjoyed it. She had a little cry when telling us of her husband’s last few weeks when she nursed him at home, bless. But she also had a fair few laughs too and on our way home told me how much she’d been looking forward to our weekly groups. Laughter as they say, is the best medicine.

Like the saying about the cobbler’s children Gelisajams! I usually say ‘the plumber’s wife always has the leaky tap’. These sayings will probably go out of fashion in a few years I bet!

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all. That includes you gillybob and you too BlueSapphire and dragonfly. It’s been too long. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Urmstongran Wed 09-Sept-20 07:49:38

Xd posts Sar53 - excellent news! You must both be feeling on top of the world this morning ??

NanKate Wed 09-Sept-20 07:57:24

Good morning Mick and All.

A grey start to the day in South Bucks. I wonder if it will be as muggy today.

I’m glad you get such pleasure Mick from your cycling. I am just the same with Tennis. At present I am watching both the US Open and the Kitzbul Tournaments. I do miss the spectators though.

Hope you are feeling more chipper today Mary. I hope Gilly returns to us soon. ??

baubles Wed 09-Sept-20 08:04:41

Good morning everyone. What a wild night that was, the wind has died down a little but it’s still wet and very breezy

Back to picking up GC after school for us.

Susan56 Wed 09-Sept-20 08:12:38

Good morning from Shropshire.A grey and drizzly start.

I had a successful day at Cheshire Oaks yesterday and got most of the birthday gifts I needed. It turned into a scorcher though. When I got back to the car,the temperature was showing as 29?

Sar,brilliant news,so pleased for you???

A quiet day planned today catching up on all the household chores and the great garage sort out will continue!

Hope you are feeling brighter today Mary and you too gilly.
So many regular posters missing, thinking of you all and hope you will be back posting soon?

brook2704 Wed 09-Sept-20 08:12:53

So pleased for your DH sar53 that must be the best news today! ❤️

MellowYellow Wed 09-Sept-20 08:14:41

Morning everyone, dry and bright in south Cornwall. Sorry grandMattie, had a giggle at your 'wet night'. Sar53, what wonderful news. Today I'm off to a charity shop that sells five books for £1! Rejects from other shops, so always something fascinating to be found. Other than that the doctor is calling to discuss pain relief and the hospital is calling to discuss my ears. A right old NHS day! The best of everything possible to you all.

Georgesgran Wed 09-Sept-20 08:22:44

Good morning from Durham. It’s dry, but not as nice as yesterday. I had a lovely day out with DD1 and DGS, but felt quite guilty leaving DH at home. I’m sure he hadn’t moved a muscle while I was out. His health is deteriorating and we’ve a Hospital appointment next week to see if his new treatment is working or not. His peripheral neuropathy is constant now, very painful and the meds don’t seem to help.
Sar53 - you must be over the moon at your DHs news. Mine managed less than 2 years in remission, which was a complete shock, as he seemed so well and had responded to treatment - a star patient.

Must get up - Friend has changed our coffee time and place by text this morning. A couple of hours out, then back in and might do some washing later.

Have the best day you can. X

grannysyb Wed 09-Sept-20 08:28:12

Grey here. I picked lots of plums from an allotment friends tree yesterday, I will bottle them today after my cleaner has been. We were meant to be starting our upholstery group tomorrow at the community centre, suitably masked, sanitised and socially distanced, looks like that's gone onto the back burner for now! Hope those who are feeling rough get some respite soon.

Grandmafrench Wed 09-Sept-20 08:31:13

Good Morning everyone again from warm, NOT sunny or blue France, (from where my cat claims all responsibility for the earlier post !? ) and where it has just started ......raining ? Wonders will never cease! Until late afternoon, apparently, after which normal service will be resumed. Now I can catch up indoors which will make up for yesterday.

Yesterday was going fine until I finally acknowledged that my electric toothbrush wasn’t charging properly. ( I know, First World Problems,) but I loathe the palaver of customer ‘service’ departments in a country where the phrase ‘ the customer is always right ‘ has been said by no one...ever. DH found the receipt and the 2 year guarantee. Blimey, it expires in a couple of days! ?

So, afternoon involved an unexpected trip to a store, 60kms round trip. In and out in 5 mins. We were given a receipt and told they’ll contact us within 15 days regarding a repair or replacement. This standard response translated into English means “actually, you’ll need to ‘phone us because by that time we’ll have forgotten all about it! “ ? After the event, however, they won’t forget to send us a questionnaire asking us to rate the standard of service ?.

So pleased to hear of your DH’s results, Sar. Hope you all have a productive, hassle-free day with something to smile about. I’ll just get on and do the ironing, shall I ?

Stay safe......most important.

Hugs and ? and ?? and ?

Grandmafrench Wed 09-Sept-20 08:35:07

Yes, the earlier and brief post has disappeared.....I give up and will stop worrying that you think I’m bonkers. ☕️?‍♀️

Marydoll Wed 09-Sept-20 08:40:37

Good morning all from a cool and grey Glasgow.

Glad to hear the news of your DH, Sar and finding bargain as well.?
Scentia, we did the same for our wee granddaughter, when we took her on a bear hunt. I used to laugh at her comment, Gran look at me, I'm walking like an old lady, just like you!. ?

DH needed petrol yesterday, so I said I would come with him to get bread. I was a bit nervous, as I haven't been out for weeks and the supermarket is in one of the areas, which have been put in restricted measure.
However I was feeling a couple of stages up from rubbish and wanted out!
My DD usually gets my shopping on a Tuesday, but she and my SIL are staying at home, as two colleagues tested positive for the virus.
It's been a bit of a shock, as her company have been very rigorous with safety measures.
The point I was trying to get to, was that that half the shelves were empty, as was the supermarket! I don't know if the reason was because of the new measures put in place and people panic buying.?

Another DIY disater loomed on our return. ? For YEARS, I have been trying to persuade DH to agree to buying a radiator cover for our hall, just to make it look smarter. He finally agreed and it arrived yesterday.
Deciding that if I didn't nag ?, he might install it quite quickly.
About an hour later he got started. FOUR hours later he was still building it. ?

I again, foolishly thought it would only be a matter of opening the box and screwing it to the wall. Oh no, not quite that simple. It had at least seven pieces of wood and useless instructions.
The first attempt would have fitted two radiators. I retreated to the kitchen.?.
Eventually, it was finished and looked lovely, apart from the scratches on the top.?.
DH: I don't know how that happened, it wasn't me! ?
Do you want to send it back?.
Me: Noooooooo!

I'm known for my ingenuity, and being unable to ditch my teacher stash, remember my stash is in boxes, due to the other failed DIY disaster, I still had a bottle of Typex, which I used to touch it up.
You would never know that it had been marked. I'm delighted and DH, thinks he has gotten away with it.?

An easy day for me today, I'm pretty wiped out, but I may put away my summer things. We should have been going to Rome on Friday, but obviously I won't be needing them now.?
Even if I was able to go, I couldn't, as KLM have cancelled our flights, which is a bit worrying regarding Italy. ☹️

Hoping Gilly is feeling a bit better and of course, missing our absent posters. I also haven't seen * NFK* about either. ☹️

Have a good day folks, it's getting very windy here.

Pittcity Wed 09-Sept-20 08:41:53

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, dry day.
Wednesday coffee meetup in the park this morning.
