Will Replacing School Uniforms With Tracksuits......
Good Morning Tuesday 21st April 2026
There’s already a thread about this.
my viewpoint - it will make b*gger all difference.
They should make mask wearing on public transport compulsory - it’s basically optional.
The government are blame shifting. Taking attention away from their dire performance.
This government is incapable of making decisions and keeping to them. Everything is half baked, like the mask wearing, and likely to be changed as they try to avoid unpopularity hence the open ending opt outs suggested in announcements. We have a PM who cannot make a speech without desperately embroidering it with imagery which he imagines is Churchilian. This to encourage the public to think he is saying something of importance. When he is seen he is in primary schools or small selected audiences.
If the concern is that bad although they are looking at the 20-40 age groups .
They should broadcast it on TV properly with figures to back .
As to Face Masks , I wear mine on buses and trains , there is an exception for those classed as COPD, who should have a card exempting them issued through the NHS
Boris how long will he last I think if the House of Commons had a full siting of MP`s could he take the pressure of the opposition and allot of his own MP`s away from the yes no sir three bags full sir on his cabinet .

Everyone around here wears a mask on buses - as far as I’ve seen lately, anyway.
IMO there should be some sort of exemption card that people can show if necessary. At the moment it’s just too easy for anyone who doesn’t feel like wearing one to say they’re exempt.
And it really should be mandatory in shops. I pop into to my local corner shop every few days - 2 customers at a time only - but recently the only people wearing masks have been me and the bloke at the till.
There has been a marked surge in cases where I am and eating/drinking places have had to close again.
This time it's too close for comfort here than it was at the beginning.
Our local chemist states masks are obligatory, all staff masked too.
When I had my weekend break in Harrogate , as to the pubs situation, apart from Track & Trace , you had time limit as to tables for eating and drinking , One place its was 105 minutes ,another less 50 minutes , but you could easy go in have one drink and go in your own time which was less than the times given by the premises .
The Hotel had rules as to meals and allotted time as well , but I did notice maybe North Yorkshire as regards to treating Covid -19 similar to trading standards as to pubs etc , comply by the rules and survive ,break the rules and they close the premises and view the trading licence .

We were in France back in July (drove via the tunnel, no planes) and every shop and motorway service station had a sign saying masks were obligatory.
An ex colleague of mine isn’t wearing one anywhere, because he’s been infected with conspiracy-theory, ‘it’s all a hoax’ stuff during lockdown - he just says he’s exempt if anyone asks, but AFAIK they never do.
To be entirely fair, he does walk just about everywhere, rather than use public transport though.
IMO we need to be considerably tougher here.
i have not crossed a threshold, not boarded a bus/train, luckily haven't needed to, since mid march.
have been wearing face covering mostly when outside since early March.
perhaps easier for me than more sociable mixing types.
Maximum six of we are in our own homes or gardens, or parks. But if we are spending money in a restaurant, or a bar or a pub or anywhere else we are spending money, then we need to be in six BUT amongst several other groups of six, or if we are more than six, split into two groups. Seems all abit weird to me.
Don't tables have screens between them?
I haven't been in any eating/ drinking premises, so I don't know but I thought they would.
well that has put an end to our efforts in the village for a socially distanced, pop in for coffee and cake for MacMillan Cancer Care. But, we could all go in to the same premises ( the pub) and buy a socially distanced alcoholic drink in a group of six or less. Nonsense and flim flam distraction techniques being thrown around by an administration who really don't know what they are doing. I noticed there was a race meeting in Doncaster today though........funny that with Dido Harding being a senior member of the Jockey Club.

Why do you have to give up if it's in the same premises with the same safety measures?
Because the MacMillan coffee morning would be an organised event, with more than 6 people there manning the cakes and coffee ( all socially distanced), and as an organised event there would be more than 6 there even if we chose to keep the volunteer to one at a time. The difference is in spontaneity as in popping to the pub with your friend or going to an advertised event.
I think a curfew after 7pm would be a good idea; stop all the crowded gatherings in pubs and clubs which is where the infection seems to spread. Occurred to me that I haven't been anywhere or seen anyone after 6pm since lockdown began.
I have been in quite a few pubs since they reopened (in my local several times) and social distancing rules have been pretty well observed in all of them. Ditto with restaurants.
GillT57 that does sound nuts.
