Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight but its dry with some wind and an autumnal chill in the air.
Met up with my sister and brother last night at a new local hotel here in Brackley , as the hotel with the town being close to Silverstone Circuit you had support teams staying in it .
Plus yesterday , in Buckingham Flea Market I managed to buy an old map of Ireland original price 1/- paid £2 for it for my brother in law .
Today , final stage of Tour De France based in Paris , and see how the sprints unfold .
Take Care ,
Mick

Good morning all,

Greyduster has the weather forecast spot on for SY today. Not sure if it's going to brighten up or not, but plan a few jobs in the garden whatever happens.

What a lovely throw, Mellow. I'm full of admiration for anyone who can produce lovely crafts.

lins and cornergran I do hope you decide to continue posting even if you take a little break first. No ones posts are dull - it's lovely to hear from everyone even if it's just to say "good morning". ?

Take care.

Good Morning from a rapidly brightening Black Country. It looks like another gloriously sunny day in store the same as yesterday.

My Birthday today, so would have been having a family BBQ get together here. Instead, we are having Mum over and DD and 2 girls will come minus her DH, so there are only 6 of us. Will have to see my DS and family and brother another time. Oh for this to be over!

Wishing you all a very good Sunday, with special thoughts of gilly

Beauregard Sun 20-Sept-20 09:39:42

Gosh, what kind comments on the throw, I wasn't expecting that! It's only a load of knitting wool and some needles. wink A MissMarydoll star, thank you! Gingster and mary51 I'll start another thread under Arts and Crafts to answer your questions as it'll take too much space here. Please anyone thinking of leaving, don't go, I love to read all the messages, such a lovely community here.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow. We gave the garden a good soak last night and woke this morning to see it has rained overnight, Sod’s law!?

To those of our friends who are talking about leaving or think what you have to say is banal. I read every post and enjoy hearing from everyone no matter if your post is short or long.
The best thing about our GM thread is, no one judges whatever you say but what you say helps all of us going through such difficult times living a quieter life than usual.

Something I will always remember is when this thread was a lot quieter years ago, one poster who was a widow saying, I hope this thread never stops as it is a lifeline to me and helps me to feel part of others lives meeting up for a chat so there may be one poster who feels the same and looks forward to reading your post and you really will be missed if you leave. I hope not. ?

Here comes my usual post wittering on about what I am doing in the garden. I decided on the spur of the moment to visit our local garden centre and was delighted to find two miniature lemon rhodies. I had a full size one years ago and just love the colour. I have painted two Versailles planters black which are now dry and ready for the rhodies.

What a fabulous quilt MellowYellow. Your GD will love it. Anything made especially for you is always treasured.
I have crocheted blankets for both DDs which they still use and now for both GDs. in our family we call them soosy blankets, like a comforter, just the thing for snuggling up on the sofa.

A restful day of knitting and reading my book later. ?

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday, love and strength to our friends who are having tough times just now.

Good Morning All x
Doing well with the weather here, it's been glorious. I imagine today that the world and it's wife will be down on the seafront today before the lockdown shock

As per usual, "Miss Havisham" here won't be going anywhere. Besides, I've got dinner to do and must wash my locks today. Dinner is a piece of boiled ham, pots and runner beans---parsley sauce of course and a raspberry Magnum.

D popped in yesterday as a surprise, but with tales of woe thrown in, at least I'm up to speed with family affairs ( complicated )----no end to it. Never boring !

It's comforting to know that I'm not alone with my " quiet life " although this is how I like it now after having family around me for so many years. It's enough keeping 3 cats fed and cared for, along with the old stray Tom who lives outside in his kennel and now two squirrels who sit outside the patio door bold as brass grin

Bramble jelly, I love it---home-made of course. I can remember mum straining it through a fishing net ! With all the other jellies she used to make. Cream cheese too which she served with apple pie ? I declined that.

Thinking of Gilly and it's not surprising she's taking a break----the only break she gets. The girl has had a lot to contend with this past year with one thing and another and the last thing she'd want to hear is the idyllic lives of others as her own hits rock bottom. It won't be forever Gilly although it'll feel that way.xx flowers From one who understands, having a daughter the same age/ circumstances.

Others too who aren't feeling up to posting, things will improve in time. xx flowers Our thoughts are with you.

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe. xx

Popping back to say, NannyJan have a lovely birthday. ?????

Beauregard Sun 20-Sept-20 10:25:51

I stopped posting a couple of weeks ago as I felt that my daily offering was a bit boring and that others had much more interesting things to say. However, after reading today's lovely posts to those who are considering leaving I'm encouraged to return, so thank you flowers

Taichinan Sun 20-Sept-20 10:30:06

Just popped back in to say please don't leave, would-be leavers! I too live a very quiet life but I find posting on here is a grand exercise in finding the best in it and writing it down. Then I read it back and it doesn't sound nearly as dull as I sometimes feel it is, and it cheers me up when I'm down. ???

Kalu Sun 20-Sept-20 10:34:19

So pleased you have decided to return Beauregard. Welcome back. ?

CherryCezzy Sun 20-Sept-20 10:45:27

Good morning everyone. Sun is shining and the sky is blue here in the Gower.

I too lead a very quiet life and often feel I have nothing to say because nothing much is happening in my life. I love this thread though and look forward to reading everyone's posts. Don't stop posting any of you. Take a break if you need to but please come back when you're ready ?

Talking of posters taking a break I've heard from dragonfly. She assured me that she will return to posting when she is ready to ?.

Please don't put pins in your head Pantglas ?. A number of years ago now I had video telemetry (EEG) a number of times, each time for many days. There were pins pricked into my scalp all over my head and wires (leads) everywhere leading into a big back box strapped to my waist ?. I looked like the Medusa ?. Don't do it unless you really need to Pantglas! ?

Slow cooking a small piece of brisket for dinner tonight ?. Must get a wiggle on shortly!

Happy Birthday NannyJan, have a lovely day ? ? ?

Please take care all and, especially in the light that so many posters are feeling that they have very little to say, be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Good morning from a damp Durham - a bit like a sea fret. Another early start with Council workmen cutting/strumming the grass verges before 8.30. Have had to cancel meeting a friend this morning as we’re in lockdown. I’m confused as Durham is less than 40 but guess we’re alongside areas with much higher rates. Going to meet DD2 later, as I have medical supplies for her, so that’s allowed?
I’ve not been on GN long but like to read the ‘good morning’ posts - makes me feel ‘normal’. Some are just muddling along, others (like me) are struggling through The Unknown. I’ve had lovely messages of support, so will continue. It would be lovely to hear from gilly etc to know she’s ok?

Hope everyone has the best day today. X

mancgirl Sun 20-Sept-20 10:52:46

lins1066 don't leave. I understand why you feel like that. I only post a few times a week now for similar reasons. Life is a bit hum drum at times and I wonder of people are interested in my family life, I feel like I waffle sometimes but I enjoy reading the thread. Also remember when lots were interested in the arrival of our lockdown baby who is now a bonny 3.5 months and the congratulations thereafter. It's a lovely threadsmile

Georgesgran Sun 20-Sept-20 10:54:25

Strumming? Strimming!

CherryCezzy Sun 20-Sept-20 10:57:38

Oh (grrh) my brain cell ?, I've done it again!

I really meant to say that the throw you've made is beautiful MellowYellow , I love it ?.

Gingster, I can't think of better throws for your two GS. Up the Hammers! Though we're not doing so well at the moment but I know where I put the blame for that...

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 20-Sept-20 11:02:55

Good Morning Mick and all from grey (but dry) Harrogate. I shall most likely be doing some baking this am. Did a stew in my slow cooker yesterday, which gave me two meals to freeze. This morning I have changed my home delivery shop from Asda to Morrisons, swithered about Sainsburies, but both DDs shop there, so handy if they can get me what I can't get and vice versa. Asda does not appear to be selling fresh cream at the moment!!! I hate the stuff, but have been instructed to give to DH to fatten him up.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

GrannyOwl5 Sun 20-Sept-20 11:05:04

Good morning everyone. I have posted occasionally before but read this thread regularly and have enjoyed virtually meeting you all every morning. Decided to try and post regularly after posters’ encouraging messages.
I live near Canterbury in Kent but am in North Yorkshire this week on holiday. At the moment I am in Easingwold having just visited the Yorkshire Jigsaw shop which has kept me supplied with jigsaws during lockdown. Good to see it in the flesh so to speak and meet the staff. Never thought I would become excited about jigsaws! Lockdown has much to answer for!
Hope everyone has a good day

grandMattie Sun 20-Sept-20 11:08:40

GrannyOwl15, that makes two of us in the area! Welcome.

boho43 Sun 20-Sept-20 11:14:15

Goodmorning All from Somerset, where it is again a lovely sunny day.
Having read this thread a few times I have decided to join you, although not being an early bird my very boring posts will be a bit late!
Had a good day yestersay with my DH at Wells market & lunch out. A birthday lunch for him - he turned 79 this week - ' I simply dont believe it' time just flies.
I have 3 grandchildren - the eldest being 31!
We moved from Cornwall to Somerset last year to be near the family. I love it. Having lived in Cornwall for 49 years, I dont realyy miss it strangely enough.
Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

boho43 Sun 20-Sept-20 11:16:46

Whoops - really!

Urmstongran Sun 20-Sept-20 11:24:36

I think most of my posts are banal anyway.
There’s just a lot of verbiage in them! I could edit them better. I just tap out my morning thoughts and give Himself a bit of peace for 10 minutes.
