Soop's welcoming kitchen for kindly caring folk...

Soop - I do hope that you manage to get the lovely black cat as I am sure it will have a wonder home with you and your husband. My beautiful cat had to be put to sleep last November. She was 20.5 years, had diabetes for 9 years and her breathing got to be a problem. I miss her so much.

The kitchen is so warm and inviting and thank you. Soop for the warm rug over my knees as I sit by the stove on the rocking chair.

Ham salad with jacket potatoes for tea tonight with a rock cake. I haven’t had rock cakes in ages so I made some for us and my lovely neighbour.

I just heard today that one of my neighbours from where I used to live 15 years ago has died with the coronavirus. They live 20 miles from here. So sad as she was a lovely lady.

You lot are most def the tops. Thank you for making our kitchen a comforting place in which to meet up and continue to share our good, bad and in-between times. You make everything, especially the difficult times, feel so much better. I could not wish for a kinder, more supportive group of friends.

A lady in the village, posted that she had seen a thin, black cat in a fruit shop in Campbeltown. I phoned the shop and was told that the cat is a stray that roams the streets and calls in from time to time. The lady who brought the matter to light, now wants to return to Campbeltown in the hope of finding the cat. I must confess, if it is located and needs a home, I may ask MacS if he'll consider adopting it.

MacS is out all afternoon. He's in town having the car fixed - again. I may send him a text and ask him to keep his eye open for a scrawny black cat. It would make my day if he should return with it.

Pain is debilitating both physically and mentally along with living in these strange and quite frankly scary Covid times a tear or three is not surprising and sometimes it helps to let it all out

I'll get back to the kitchen soon. I have a rather smelly nappy of dgs to change which won't wait ?

The kitchen hasn't been the same without you and Tara, Charleygirl. Welcome back both of you. Just been to the hairdresser. I think she might have taken a bit more off than I expected, but luckily it does grow very quickly. It's a miserable afternoon. The day looked promising before I went out to meet a friend for coffee and by the time we left, it was pouring and where was my umbrella? In the boot of the car. I disgraced myself by forgetting to wear my mask which was, of course, in the car. I wended my way through the garden centre to the café with my hand over my mouth. It turned out that my friend had done the same thing!
soop do not apologise. You have been in so much pain and discomfort for so long that you are more entitled than most to 'poor me'. And there's no tennis now to take your mind off it.

Oh ann the pain is bad , but it DOES PASS ! Hang in there , movement is essential but you are a very brave Lady , I couldn’t do the injections ,my DD did it , while nagging me at the same time !
It is great to see the release of our brave exiles ???

Poor female cats suffer just as women do.
My tabby cat has tablets for cystitis daily Grandmafrench and I crush it and hide it in her food. I hope the solution is as simple for your stripey cat and her waterworks are sorted - no more “accidents”. I’m sure it will. ?

That’s enough of that nonsense?! Ann I’m so sorry that the pain is getting on top of you. Early days. You will get a handle on it I’m sure. The lady we met on our walk who had both hers replaced by the time she was fifty said to me that it was certainly no cake walk, but it was worth all the pain and effort.
Corner that must be an anxious time for you. Very unsettling to see an ambulance pull up outside a neighbour’s house. Fingers crossed for them all.
We have been for a walk and came home very wet, so now we have bovril, cheese and biscuits and a nice sit down. TOYA.

Ann I remember when my DD had her hip replaced it was on the third or fourth day that she had a dip but after that it was onwards and upwards. I do hope you start to feel better soon.

How scary all these people dying. I suppose it is normal but it is all the more poignant in this present climate.

Well look here N&G, it’s not my fault! If my braces hadn’t broken under the weight of all that soil and you hadn’t stopped to crochet me another set (they’re lovely - they have doughnuts on them!) we would have broken through ages ago! By the way isn’t that the Eiffel Tower over there? ?

Oh Ann the night times are horrid when pain is overwhelming. Hope the pain relief regime is making life a whole lot more tolerable today. I know it might not feel like it just now but it will be worth it and you know, it is still very early in your recovery process. and some along with a hug. One for you too soop, hope today looks a little brighter.

An agitated morning here, heard a neighbour has died, not close but a nice and interesting man, another whisked back into hospital after only three days at home, then saw an ambulance outside a third person's home. Waiting for news on her. Goodness, whatever next. Lunch time now, here's hoping for a peaceful afternoon.

Ann The pain relief regime is vitally important. When in serious pain, we tend to remain static. You need to continue do your gentle exercises until your muscles recover from the trauma of surgery. We all want you to enjoy the benefits that lie beyond the bruising.

I apologise for yesterday's "poor me" blip. I'm back on track.

It's a sunny day. The villagers lined the route from our deceased friend's home all the way to the cemetery gates. Only close family attended the burial. Both MacS and I have a wee dram with which to toast her goodness, kindness, and unflinching work on behalf of the community. About a couple of years ago, she was given a special award for her sense of duty, having served on the village hall committee for fifty years.

Hello all, you may not remember me because I have been in the doghouse for a week and one day. I would like to take this opportunity to say how humbled I have been personally by all of the calls of encouragement and in some cases anger re our treatment but without going into any detail. The remaining three send their love to all. Thank you once again, it has made the week more bearable.

Tara has decided to stay indoors today- unfortunately on top of my computer keyboard.

ann I am so sorry you are in a lot of pain- is there anybody at home helping you or are you struggling until your GD comes home each evening?

soop methinks you need a surgery date to lighten the heart.

Oh, ann, I'm sorry that the pain has hit you. When they've been doing joinery on your hip, it's sure to have caused internal bruising. Anyway, this is why they have given you plenty of painkillers and they do expect you to use them. It will settle down and you will be as good as new - well, almost ! xx

Sad to say I shared a tear or three with dear soop last night.

The pain was really bad and everything looked ? I realised I am 4 years older than when I had my knee done.
However today is another dat.
I am working out a pain relief regime to keep on top of it and I really do feel so much better now.
I just hope and pray that soop gets her op very soon.
It is so debilitating to live with it day after day.

Callgirl, the same good wishes go to you and Lynne, she will be desperate to get home to you all, but don’t forget, you are just as important.

Nanaandg our local saying is “going to hell in a handcart”; it made me smile as I’ve not heard it in a while.
The sentiment is very fitting as we head through Autumn struggling and worrying.
I think a return to baking for our friends is on the cards, and my offering today is the old favourite banana loaf for “us lot”to share in this lovely kitchen today.
As I know I’m gaining weight I’ll look for advice from grans on the fashion threads, for the best shops to buy a larger size of winter clothes. ???

We’re off to Slimming where we pay for the privilege of doing it all ourselves . The social aspect is completely gone and I think we will pack it in altogether until this has passed as it’s just not worth it. So after slimming there will be cake because quite frankly , as the world is going to hell in a handbasket an e tea pound or two is neither here nor there ?
