Good afternoon greetings to you lovely lot. Have you all been super-charged? I strolled into the kitchen expecting to see a few "regulars" and am heartened to rediscover a number of our Granspals sitting around and blethering and eating bacon rolls.

Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary to dear kitty and her beloved. You are indeed a very handsome couple. We all send our love.

ann The same love is winging it's way to you as you recover from surgery. Do you have a morphine pump? It is a blessing to be able to manage one's post op' pain. What's more, you cannot overdose. A little drowsiness in such circumstances is welcome.

dragonfly What's up? I don't like hearing that you are feeling "emotional". Can you share with us lot?

soop Sat 10-Oct-20 13:33:43

Bellasnana We are in one accord regarding the tennis. I shall be with you in spirit during the Rafa final. You will me screaming good advice from bonnie Kintyre. The American lady is far too pompous for my liking. I shall be tuning in for a short time. If she is doing the strut, I shall look out the ironing board. hmm

This is where I take my leave for a wee while. Welcome to all newcomers to our kitchen. Enjoy the friendship that has become part and parcel of this forum.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 10-Oct-20 13:35:46

dragonfly (((hugs))) some days emotional just arrives and knocks us for six flowers

I have been to four supermarkets in two days trying to buy Mustard Seeds no, nothing, nada.............who in the kitchen has a hoard of them grin

tanith Sat 10-Oct-20 13:41:53

I’ve just baked some shortbread it’s still warm and on the side for anyone to enjoy with a nice cuppa. My GSs wife is on her way to me with GGD Evie for a short visit, I’ve just put the heating on for the first time this year in case they feel cold, I’ve not felt cold enough yet to put it on.
Glad to hear Ann is out the other side now the hard work begins Anne be religious with the excercise as often as you can.

?????? Waves to the Doghouse residents

annodomini Sat 10-Oct-20 13:54:33

GG, I feel your pain! You can order mustard seeds and many other spices online from Wholefoods which is really Amazon under a pseudonym.

Marydoll Sat 10-Oct-20 14:18:34

I'm leaving some Mars Bar cake to go with the delicious sounding shortbread. That is something I never get right! sad.
Of course, I'm great at everything else. wink

Marydoll Sat 10-Oct-20 14:19:52

PS, Kitty thats just how I imagined you!!!

Callistemon Sat 10-Oct-20 15:11:15

I do, GrannyGravy!!
I'd never bought them before but needed them for a pickle recipe and only used a few. You're very welcome to half of them, are you good at catching?
I found them in Tesco (hope that's not an advert).

Some days just get you like that dragonfly ?
A sunflower from my garden. It's all of 9" tall and has a tiny flower but it's still a sunflower, it must be a self setter.

annodomini Sat 10-Oct-20 15:47:33

soop, I hope you enjoyed the tennis this afternoon. What a remarkable champion that kid is. Surely she will go far - all the top players must be shaking in their shoes!

NanaandGrampy Sat 10-Oct-20 16:23:56

Happy Golden wedding anniversary MrandMrsKitty ??

Congratulations.

Xx

soop Sat 10-Oct-20 16:24:01

anno and Bellasnana - What a match. The best player won and did so with style. I am well delighted. Tomorrow's final promises to be a roller coaster. I may need a G&T in order to sustain me throughout the ups and downs.

Marydoll Did you know that Mars bars are my top favourite choc treat? I limit myself to one each year. Dare not indulge more often, as my figure would most certainly go to pot.

tanith enjoy time spent with Evie. Lucky you. Lucky Evie.
Lucky us lot for having unlimited warm shortbread to squabble over share.

annodomini Sat 10-Oct-20 17:14:33

soop, it's a while since I dared even to look at a Mars Bar. When we were kids. there would be one in my Mum's grocery order and it would be cut into five pieces, one each for parents and three daughters. A far cry from the way it is now when it's not unusual to scoff a whole bar and think nothing of it - unless counting the calories. sad

soop Sat 10-Oct-20 17:51:07

anno hmm I treated myself to one on my birthday. I cut it into three pieces. Ate some during the morning. Same again in the afternoon and evening. How about that for self restraint? We were given a box of chocs recently. MacS hides them. We have two each daily. Last choc to be savoured tonight. They have a boozy cherry centre. Scrummy!

I am away until tomorrow. Thank you for your company. Enjoy a peaceful evening. Especially our Ann as she gently snoozes in her hospital bed. Trusting that she has lots of TLC. smile moon

I have both sorts of mustard seeds in it helps. In fact, I have loads of half used jars of all sorts of herbs and spices - not necessarily in date!!

Good morning to our missing DH friends. ?
On the grapevine I hear
p will be freed tomorrow,

soop , it may be an occasion for Mars bar celebrations?

Daisyboots Sun 11-Oct-20 10:46:57

Phew! I surface this morning and find many pages to catch up with so I shall do that after my post.
I went to see the oncologist on Thursday evening but it wasn't a happy visit. Unfortunately the oral chemo did not work and so another 7 months wasted and the metastases on my my spine and pelvis keep spreading making the bones very fragile. I am now going to start (don't know when) on a different intravenous chemotherapy and not looking forward to the side effects.
I am definitely going to ask for a second opinion now as we spent 45 minutes with the oncologist and he spent 30 minutes of that looking at on typing on the computer. Surely a breast cancer specialist should know what the next treatment would be without having to spend time reading up on the computer? I had told the nurse a few days previously that I had put on 4kg in 3 weeks and she looked at my legs and feet and said I had fluid retention so to tell the doctor on Thursday. In the end I had to ask him 3 times for the prescription for fluid retention. My poor DH was both upset by the news and fuming at the doctors behaviour when we came out. As he has PTSD I am so glad he has an appointment with a new psychiatrist this coming week. His previous one moved to Lisbon unfortunately.
Anyway moan over and I am so pleased to see that Ann60 has had her op and hopefully recovering well.
Congratulations in your golden wedding anniversary kittylester and am looking forward to catching up with the photos.

Hugs to Dragonfly and I hope you are feeling less emotional today.

Daisyboots I am sorry your results were not better and that more chemo is now on the cards. When faced with a serious illness such as yours, you need to have confidence in your medical team. I think a second opinion would certainly be in order. Hope you can sort it out soon. Your DH is obviously going through a bad time too. Let’s hope his psychiatrist is someone he can work with. Take care.

ann hope you are feeling ok today and not in pain.

Sending good wishes to the Doghouse 4 and looking forward to the release dates.
