Oops! Sorry to have kept you waiting on the new doorstep. Come on in and let's celebrate our new kitchen. grin

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Oct-20 13:06:58

I've made a loaf and chicken and rice soup this morning so I'll bring them to the kitchen.

soop Thu 15-Oct-20 13:13:34

dragonfly You are in our thoughts. Please keep us updated. sunshine

Greyduster I said to MacS just this morning, that I fancy a big bowl of hearty soup with crusty, nutty bread and real butter.
I trust that you are keeping well. smile

N&G Was it really three years ago that Us lot boarded a bus and camped on your lawn? You didn't 'alf spoil us. We enjoyed a right royal rave-up (until the boys in blue were alerted). I seem to remember a few of us spending the night in custody, mumbling "no comment".

soop Thu 15-Oct-20 13:14:33

Grandmabatty The answer to my dreams. You are a star.

soop Thu 15-Oct-20 13:19:48

kitty and Corner Hoping for good news from both of you. flowers

Last night's sun appeared to set the foliage on fire. What do you think?

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Oct-20 13:43:32

I think you are the star, Soop. It is very tasty bread and the soup is also what is needed in these trying times. My best wishes to all those in pain or distress today. Chicken soup helps.

kittylester Thu 15-Oct-20 13:58:27

Weve just had stilton and broccoli soup which was lovely.

Weve had a morning full of excitement - I had a hair cut and we attended a zoomed funeral. Collecting new glasses this pm and then we have a Sainsbury's delivery!! I know, I know - you are all jealous of the exciting life i lead. grin

TOYA especially Ann and callgirl. Back later if I survive!

Puzzler61 Thu 15-Oct-20 14:32:20

Popped back to send “feel better” wishes to annsixty.
How are you feeling today ann, if you are reading this? ?

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Oct-20 15:22:12

ann I do hope you are coping a tad better. My personal feeling is you were discharged too soon and that is from a personal as well as ex-professional viewpoint.

Tara turned up her nose at lovely cooked chicken (Morrisons) so tonight we will be returning to sachets. To think I have this for the rest of her little life! Still, I love her and she knows it.

At least she wanted to go out today and so far has not
returned home.

kitty having read your exploits today you will sleep well tonight.
TOYA

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Oct-20 15:36:03

I have popped in only to find kitcheners in need of (((hugs))) and cake ??

I cannot believe that there are deleting posts on this kind and caring thread, what on earth is going on at. GNHQ ?

Keep safe and well folks ?

soop Thu 15-Oct-20 17:32:16

GrannyGravy If no-one rises to the occasion, there will be no fuel for the disruptive fire. Let us carry on regardless and continue to be supportive of each other. That's what counts.

Had flu jab. Busied myself for a couple of hours cutting back the hop vine that twists and turns through an island of shrubs.

Feeling mucky. Off for a wash and brush up. Love to you lot. We'll meet again tomorrow. smile moon

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Oct-20 18:15:01

I do hope everybody has had their flu jab or at the very least an appointment to have it because this month is marching on relentlessly.

NanaandGrampy Thu 15-Oct-20 18:26:57

Evening all,

Hope ann is doing better. Fingers crossed.

Charlie I didn’t see the actual post before it was deleted but I would have chucked a rock cake at it if I had ?

Why is everyone’s food nicer than mine? That’s what I want to know.

We are having a moment of high excitement. The small boys were coming for an overnight for Halloween but as their county goes into Tier 2 tomorrow night , their Mum and Dad have bundled them up in their pjs, stuffed them in the car and are high tailing it here for an overnight . So we won’t miss out !

So apologies to all but here in deepest , darkest Norfolk we shall be having Halloween tomorrow complete with apple bobbing and a dastardly haunted house created by Grampy full of suitably scary stuff !!

I shall take pictures lol

Catch you after they have gone xx

phoenix Thu 15-Oct-20 18:33:27

Definitely the season for soup and crusty bread, with butter spread so thick it shows teeth marks!

I can offer lentil and bacon, leek and potato or what is known in this house as "random vegetable" because it's made from whatever is in the fridge veg drawer that is no use for anything else!

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Oct-20 18:33:56

N&G I think that is fabulous and the two young boys will be so excited. They really do have parents in a million who care about their children and their parents.

How is Sam- is he okay? Must not leave him out of the equation. I hope everybody has a super time- I know who definitely will!

Greyduster Thu 15-Oct-20 18:45:11

That is exactly what has just gone down well here, Phoenix! Bean, smoked bacon and vegetable with well buttered ciabatta rolls and grated cheese!

N&G bless my soul, I hope those boys will have a wonderful scary time! GS says getting he’s too old for Halloween, but I expect there will be treats even if he doesn’t go out for them! Look forward to the photos!

Hope everyone has a pleasant evening and a peaceful night!

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 18:58:45

I'm glad I read this. You have reminded me that I need to add Scotch broth mix and yellow split peas to my Tesco order!

Galen Thu 15-Oct-20 19:02:45

Can I come in here for some tlc?
For some unknown reason I’m feeling very down, depressed and tearful.
The unremitting pain in my ankles and back doesn’t help one bit.
So I’m feeling very sorry for myself.
I can’t see me being able to see my (not very angelic) angels again this year.
Can’t get an Xmas delivery slot.
I feel my world is going to hell in a basket.
And lastly I can’t see when I’ll be able to cruise again.
Sorry for wasting your time

Puzzler61 Thu 15-Oct-20 19:19:31

As well as wholesome and comforting food in Soop’s kitchen we have buckets of TLC 24/7.
Do you need a large pre Xmas order of food dear Galen ?If not do you know someone who is a neighbour or friend nearby, who has secured a slot, and you can add to their order?
Here’s a warmed wheat bag for your back and a big hug ?
It’s okay to have a weepy day and then tomorrow you’ll feel back on top of things. ?

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Oct-20 19:41:03

I also cannot get a Christmas slot- only 3 days in advance.

I agree Galen a cruise could be a bit problematic.

Sorry to hear of your other pains- may be an early night with a hot water bottle to help?

Keep your fingers crossed you willl see the angels this year. You would forget about your pain if they arrived!

Marydoll Thu 15-Oct-20 19:49:11

Tesco Christmas slots are available from 13/11 for delivery savers and from 20th for non delivery saver customers.

Callistemon Thu 15-Oct-20 19:55:05

Galen don't apologise, we all have our down days.
I get frustrated with things which I cant change, but I just can't so I try to tell myself it's a waste of energy.

They may well release more Christmas slots (I couldn't get one the other day) but, if not, I shall book one as near as possible and freeze things.
And hide the chocolates.

If you're really stuck, please pm me.

Doodle Thu 15-Oct-20 20:34:09

Galen in the scheme of things cruises aren’t so important but we have missed two this year and knowing how much we looked forward to ours so I can understand your disappointment. Also not seeing the DGC. Things aren’t much fun at the moment. Pain always makes things worse. As for the delivery slots at Christmas, I don’t think Sainsbury’s have opened their’s yet.

cornergran Thu 15-Oct-20 20:37:59

You’re not wasting anyone’s time Galen - ever flowers. A jug of rich hot chocolate on the side from me, why not settle as comfortably as you can with a hot drink and a hot water bottle. Chronic pain is foul, gets us all down sometimes, always worse in the evenings I think. I’ve also failed to get a Christmas delivery (Waitrose), sometimes a call to customer services miraculously finds one. Puzzlers idea is good, I may borrow that if no slots appear.

Look after yourself, we’re all here for you. Xx

Doodle Thu 15-Oct-20 20:39:07

charley I meant to ask how Tara is now you have been released. Are you forgiven yet?

phoenix that soup sounds delicious. Two bowls plus crusty bread please.

Marydoll hope you are ok. Is your treatment still causing you a lot of problems. Scotch broth sounds like something that should be served in the Argy ?

N&G those boys are spoilt rotten, isn’t it lovely ??

Nannytopsy Thu 15-Oct-20 20:41:31

Galen I am so sorry that you are down today. Pain is so wearing. Thank you for your virtual cake - it was delicious.
