Daisyboots that is indeed a dreadful thing to happen to your DGS. Was this in the UK or Portugal? I feel the world has gone mad.
I do hope he feels better soon but it will be some time before he feels safe again.
Pleased to hear your DH is getting his head around your diagnosis. I am constantly being asked by mine how I feel and it can be wearing.

Sorry to hear you have a cold PurplePixie I fear all we hear about these days is Covid and we forget the other ailments. Hope you feel better soon.

soop Sat 17-Oct-20 13:35:44

dragonfly Both belt and braces will ensure that you have the best possible protection that you deserve. flowers

Daisyboots the news of your grandson's viscous attack is horrifying. I despair that such dangerous people are without any moral code. Not only will your grandson be physically scarred but he will never be able to totally forget the fear he was subjected to. I hope that justice will be done on his behalf.

soop Sat 17-Oct-20 13:47:19

Galen Now we understand why it is that you make such a fuss of Gary. Talk about the cat getting the cream...his smirk smile assures us lot that the cake is all his. No sharing. Not as little as a crumb left for us to fight over.

Purplepixie rest on the chaise with a cosy tartan blanket. We'll make sure that you are served regular hot drinks. We'll keep our voices down so as not to disturb you.

Izabella - lovely lady - do as your in-house doctor advises.

annsixty How are you feeling right now? Please update us.

We had a visitor to the back fence this morning. Isn't she a splendid creature.

silverlining48 Sat 17-Oct-20 14:23:51

That is dreadful daisyboots, so hard with everything else going on. Sending my very best wishes.
Well done Izabella you should rightly be very proud.
Take care everyone and have a peaceful and happy weekend.

Bellanonna Sat 17-Oct-20 14:31:37

Daisyboots what a shocking thing to happen to your poor grandson. Makes me feel sick thinking about it. Was that in the UK? I do despair sometimes.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-20 14:40:40

Daisyboots what a dreadful thing to happen to your dgs. I hope he is mending. And ? for you too. I'm having a cuppa after an exhausting extra bout of babysitting. He just loves running around. I got him a special lunch of sausage and haggis which he wolfed down. The boy is such a good eater for 20 months. So pork chop in honey and mustard sauce with cauliflower and peas and potatoes for tea for me and a bit of housework. Soop your visitor is lovely. How fortunate to live with such wildlife around you. I have a squirrel that leaps about my garden and rabbits that eat the plants in my bed but I don't mind as I love nature. I'm not fond of cats leaving messages in my Borders though! I'm looking forward to strictly tonight although it'll be different I'm sure. Have a good day all.

annsixty Sat 17-Oct-20 14:53:33

Good after all from a considerably more upbeat and improving Kitchener.

I was very down at the beginning of the week, I couldn’t see myself improving any time soon and couldn’t motivate myself to do the physio or move.
After telling myself just to take my time,I wasn’t going anywhere after all , I started to pick up.

I am now mobilising well, getting in and out of bed gets easier everyday and I am doing well on my crutches.

I can take my own weight to clean my teeth etc.

Yesterday L was on a half day so she braved getting a wrinkly old lady into the shower and I washed my hair and she dried it for me.
I felt so much better.
I am getting a slight appetite back but have felt quite nauseous a lot of the time, not a problem I usually have.

Pain levels hugely improved, only really on doing exercise.

So hard to read what some of you are going through and I send my fondest wishes to you all along with heartfelt thanks for your kindness and good wishes.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-20 14:57:23

Annsixty? It's good to hear from you and that you're improving. Have you tried protein drinks? They can help build your strength if you can't face food. It's probably the anaesthetic still working its way out of your system. Good to hear from you.

Charleygirl5 Sat 17-Oct-20 15:48:33

ann you have had major surgery and it takes a minimum of 3 months to get back to normal. Also, you have forgotten you at marginally over 29 so it does take a tad longer.

After my last knee replacement about 18 months ago, changing my bedding after 8 weeks of surgery was so difficult- all I wanted to do was to lie down and rest. I thought I could manage without the previous help.

Daisyboots that was horrendous, your poor GS. I would like to lock them up and lose the key.

soop I love your visitor.

soop Sat 17-Oct-20 16:12:33

annsixty I am relieved to hear that you are improving. One step at a time. As Charleyg says, major surgery needs plenty of convalescing time. You are on the road to being and feeling like a new you.

Grandmabatty Your grandson's antics and appetite make me smile.

Greetings to Bellanonna and silverlining and any one I have overlooked. Welcome to you too.

A photo of MacSporran on a mission...

Charleygirl5 Sat 17-Oct-20 16:39:00

soop what a beautiful photo of parents with their gorgeous children. It is no time at all since Mia was Toby's size and age.
TOYA

soop Sat 17-Oct-20 17:28:37

Charleyg Mila is such a helpful big sister. smile

I'm away for today. Not going far. Just a few paces to my comfortable chair to read the newspaper and look forward to the 9:pm G&T.

All good wishes to our special Granspals. Until we meet again tomorrow - smile moon

Feelingmyage55 Sat 17-Oct-20 17:29:55

Good evening. This is the first time I have visited this particular kitchen. I have so little news myself but have been lurking. Hearing that annesixty has had her operation and is transferring from bed to chair Is very happy news indeed. Anne, you might find doing the exercises either to music or using tube, helps spur you on. I used tube myself after a knee injury and it really helped, virtual company and instruction and a finish time.
The world is a very strange place just now and my family is very scattered. I just have to keep on keeping on. Plans for a crafty winter are afoot to compensate for the fact that the weather has changed dramatically here in the north of Scotland. Of course I am missing the tennis .
Lovely grans have given me advice on restarting embroidery. Izabella you are a wonder and have encouraged me to give myself a talking to.
soopthis is a lovely place to visit and you are so cheerful in spite of your health issues.
Best wishes to all and be kind to yourselves.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 17-Oct-20 17:30:42

Tube = YouTube or is it utube?

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Oct-20 17:57:37

Welcome into the cosy kitchen Feelingmyage.

Your post made me smile Ann so pleased you are feeling better. No going back now - onwards and upwards.

Lins1066 Sat 17-Oct-20 18:22:40

Daisyboots I am so very sorry to read about all your troubles. Your poor grandson, I hope that he makes a good recovery, he's young and has time on his side.

Well done Izabella you're a star.
Wishing *MacSporran all the best for his scan soop. Hope you hear about your much needed appointment soon. Have a relaxing evening both. Sam had his fourth puppy class this morning. It is unlikely that we will have the final class next Saturday as our FM is considering a Firebreak lockdown to ease the rate of the virus and take the pressure off the NHS.
We have enjoyed going and are grateful for what we've had.

Well done corner. Sending hugs and best wishes to annsixty,Galen, Cherry and all who need them, also to absentees - Maw, Susan
Hope you feel better soon Purplepixie well done to MrP for stepping up, I love tinned fruit especially pears, yum.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Oct-20 18:54:25

Welcome to this lovely place Feelingmyage. I'm relatively new and have been so welcomed.

cornergran Sat 17-Oct-20 19:44:45

Good to hear from you ann, I think you’re right, give yourself time and things will go better. You’ll get there, I just know it.

No covid test result - still - so the poorly one was taken for another test today assuming the original has somehow been lost. I do feel for them all, surely one result must come soon so her sister can at least get back to school and stop worrying because she isn’t there.

We had a surprise yesterday, it seems Mr C has a leaky heart valve. He feels well so who would have thought it? Urgent referrals made we are carrying on as usual and after a very reassuring call from the GP are content enough. Can’t fault the care, the GP phoned a mere 5 hours after the echocardiogram . Google has filled in the gaps about potential treatment, we’re content for now.

On a very positive note our Littlest visited today and brightened our weekend, goodness what an active soul, you’ve guessed it, feet are up here this evening.

Love the photos soop, that was some mission for macs, good to see the happy family and your morning visitor. Hope all is well for macs, I think I recall an appointment next week. It would be so good to hear you were comfortable again.

Goodness, daisyboots so many worries for you at the moment. A hug from me and a hope things will look brighter very soon

Head like a sieve, I can’t recall other posts, apologies to those I may have overlooked, blame the brain - I often do smile.

TOYA, look after yourselves.

cornergran Sat 17-Oct-20 19:45:35

Oops forgot, meant to say a welcome to feelingmyage, - as I said head like a sieve.

Nannytopsy Sat 17-Oct-20 20:00:47

What awful news for you Daisyboots - such a sad world.
DH is making up a bedtime story but should be down very soon. I have removed the cork...
We had a parade of tractors past our front door today ...

Grandmafrench Sat 17-Oct-20 20:57:48

Hello everyone. Lovely to hear that Ann is feeling a bit better and more inclined to give the new hip a little workout. Even a shower can make you feel better when you've undergone something so gruelling, can't it? Please don't try too hard and put yourself mentally and physically under too much strain. Think you will suddenly feel a lot stronger and more like your old self, but until then, take your time and get lots of help. Forwards now, not backwards, should be your aim grin.

The photo of your GD's family is lovely, soop. That little Toby is growing apace. Loved the one of MacS - is he your resident Punkah Wallah? With leaves that size, you wouldn't need electric fans in summer, would you. I am waiting (like you are) with bated breath, to hear about your surgical date! You need to be well and comfortable again and blimmin' quickly - you've been patient quite long enough. It may be time to send in the Grans, if you don't get a date soon !!

Honestly don't know what to say about your latest news, Daisy. Bad stuff just keeps arriving and it must be testing every ounce of your strength to find some positivity in it all. Hoping so hard that your Portugese team just do what they are supposed to do and maybe co-operate also with British specialists with a view towards offering you better options and making you feel better. It must be additionally hard for both you and your DH when he is obviously unable to cope with the latest developments. Fingers crossed that his latest session/s are some real help to him and take some of the pressure off you. Words completely fail me about the scum who could attack your GS in that way. Sometimes it's quite difficult not to feel that the whole world is going to hell in a handcart. It's becoming full of lots of people that I don't want to share the planet with. Hope you have better news this coming week and you don't lose sight of how important you are. We are all here hoping and wishing for some good news.

Feel better soon, PurpleP - about time you had a bit of TLC coming your way, I think. Grandmabatty I think you are helping to raise a big strong boy. He'll be towering over you before you know it - and hopefully doing some of the catering too!

We sat in hot sunshine for tea and Nouba, our gentleman cat, sat in the tea tray. Doesn't fit, of course. But cats always love that. As my DH said, not so much 'chicken in a basket', more 'cat in a tray.'

Just been outside adjusting one of our new security cameras, (much fiddling around to get the night images right). So, in the garden, in the pitch dark, DH up a ladder (don't ask!) I then get a motion alarm on my 'phone. It's a camera around the other side of the house. I play the alert back - a little film - and think that a big leaf is swinging (no breeze) up close to the roof. Strange. The "leaf" then stretches its neck down next to the camera to assess a leap onto the Jasmine. It's not a leaf, it has glowing eyes - and is a rat. Rat then does a flying leap into the Jasmine and disappears. It's all going on here. No real visitors but heaven knows what might turn up tomorrow........

Feelingmyage welcome to the fabulous Kitchen. You don't need to bring lots of news, (though something nice to eat is a good idea!), you just need to be there and enjoy the company. It's Youtube, by the way. Hope you've had a good day, Cherry, Galen-with-the-Cake, Izabella (get more rest), Panache, silverlining, Bella and dragonfly and Charley. Hope everything is o.k. with you Susan - you're very quiet. Missing you Doodle - hope you're both well.

Finally, looking forward to hearing your news, Maw. Have a good weekend and hugs to Hattie.

Puzzler61 Sun 18-Oct-20 12:09:12

Good afternoon everyone, it’s quiet in the kitchen today. Has everyone had a lie-in as it’s Sunday? I hope so, and particularly Ann as she continues to recuperate well.
soop you have some wonderful creatures living around you - we get only an urban fox and a squirrel, usually in the middle of the night and we see them on security cameras.
Grandmafrench your Nouba is a character. We went to a Cirque du Soleil in Florida and it was called Nouba . It’s a lovely name for a handsome feline chap.

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Oct-20 12:51:33

Good afternoon Puzzler61. I've been ironing etc as the housework was delayed due to a babysitting stint yesterday which left me exhausted. It's quiet. Too quiet... Maybe some kitcheners have hangovers? Grandmafrench is perhaps chasing that rat. (overly dramatic shudder). Or maybe everyone is out for a bracing walk. Who can tell? Sit yourself down Puzzler61 and I'll put the kettle on and tell you a ghost story...

soop Sun 18-Oct-20 13:21:26

Good afternoon lovely peoples. A warm welcome back Feelingmyage. It matters not a jot whether or not you have much to say. The fact that you are here with us, is special. I have little to report. Same old, same old. No place to go and no nearby family. It is what it is. We've all to make the best of things. I find that some days I lack "get up and go". On occasions, I feel depressed. Our kitchen is a virtual haven. I love our Granspals. So, keep coming in and let's help each other in whatever way we are able. flowers
