Good Morning Everyone,
its dark, dull and wet here in Brackley this morning.
This will not put me off going to Bicester via Buckingham, and then returning direct.
Up to March I had returned via Buckingham , but the service back also picks up secondary school children ,and as its a small bus I fear the worst .
I had some good news yesterday as to flu jab, my surgery are visiting the luxation early next week to give residents from that surgery the jab.

Good morning from sunny, at the moment, Colchester. Raining on and off and feeling chilly compared to recent weeks.
Shopping and rearranging rearrangements today.... Covid life is soooo complicated.

Pantglas you are very young as everyone 50 and over is getting a free flu jab this year. 65 plus now and others later in the year. Is it not the same in Wales?

Much love to all.

Good morning all from a very wet Suffolk coast. DH and I were sitting in the garden yesterday looking out to sea which was bright and sunny. We looked behind us and he sky was black and heading our way. Just got indoors before the heavens opened. Even had rumbles of thunder and a flash of lightning.

Had a lovely walk and picked a few remaining blackberries which I will put in a crumble. DH isn’t keen because of the pips but autumn wouldn’t be the same with the flavour of blackberries. You’re right Pantglas there were hardly any left.

I spent the afternoon peeling, chopping and simmering. Made 6 jars of chutney and some tomato passata. There’s are rather a lot seeds as the toms were small, . Oh well I’ve done my best. Might make lemon curd today. ?.

We had planned to go up the coast to get the little ferry boat over to Felixstowe for the best fish and chips but the weather might put paid to that. My cousin lives in Felixstowe and we had hoped to meet up. Haven’t seen her for probably 20 years. We speak often in the phone, though.

Sorry Scentia to hear you have given in your notice. We could hear how much you loved it. What a shame!

Grandmattie enjoy your day with your son.

Beuaregard I hope your DB is ok and recovers well.

Best wishes to all. ??

Happy 7th birthday to your GS Sar A new helmet will be a very welcome present. ??
What an upsetting day for you Susan compounded by lack of communication or help from your useless brothers leaving you to carry the load?. Hope you have a better day knowing you are doing your best for your Mum at such a sad time in your lives. ?

Good morning all, another Autumn morning here in Glasgow. Yesterday was beautiful.

I'm so sorry to hear about your job Scentia and Beauregard, I hope your brother improves soon.

As I seem to have had such a busy week, I'm catching up on everything today. A bit of cleaning and some alterations. Nothing ever fits me in the arms!☹️

DH and I went bramble picking yesterday, it was the loveliest of Autumn days and I found it so therapeutic, apart from the fall into the bushes!?
I lost my balance, fell into the bushes and ended up minus a shoe, with one leg in the air, the remaining foot shoeless on soggy ground and the only thing stopping me landing on my backside was my walking stick.
DH was oblivious as always, until he he heard, ^Oh, oh, oh, aaaaaaaargh, help!!! ?, as I teetered above the bushes.
Most of the brambles were gone, sorry Pants, but I did manage to make another 4llbs of bramble jelly.
The first photo is of DH. I sent him into the bushes, he has more padding than me!?
The second photo is of the bush, I fell into!? It was rather prickly.
For all the disasters, it was a great tonic!

I came back to a letter inviting me to attend a flu jab in my local football stadium. The NHS are doing a mass immunisation in huge venues!

Also I managed to get my hair cut in an empty salon. It was great to get out and have a gossip with the two hairdressers, who were very supportive when DD's wedding was cancelled.
I have been going there since I started working in the school next door thirty years ago! It's like going out for coffee with friends! ?
I decided to go shorter than usual, as I suspect more shielding is a possibility.☹️ However, I didn't mean that short!?

As always, thinking of our dear, missing friends and those of us battling ill health and family problems. ?

Good morning Mick and all

Grey and damp here in S E Essex, I can see a chink of blue and the sun is peeping through.

A pottering day today.

Thinking of all our absent friends.
gillybob ??
Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Good morning all from a sunny bit nip in the air here in Glasgow. Rain overnight saves me watering the garden. Every cloud and all that.

DD2 took delivery of a new dishwasher yesterday. She had disconnected the old one and with the help of GD1 they managed to get it outdoors. Her new machine arrived and the friendly chaps kindly left it in her kitchen and she set to work installing it. GDs we both very impressed as was DH. When we FaceTimed after school I was pleased to hear the sense of achievement in her voice as DH went over a check list with her? She is her Mother’s Daughter. ?

A few more tulip bulbs to plant and a bit more power washing are my plans for today plus a white wash to hang out.

Sorry to hear the worrying news of your brother Beauregard
What a shame your position has been lost Scentia. Your skills must surely be needed elsewhere. ?

Wishing everyone a pleasant day and a better one if you are struggling through difficult times.

Good morning from Shropshire. Its rained overnight but the sun is shining now.

Had a nice day yesterday ruined late afternoon by a two hour telephone call with my mum.Trying to explain in the nicest possible way that the same Covid rules apply to her as to everyone else.Felt so upset and drained by the end of it.She was ranting as though I have made the rules up to spoil her fun.No support from my brothers who didn’t answer their phones as they will have known I was calling for help with mum?

Today I finally have my eye screening. It has been cancelled at our local health centre eight times.I said I would travel if they were able to get me an appointment elsewhere so we are going to a centre 45 miles away. Its a nice drive,we can go the country route and avoid the main road. Will take a flask and snack and find somewhere pleasant to stop on the way home.

Scentia,so sorry about your job.Your little DGS will cheer you up?

Thinking of gilly and hoping we hear from you soon?

Sending good wishes to all with illness, anxieties, worries or troubles?

Good morning Mick and everyone, lovely sunny day here in Oxfordshire, but breezy and quite nippy. Last day of Men on the Roof, they’ve done a good job and the roof looks much tidier with fewer holes, they will be pleased to finish I think now the weather has changed.
Hopefully our electricity will stay on today, only 5 hours of power yesterday as we are all on Generators and the fuses keep blowing! Once the new poles are up we should get back to normal.
Men have just arrived so better put the kettle on.
Have a good day everyone and stay warm and stay safe.

Taichinan Thu 24-Sept-20 08:04:22

A very quick good morning to you all from the Angus coast, where it's grey but bright, and cold. Dashing off in a minute to get ready for this morning's four tai chi classes. I did four sets with two classes last night. They are really going to have to start relying on their own memories rather than mine so that I can watch. By the time I got home I was exhausted! Slept like a log though!! Art Group ladies coming in this afternoon so we can decide what we're going to do in future as after today we are no longer able to meet in each other's (mine!) houses Have a pleasant day everyone - do just one thing that makes you really happy. Off I go to tai chi! ???

GrannySomerset Thu 24-Sept-20 08:04:05

Disturbed night so am a bit lacklustre this morning but have my U3A book group on Zoom at 10.30 am so will need to get organised soon. We are discussing Michelle Obama’s biography so hope that will be stimulating. I can see that reading will continue to be an important part of my life over the winter as social activity continues to be very limited.

DS and lovely partner are playing a flying visit at the weekend “while we still can” so must clear clutter from spare room and make up beds. So nice to have something to look forward to.

Nannytopsy Thu 24-Sept-20 07:53:50

Good morning Mick and all his followers. It’s been very wet in Suffolk and its still raining this morning. As always, I needed just one more day to finish my new flower bed, then the rain would have settled the plants in. That reminds me - there are two bags of soil conditioner (aka manure!) in the car boot. Must move those! ?
A very enthusiastic heating engineer arrived yesterday, who raced up and down the stairs, disappeared into the under stair cupboard and fixed our problem. Something was wired wrongly and the system can’t have worked properly since the house was built 9 years ago. He wasn’t very complimentary about electricians who work on heating systems!
Since I can’t work in the garden I shall aim to finish the ironing today. The cat also gets to meet his new vet, for his annual service and vaccinations.
I hope the day is kind to everyone. Take care!

Pantglas2 Thu 24-Sept-20 07:51:10

Morning all from a dry but grey north Wales where I’ve just awoken to the sound of DH bringing the chamberpot ☕️

All this talk of flu jabs ?has reminded me that I need to book one at Asda - I’m too young (just) to get the freebie and ‘horribly healthy’ as DH described me to Practice Nurse when he booked his for Oct 5th!

I’ve been given some cooking apples so a crumble is calling - just wish I could break quarantine to pick blackberries....I doubt there’ll be many left by now!

Have a good day everyone ?

Sar53 Thu 24-Sept-20 07:45:45

Good morning from a very wet Essex by the sea. It's grey, dark and very miserable.
Supermarket shop this morning, we are going to try the new A@di that opened a couple of weeks ago.
I received an appointment for a telephone consultation with a doctor at the local hospital for next month. Quicker than I expected but I'm not sure what can be achieved over the phone.
Eldest grandson is 7 today, we will pop round with his present later, a helmet to wear when riding his bike.
Have the best Thursday you can and stay safe everyone xx

Urmstongran Thu 24-Sept-20 07:44:02

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s darker now in a morning. Think the forecast is for 30°C again though like yesterday ?

We went for a good long walk along the paseo. Good job Himself had put sunscreen on his pate. Boy it was hot but it was lovely to be beside the beach and sea. Still some sun beds set out but less now. Hotels are all closed, most chiringuitos and some bars. Very quiet but all of us out walking wore our masks.

We headed up along to the marina and called in at my favourite bar there, Kaliedo. I had the most delicious cocktail - a porn star martini and then we walked along to the Metro bar and shared a salad and a pizza. Lovely.

No plans today. The washer is on (taking advantage of the 2 free hours each day from our supplier!) and Himself will be going out to watch the Rangers game at 9pm.

Sorry about your job Scentia you’ve enjoyed it all summer, all your training courses too and the extra money helped when the factory was quiet. Maybe you could take your skills to a different healthcare service?

Hope Thursday is good to us all whether we have any plans or none. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

brook2704 Thu 24-Sept-20 07:41:13

Good morning everyone from a grey cloudy Inverness with a very cold nip in the air... yesterday turned out to be a beautiful autumn sunny day and I carried on with the never ending job of tidying up in the garden
This morning I’ve got an online dance exercise class, I should have gone back to the gym by now but it’s closed permanently and I’m unsure about joining another one yet .. Later I’m meeting up with a friend at the local garden centre for coffee and a chat, I’m looking forward to it ?
Sorry to hear about your job scentia but good that you’ve got your weekends back
Hope all is ok with your brother beauregard
Good idea kitty ? ??
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles and take care whatever the day brings ?

kittylester Thu 24-Sept-20 07:35:41

Morning all from a soggy North Leicestershire.

Ironing for me this morning and a Sainsbury's delivery this pm. My wine was on offer yesterday so I ordered quite a lot - just to be on the safe side. blush

Take care everyone.

harrigran Thu 24-Sept-20 07:30:42

Good morning from a cool, damp NE.
Been awake since 5am so took my book to the spare room and finished it.
Arm a bit painful where I had my flu vaccination, small price to pay.
Parcel coming today from M&S, no problem waiting in as I am not allowed to go anywhere.

NannyJan53 Thu 24-Sept-20 07:21:49

Good morning from a rainy Black Country.

Had a lovely meal last night, and an Eton Mess to share for 'afters'! Rarely have dessert these days, but partner ordered it (with 2 spoons) and I just had to have a taste. I mentioned to Mum on our daily video call that we would pop in beforehand, but she was surprised to see us. Either her hearing is getting worse, or her memory!

I made 2 lasagnes yesterday, one for us and one for DD.

No real plans for today, a bit of housework and ironing I suppose, whilst Partner goes on a bike ride with his club.

Sorry to hear about your brother Beauregard flowers

Wishing everyone a good day, with special thoughts to anyone struggling with ill health or feeling down.

MellowYellow Thu 24-Sept-20 07:21:36

Thank you Sark. In fact I'm sitting out in a hailstorm. In Cornwall! Weird weather!

Sark Thu 24-Sept-20 07:17:39

Beauregard hope your brother's scan etc is ok

Sark Thu 24-Sept-20 07:14:05

Morning everyone. Pale blue sky and dry here in Oxfordshire.
Scentia that is a shame as we could hear how much you enjoyed it.
Grandmafrench hope you had fun with the kayak yesterday.
A few years ago we went kayaking in France. The scenery was stunning but less so our competence as we somehow zig zagged all down the river.
Mellowyellow sounds like a lovely start to the day from your swingseat.
Better get moving as Thursday's always my busiest day at work.
Thinking of all who are under the weather
Have a good day

Beechnut Thu 24-Sept-20 07:09:57

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s been raining and very cloudy.

I have to make an appointment for my flu jab. It’s going to be a car park jab in October.

This morning I’m going to the library to pick up a book I reserved in February and later do some sewing. I bought a long dress and it has a side slit near the bottom and I’m not keen on slits. The other thing I want to make is a fake roman blind for the small bathroom window for when it’s open. The window is now overlooked by a new roof window next door. I don’t expect they want to be looking at an old lady’s bum.

Take great care of yourselves ?

Ashcombe Thu 24-Sept-20 07:08:22

Good morning all from France, where it continues to be overcast. Late yesterday we had thunder and heavy rain so it’s definitely the end of Summer. All meals being partaken indoors is a sure sign!
Good luck to all facing medical interventions and to the rest: enjoy whatever you plan to do! Happy Thursday!

Beauregard Thu 24-Sept-20 07:00:23

Good morning from a dark, wet Derbyshire. It's my supermarket shop day today so I am up early to get there ahead of the masses. It won't be long before I am setting off in the dark. I might call at the garden centre afterwards to buy bulbs and winter bedding plants.

My brother is visiting this morning to have a look at our vacuum cleaner as it seems to be on the way out. He's good with things like that so if it's fixable we'll know. I heard from my niece yesterday that my other brother is in hospital with fluid on his lungs and breathing difficulties. He's having a ct scan and a drain on his lungs so we'll know more later.

Must go and get that shopping done! Hope everyone is feeling well today and has a good day.

grandMattie Thu 24-Sept-20 06:57:11

That’s really sad, Scentia. You’ll get used to having your weekends back very quickly. Would be easier without those wretched restrictions! [hugs]
