I was listening to Radio 4 tonight when they were discussing the Chancellor's announcements and they introduced a former Managing Director of Waitrose whose name was Mark Price.

Has anyone ever had such an appropriate name?

Back in the 60s I worked for a solicitor called Goode and one of his partners was called Cheetham. Their ambition was to find a solicitor to join them call Proper. Sadly a Mr Proper was never found. As a result Messrs Cheetham, Goode & Proper never set up business together.

The inventor of the Flush toilet as we know it today was a Mr. Thomas Crapper. his invention was a huge success amongst the Royal Households and various ornate designs were produced, including those with a painted Eye designed for Gentlemen to aim for!

The phrase ‘Going for a Crap‘ was actually a way of showing off ones wealth and status in being able to afford and own one of his highly prized inventions!

When I lived in a Plymouth back in the 80’s there was an antique dealer living in a beautiful Edwardian terraced house I had to pass on the way to my Doctor’s in the Stoke Area. I wish in those days we had a camera phone because the lovely and ornate house plaque outside gave the name Robin B’Astard. It used to make me chuckle and I often wonder if he’s still there and was it genuine or did he just have a great sense of humour?

I worked years ago at a really big NHS hospital, the man in charge of H&S was called Ken Wood, although he wasn't a mixer of any kind.

Just after the war, my mother saw a local estate agent called “Waite, Waite and Hope” - very apt considering the acute shortage of property!
