The most beautiful song I have ever come accross

The song which always brings a tear to my eye is Forever Autumn by Justin Hayward, but I think I would have to have something a bit more upbeat as well ,not sure yet,but some of the suggestions on here seem worth considering

I've asked for 'hey oh the witch is dead' from the Wizard of Oz. I was a lone parent and when the children were small other parents took great delight in letting me know if the children dared to step out of line. When I mentioned an incident to them they would want to know how I found out, I told them I was a witch, hence the song choice ?

This is a beautiful song , My DH passed away in January and it would have been perfect for his funeral , but it wasn’t to be I only heard the song when Katherine Jenkins sang it on VE Day
celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall . I’m going to listen again now and shed a few more tears I expect , Take care all you lovely posters .

I'm a classical musician and I've already asked for Beim Schlafengehn (on falling asleep) from the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss. Do listen to it and read a translation. It just soars.

Christina Rosetti "When I am dead, my dearest, sing no sad songs for me" a really beautiful poem which sums up so exactly my own feelings.

I certainly don't want any sad songs! "String of Pearls" by the Glen Miller band would be acceptable as I vanish into the fiery furnace but I could think of a lot more.

My favourite is "On My Own" from Les Mis. Their songs are spellbinding.

Earlier this year we had Norman Wisdom 'Young at Heart' for my brother as he was a huge fan and then 'Bring Me Sunshine' because he was just like Eric Morecambe. It put a smile on people's faces but now it just makes me tear up when I hear it.

Beautiful Song! I have chosen Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum and requesting that all of my family & friends get up, dance and clap to it.

B52s Love Shack!! Everyone to dance to it as I hooe to be dancing up in the clouds without my calipers, ankle braces and crutches!!

Some great tunes on here! Someone on here posted Thea Gilmore, Sol Invictus as a winter season song a while back. I fell in love with it, a lovely track to add on my list. Also I’ve just been singing an old favourite to myself, ‘Me & Mrs Jones’ by Billy Paul. I think that would be a suitably enigmatic funeral choice. I don’t want everyone thinking dear old Nan was a complete angel!

Lovely songs but I'm having a Rolling Stones song at my funeral. Not sure which one yet but something loud.

My oldest friend David had Tumbling Dice at the end of his funeral last November. Me, I'd probably have to opt for Sympathy for the Devil!

For my DD for the contemplatery bit we had Stardust by Nat King Cole, because that was his favourite. However he went out to Thank You for the Music by ABBA because we had some memorable occasions at family gatherings putting Abba on and all of us sitting round the table joining in. My DD was always singing so we thought it was really appropriate and a little upbeat as well.

For myself I would love Faurès In Paradisum and/or The Intermezzo from the Cavalleria Rusticano. Still thinking about the 'going out to' music but would have to be a little more upbeat after those two tear jerkers!
