Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,wet and windy here in Brackley this morning , its a storm with a name.
Usual shop early , and get back watch some TV , then after lunch watch cycling on TV a raced based in Belgium, so conditions will be somewhat similar to what I am seeing now .
The Giro tour of Italy starts tomorrow , in this belated cycling season usually held in May .
Take care ,
Mick

If you know, you know!

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 15:33:22

It's great, Kalu. What worries me is that the skeletons may come out of the closet and my cover will be blown! wink grin

Kalu Fri 02-Oct-20 15:26:01

What a worry for you Jan. I hope you hear some positive news soon. In the meantime, we are all here for you if you needs us.?.
Same to you also Urmston. I know you won’t rest until you have had an update. ?for good news. ?

Borrheid, my apologies, just realised I haven’t wished you a warm welcome. When I saw your username I knew exactly where you hail from and were bound to know our lovely Marydoll. Who doesn’t? ? and now it wouldn’t surprise me to learn Dragonfly and Marydoll may well have met each other in a previous life. What a small world.

Jan16 so sorry to hear about your DH,, I hope you hear good news soon.

Urmston I have my fingers crossed for your DD and family. What a worry for you being so far away. Hopefully it will be negative. flowers

Gosh Mary I used to live round the corner in a Teacher's flat. £2 a week rent and rates! We were there 5 years and I still see one of the teachers there. I used to run the football team can you believe! My first term there I had 49 12 year olds in the mornings and 45 5 year olds in the afternoons - a bit of a challenge to say the least!

EllanVannin Fri 02-Oct-20 14:17:31

Jan, I can second that this year has been the worst ever. I sincerely hope that all's well with your DH and hope it can be remedied soon. Sending best wishes and flowers

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 13:38:54

dragonfly it is no more! Razed to the ground and a purpose built family centre built in its place!
When our school boiler burst over Christmas, I was decanted down there with classes. I loved it so much, I didn't want to go back to my own school!!!

It was amalgamated with one at the top of a hill, beginning with Spr.... and given a new name.

Jan some virual hugs for you.

LauraNorder Fri 02-Oct-20 13:27:24

Jan, Sark, Urm, thinking about you all in times of trouble, would love to be a part of the gran group hug for you all

brook2704 Fri 02-Oct-20 13:03:31

Hoping your DD and family all recover soon urmston - what a worrying time
Jan I hope things improve soon for your DH, another worry
But a big thank you for such an uplifting positive post grandmafrench and yes let’s all give each other a virtual big hug right now, sounds like we all need it ❤️

dragonfly46 Fri 02-Oct-20 12:49:48

Oh Jan16 how awful for you. I do hope your DH is back home soon.

Marydoll my school began with an A!

annsixty Fri 02-Oct-20 12:47:22

So sorry to hear your news Jan
I hope you soon get a phone call to say he is being treated and that he will soon be home with you.
Please keep us in touch with how things are.

My husband has just been taken off to hospital by ambulance and because of COVID I wasn’t allowed to go. He’s had a dreadful year and for reasons too complicated to explain has had to have a catheter. This catheter has caused no end of problems including passing blood which GP and surgeon said was nothing to worry about. However last night there was a lot of bleeding so rang the Community Nurse who immediately dialled 999. He walked to the ambulance and now I just wait for a phone call. What a terrible year 2020 has been for so many of us

A late morning all from a windy South Notts.

Made some Damper earlier today - hope it's better than the last effort which was damper than it should have been due I think, to forgetting to pre-heat the oven. Such a simple recipe which requires no kneading or proving which is a boon as I no longer have an airing cupboard.

A quiet day, no visiting my sister has she has the sniffles and may be infectious. Hope that's all it is.

Keep safe everyone and hope things get better, especially for those with illness or worries.

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 11:40:33

Urmston I'm keeping you all in my thoughts and praying for a positive outcome.

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 11:38:48

Dragonfly I taught there too!
However, the question is, which one? There are five! ?

dragonfly46 Fri 02-Oct-20 11:30:12

Sorry to hear you have not been well Cherry again. I hope you feel better for the weekend.

Urmston I had no idea your DD and SiL had been tested. I know it can't be easy, despite the sunshine, to be so far away. I do hope the tests come back negative or at least they have mild cases.

dragonfly46 Fri 02-Oct-20 11:26:57

Welcome Borrheid I think I know where you come from. I used to live there and taught in the local primary school!

hollysteers Fri 02-Oct-20 11:21:34

Morning all,
Pleasant October day here in Suet on Sea ?. I’m trying not to be down in the mouth re restrictions here and have just pottered around a quiet Range choosing fake flowers for a nice big blue and white water jug which belonged to my MIL.
My gd visited yesterday and we trotted around town and had a delicious panini. I might treat myself to an all day brekkers and won’t have to cook tonight and will watch Anne with an E on Netflix.

EllanVannin Fri 02-Oct-20 11:17:39

A worry for you Urmston and not being there you'll feel it more, though if you'd been there there wouldn't be much you could do anyway. What a horrible situation.
I hope their illnesses don't come to anything. I'd be mortified if that were me as you do worry for, and about your family.xx

CherryCezzy Fri 02-Oct-20 11:14:51

Good morning everyone, it's an 'orrid day here in the Gower. Complete contrast to yesterday where the weather was lovely, thank heavens as we were hanging around for 4 hours having our car done.

Pantglas you've cheered me up no end by giving me my first laugh of the day, ^cherrycezzy.... not clever*. Doesn't a degree and a post grad' count anymore ?. Thank you, that's helped perk me up ?

I think we're going to have to have an austerity c......s this year as yesterday we spent all our money! Well sort of.... we put a deposit on a new car ☺️. It wasn't ^exactly what we had intended to do but we have been wanting to replace our car. We just couldn't resist since we saw the make and model we've been lusting after and at an excellent price too. It was sat there looking at us with doleful eyes asking us if it could come and live with us. You can all tell I'm excited to be offering it a new home can't you ?

Thanks for thinking about me Susan I do still feel wiped out but I soldier on. I hope that a few quiet days reinvigorate you ?

grandMattie sorry to hear that you've been going through a difficult patch, I hope there's now a more positive end in sight ?

Sark I think Grandmafrench has pretty much said everything I wanted to say to you. Yes, others have worries but yours are no less significant since worries are worries. If it helps to share and we can support you in any way at all never fear expressing them ?.

I don't see why your oncologist would disagree with your surgeon dragonfly and if radiotherapy is recommended then it's better to be safe than sorry. If you are faced with going ahead with the surgery instead the same applies. Think positively, you will get there ???

Grammaretto I promise not to mention a certain children's book character and I hope the surveyor has less gloomy news. I send you ? to you and your DH and hope for less difficult times for you.

I hope fears of the virus for your DD and SiL prove to be unfounded and your DGC's are safe from it too Urmstongran ?
Like you and Grandmafrench I think a group hug is an excellent idea. There are quite a lot of us in that hug though so perhaps a circle where each one of us hugs the person standing next to us and then we all move around so that each one of us gives a personal hug to the other ?.

Please stay safe everyone and be kind to yourselves ❤️

Foul wet day here in Malvern. Sorry to hear so many of you are under the weather, and special good wishes to Sark. I had my flu jab last Monday. I don't usually feel unwell after it but get a hard sore lump at the site of the injection. This year no reaction whatsoever. Now off to finish knitting some Christmas present.

Feelingmyage55 Fri 02-Oct-20 10:57:32

EllanVannin. My plants are looking good!

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 02-Oct-20 10:56:47

Morning all from bright Harrogate - can't say it's good!!Have spent the morning trying to find out from Virginmedia why the surgery and hospital have been unable to get through to me, the phone was not busy yesterday until I got on to virginmedia and they told me I'd blocked the numbers!!!! Been trying to find out quite how this has happened and they cut off from me!!!!! seem to have spent most of the week on the phone with not good results. Last night 8.45pm tried to amend my Asda order - flashing on my screen it was telling me I have until 10pm to do it, and the message came up my time has expired!!! Another call eventually they agreed they were in the wrong and are delivering the amended order 9 - 10pm tomorrow night, the main order is this pm

Anyway, Sark, hope you have some good news soon.
Hope everyone has the best day they can today!

Feelingmyage55 Fri 02-Oct-20 10:53:02

Good morning from a drookit but sunny n9rth of Scotland. I have just posted on the Thursday thread before reading!!!!!! Washing out, maga grocery delivery unpacked, bed changed, soup made and now the joys of the French Open await. I only watch the men?
Now I’ll go and read the correct thread so congratulations where appropriate and hoping for better health and better times for all of us and those who are special to us.

EllanVannin Fri 02-Oct-20 10:47:00

Good Morning All x.
Thinking of Sark and her family worries. I certainly know what they're like. flowers

Bright and slightly breezy having missed out on the gales experienced Southwards, though no doubt our time will come. More gaggles of geese flying over, brilliant.

I noticed we're going under tighter restrictions from midnight here----nobody inside houses. What's new ? I'm starting to lose my power of speaking, but thank goodness for the internet and the interest and focus I have on the subject of MOJ which I've followed for nearly 9 years, bowel-gripping stuff grin

I had the funniest of dreams, the first I can remember for a long time. I was in M&S which appeared to be near closing time and on a shelf were a pack of 4 scones, though one had a chunk out of it and it was burnt as well. I picked it up meaning to remove the duff one and a mean-looking man took it out of my hand and scooted off. hahahaha.
I woke up disgruntled and " sconeless ".
I must make sure I'm well locked-in next time I bake ! grin

Anyway I've had my crumpets before they vanish.
A bit of cleaning today and I mean a bit as the cats are in and don't like the hoover. In fact it's so quiet here that any sound seems to startle them lately.

Many of you have upsets/ struggles today so I hope things ease off a bit for you all. Gilly is in my thoughts too xx

My Aussie silver coin was delivered yesterday and I had to pay duty on it, which I expected but had to write a cheque because I didn't have £24 in my purse, no ATM machine near either. It had come from Texas and not Perth where it was minted. Only 30,000 of them minted.

Stay safe all of you and enjoy your day.xx
