Good Morning Everyone ,
Its a dark, wet and windy start this morning with Storm Alex lurking about here in Brackley .
Today, my usual trip to Buckingham and Bicester , plans are to head back home, once I had a coffee and maybe a pork and stuffing bap , then a small shop ,and get bus back, then relax before I watch the Giro on Eurosport .
Take Care ,
Mick

So sorry , very best wishes to the birthday girls.
80 is a very good number Ellan

I would be on the bender with you Georgesgran and Maw if only I didn’t need to stop whileI wait for my op and be on strong painkillers afterwards.
When looking after my H and after he died, I relied on a drink most nights to help me cope.
Don’t call that a weakness until you have been through it all as we have.

Now , Good morning to you all, it is wet and dark here in Stockport and I was woken at 4am by a cat fight on the landing.
We have a visiting, very bold cat who uses me as a larder.
I must get a new cat flap, one on which the lock works.

Molly saw it off and stayed out for a while but was snuggled up to me at 7:30.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Wishing you a very Happy 80th Birthday EllanVannin I hope you enjoy your special day! ??

Stilllearning Sat 03-Oct-20 11:55:51

Coffee break and more time to catch up! A very happy 80th birthday Ellanvannin, and happy birthday also to Beauregard.
So nice that you can least join in with your GD,S wedding AuntieFlo, it must be really hard not to be with your family but this would all be a lot worse without technology wouldn’t it?
I love the mental images conjured up by Bellasnana and cornergran of grandchildren putting them in a pocket or under a couch to look for something!
Hope your pain eases as the day goes on Marydoll, bad enough to have sleepless nights. As ever good wishes to everyone especially those with worries.

Georgesgran Sat 03-Oct-20 11:53:50

Good morning from Durham.
Absolutely lashing down today which makes our lockdown even more restrictive - don’t fancy going for a walk and coming back like a drowned rat!

Best wishes to those of us with worries, illness or responsibilities caring for others and Good wishes for those trying to celebrate a special occasion. Special thoughts for us locked down/in/up ?too.

A thread yesterday after Sober October - not a cat in hell’s chance!! I’m with MawB and on a bender ‘til Crimbo(?)but I will send a cheque off to MacMillan. X

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:52:36

Good morning Mick and all

Grey and wet here in S E Essex.

Another bad nights sleep, why do things worry us so much in the middle of the night that we wouldn’t give a moments thought to
In the day ?

Thinking of my dear virtual friend Urmstomgran it is a worry when our family members are poorly, but Covid and being so far away is so sad for you all ??

Happy Birthday to our beauregard and EllanVannin ??????

Sending (((hugs))) to all poorly and sad friends.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Jaxjacky Sat 03-Oct-20 11:42:51

Borrheid55 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:19:40

Morning all! Late start this morning. We had heavy rain most of the night but stopped for the moment. Marydoll sorry to hear you’re under the weather - chocolate usually helps!
My DH woke me this morning at 06:45 when he came home from work. I think he thinks he is very quiet but I can tell exactly what his movements are from unlocking the door, going to the boot of the car for his hold-all, putting it indoors, bipping the car door, closing the front door even taking off his size 13 shoes! I yelled ‘good morning’ ( as he is deaf!) then turned over and went back to sleep. You’d think after 11 years of night shift I would be used to it, but he still wakes me! At least, when he then watches TV, he uses the headphones I gave him - best present ever!
Nothing planned for the day except the papers, the Jumbo Times xword and a cuppa. Have a good day everyone. Hope those that are poorly feel better!

Marydoll Sat 03-Oct-20 11:18:27

Ellan Vannin, warmest birthday wished from me too! ?

19Maria61 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:16:05

Kalu Sat 03-Oct-20 11:15:50

Happy 80th Birthday EllanVannin???. Enjoy your box of goodies. ??

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:15:20

Good Morning all from a wet, dreary, cold, Harrogate!
Scentia I hope all is well with your GS. Urmston - hope your family have the symptomless version and are soon better. I have been told to get a test after I started yet another cough last week - am sure it will be negative Sorry for your pain, Marydoll, hope it has eased by now.
So cold here, think it's time to put away the summer clothes and get out the winter ones.

All the best for all

CherryCezzy Sat 03-Oct-20 11:14:21

Popping back again.

The hospital will get to the root of your worrying DH's issue Jan16, he's where he needs to be. Wishing good news for him and you very soon ?

? Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you ?, Ellan. Have a great day ? ? ?

LauraNorder Sat 03-Oct-20 11:09:46

Very happy special birthday wishes EllanVannin, lots of cards and a big bag of goodies sounds wonderful. Sad to be missing the visit from GGC but not worth the risk, big party next year instead.

LauraNorder Sat 03-Oct-20 11:04:44

Good morning Mick and all Mick's fan club/followers from a dull, but not windy yet, Anglesey
Special thoughts to Scentia and Urm, must be a worry for you. If your post was all about you Urm that would be a first for you and totally forgivable under the circumstances, nothing came across as snippy either.
Bellasnonna how lovely to be held close and all pink in your Granddaughter's pocket. Stay cool in those roasting temperatures,
Nannytopsy I read your name as Nannytospy at first, full of intrigue.
Happy Birthday Beauregard, hope it's a good one.
Jan16 hope your husband is okay, glad you are able to chat on phone at least and hope you get to visit soon, or better still hope he's soon home safely.
Lots of flu jabs happening today, well done all, hope your side effects are short lived Marydoll, keep eating the chocolate.
Happy wine day Norstat, sounds good to me.
AuntiFlo what a lovely vision, you in your glad rags on the sofa watching the wedding, a happy/sad day for you.
Sorry you had a bad night Maw but as usual your witticisms made me giggle, always so upbeat.
I know the feeling Kitty, nice to know what the potential new neighbours look like. The derelict house next door is up for auction this month, our house is draped in scaffold so can't see all the viewers coming and going but have met a few when I'm in the garden (more often than usual). Hoping for one in particular but against another who was very loud and full of advice about what we should have done to our house.
Cherrycezzy, I share your passion for non artistic artwork and just love to slosh paint on canvas and hope for some happy accidents.
In fact you've inspired me, so that's what I'll do today.
Have a good and safe day everyone.

gillgran Sat 03-Oct-20 11:02:31

EllanVannin, Yes, do look forward to a celebration next year, but for now, I send you very warm wishes for your very special birthday, flowers xx

EllanVannin Sat 03-Oct-20 10:47:46

Good Morning All x.
It's a bit brighter out now as I thought I'd have to leave the light on all day. Rather damp out but not the promised gales thank goodness.

A quick scurry to the local shop and that will do me for the day. I would normally be celebrating my 80th but it's on hold until next year. Received a big box of goodies yesterday from my 4 close friends who dine and it really was a lovely surprise. Plenty of cards and an " acceptable " cheque from brother.

Possibly a visit from D at some point in the day, but sadly no GGC as at one of their schools a pupil tested positive for the virus, so the risk is there. If I thought I wouldn't have such a bad do of it I'd take the risk, but I don't think it's worth it at this stage with this restricted area.

Urmston I hope your family don't suffer too much and Scentia that the results turn out to be negative. The damn thing is everywhere. It gets on your nerves.

Jan, I hope your DH gets on alright. It sounds to me like a polyp that has burst---mainly harmless things, just a nuisance and you do get them in the bladder. Sending good wishes.

Poor you Marydoll, you will feel the effects of the 'flu jab with your resistance being low. Just take things easy.

This is a dreadful time of year for ills at the best of times without the virus joining in so look after yourselves everyone xx Thoughts to Gilly who's had over a non-stop year of it x

Stay safe all.

Feelingmyage55 Sat 03-Oct-20 10:27:05

Good morning from a grey and very wet north of Scotland. I did a “big clean” yesterday including taking the oven apart! I think the extra activity was worry driven. I either do a lot or a little but not much in between. I am rewarding myself wit a tennis and cycling binge.
Beauregard Happy birthday
Jan16. What a worry. Hope you get some reassurance when you visit.
Scentia let us know the results. Hope your DG bounces back.
Marydoll chronic pain is ghastly. Hope you fell better as the day goes on.
I wish you all find something to enjoy in the day whether it be a nice lunch, a good book, a phone call or some comforting/uplifting music.

Taichinan Sat 03-Oct-20 10:24:23

Good morning Mick and all from the middle of an Amber weather warning. It's dark and wet here in Angus but I am assured there's worse to come. Oh the joys I'm very late to the feast this morning as I slept late after not having fallen asleep til well after 3am, so I haven't read any posts yet. I shall save that pleasure until later - I think there are 60 of you ahead of me!! It was one of those glorious autumn days yesterday from sunrise to sunset so I took myself off for a drive to the M&S food store. That's a favourite jaunt for me - but really I should have taken myself up a glen in such lovely weather! The Canada geese are out in force this morning and skein upon skein of them have been flying over all the time I've been typing. A lovely sight, even on this horrid day. Enjoy your bap Mick, and Scentia I hope the news of your DGS is good. Your pooch has certainly enjoyed his excavation of your sofa! Stay safe and dry everyone. ???

CherryCezzy Sat 03-Oct-20 10:19:16

Just popping back to say to dragonfly I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad night, understandable at the moment but nevertheless .... I hope you have a better night tonight ?

Marydoll, similarly sorry that you had an 'orrible night and endured such pain ? You are right to take it easy today, though that never appears to be the Marydoll way ?.

AuntieFlo, don your hat, you will virtually be there for your DG's wedding day ,? to the bride and groom ??.

Kalu Sat 03-Oct-20 10:16:41

A rotten night for you too I’m sorry to hear Marydoll. I hope your pain has abated to give you a restful deserved day. But don’t eat too much ? you naughty besom. ?

GrannySomerset Sat 03-Oct-20 09:55:00

All behind this morning. The man who is coming to replace the utility room roof has arrived to make temporary repairs after I emailed him last night to ask for an earlier date as we had puddles on the floor. Didn’t expect such a prompt response and am still hoping he can do the proper job soon, but much appreciate such unasked for service.

Dismal day and forecast so another indoor day is inevitable. Thinking of all our posters who are worried or unwell. It is going to be a very long winter I fear.

Kalu Sat 03-Oct-20 09:53:46

You didn’t come across as nippy Urmston. Your head must be all over the place with worry. Wishing your DD and SiL a speedy recovery. ?

hollysteers Sat 03-Oct-20 09:52:35

Guten Morgen from a wet seaside town. Going back into town as left behind a small pedal bin. The tall heavy steel kitchen bin is in the garage. I realised I did not need an awkward monster now alone, even with frequent family visits. The cat is staring me out for food after jumping through the bedroom window (no cat flap) She now has the occasional Dreamie treat and would live on them.
Big thrill, will finish E.M.Forster’s Where Angels Fear to Tread which hardly engaged me although it’s a lovely edition, and start a Dorothy Whipple.
Sending thoughts to all who have worries.
