Good morning, Michael and all GNs. As Mapleleaf has said, the sun is trying its darndest in South Yorkshire this morning, but it’s cold. Hope you get your electrics sorted soon, Maple. We may wrap up and go for a walk later, but I have a couple of phone calls to make first. Have a good safe day, whatever it holds for you.

Yes NannyJan I had to ask! A scrum master is someone who manages a team and removes the obstacles which may be in their way to get a job done! It came in handy for our Zoom 'Call my Bluff' the other night!

Elizabeth you are looking wonderful.

Oh kitty leaky ceilings are indeed a real pain. I do hope you get it sorted out before the winter.

Morning from sunny (not) S Lanarkshire. Your description of Plymouth took me back Beauregard. DD3 and her husband, both in navy, !ived there for several years and when she went into hospital to have her first child I booked a B&B and jumped on a train (10 hour journey from Glasgow). I remember walking all round the harbour area for hours waiting for my son in law to phone and wondering if I’d done the right thing. Fortunately she was thrilled and it was such a joy to get to hold my first grandson.
Enjoy your break and good wishes to everyone.

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s not windy either. A perfect day for our Ladies Who wine! ??

No text message nor one bell yet from our COVID warriors. Day 6 for them today. They say they feel as though they’ve made slight progress but still cannot go all day without an afternoon sleep. Understandable really.

Regards Covid I read yesterday that Manchester is a hot spot with 1 in only 200 having it. Sheffield & Leeds in a bad way too now. All university places hence the high figures.

I didn’t realise how awful the floods have been in France, just north of Nice. Such shocking footage on the news.

Are you sleeping any better GG13? I had a one-off bad night last night - goodness knows how you’ve been functioning.

Elizabeth you are so pretty and much YOUNGER than I thought. I hope your recovery goes from strength to strength.

Time to share this iPad. I miss having my own!

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It is actually not raining here at the moment!
I will get up in a minute.
The trouble is, DH brings me a cup of tea, I switch on GN and lose myself for ages.

Lovely picture Elizabeth1 and good luck with your recovery.

Ginster we used to live in Rayleigh, but it was so long ago that I don't remember the Mount.

Nothing much doing today, except for volunteering this afternoon, and after weeks of reduced hours, we are 'working' longer today.

To Gillybob and all who are struggling or under the weather, best wishes.
Have a good day one and all.

Elizabeth, good to see you out and about! I wouldn't have recognised you!! You look lovely and bright. Take care and no more falls.

Marydoll Tue 06-Oct-20 08:30:21

Good morning all from a grey Glasgow with showers predicted. ?
I had another disturbed night and am exceedingly grumpy! Don't say you haven't been warned! ?

Yesterday was totally uneventful until dinnertime. My neighbour phoned across to ask what the fire was behind our house. What fire? ? I rushed hobbled upstairs to see what was happening.
The sky was full of black smoke and I could see orange flames against the dark sky, behind the trees. How on earth could I have missed that?
There was no sign of the fire service. It's really odd because the fire station is only at the end of our road.
Neighbour called the fire service and I called DH to help me close the windows. Been there, seen, it, done it before.
Did he come when I called, did he heck!
Anyway, the fire was out within the hour, but we still can't see the wood for trees, so don't know what was burning.

Later on watching TV, I heard a car outside, then I was sure I could hear someone in our drive. DH said I was imagining things. I went out to the porch, the outside light was on and I could see a masked man in the drive!! ? I got such a fright, thinking it was a prowler. The man started waving at me.
I've left you a parcel, hen! I didn't want to ring your bell and disturb you, as it is so late!! Who delivers parcels at 9.30 in the evening, leaves it on the step and walks away without alerting the recipient???
Where was DH? Oblivious as usual and lying relaxing on the couch.
I have renamed him, the The Scarlet Pimpernel!!!

Sending goos wishes to all who are unwell, especially your daughter, Sark.
Mapleleaf , I hope you get everything sorted quickly. Sorry if I have missed anyone. I am all out of sorts this morning.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from a wet S Welsh coast. Hospital appointment this morning.
Wishing all those with worries and pain some ease today.
Take care.

Gingster Tue 06-Oct-20 08:19:29

Welcome home Ashcombe . You’re a very brave traveller. Well done !

Gingster Tue 06-Oct-20 08:14:50

Good morning. It’s not looking too bad out there. Bluish sky with a few peachy looking clouds. Yesterday afternoon turned out sunny, so we walked up the hill to Rayleigh Mount. An ancient wooded site. Very high up considering Essex is quite flat.

I’m picking my specs up today. Varifocals! Hope I get used to them, quickly. DH couldn’t get on with them at all.

Not much on today. I can’t get used to this inactivity. I’m so used to having my days filled with different hobbies and clubs. Meet ups and social events. I was supposed to be going to North Norfolk next week but now that’s been postponed until the Spring. DH ‘might’go fishing today so I’ll have a quiet house. DD ‘might’ pop in for a coffee . Oh well, it’s going to be a ‘might happen’ sort of day.

DG going back to Uni today. She had a nice weekend at home. She has only had virtual lectures so far but will have a hands on tutorial tomorrow as she is doing Mental Health Nursing.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever you’re doing. ???

harrigran Tue 06-Oct-20 08:11:45

Good morning from a bright NE.
Yesterday was a day of heavy rain.
I can' t remember the last time I was out of the house as we are in strict lockdown.
I have a pile of novels I ordered at the start so I am able to lose myself in stories of warmer climates.

Elizabeth1 Tue 06-Oct-20 08:08:12

Good morning everyone from a pretty dull damp day here on the east coast of Fife I’m hoping the weather picks up later on it’s much nicer to see the sunshine it fairly lifts the spirits. I’ve a busy morning starting with the chiropodist coming to see to both me and my DH. Then a phone conversation from a stroke support volunteer it’s a person who the stroke volunteer organisation has matched me up with because of similar interests and because she’s also experienced a stroke and has recovered well enough to be able to go back to work. Not that I’ll be doing that. I’m also getting a call from my minister who will be updating me on the service held on Sunday or at least the service he’ll be taking this Sunday coming which I hope we can get to. Perhaps I’ll be on a zoom this morning depends on my busy morning schedules. Hey ho I just want my leg to feel less painful and I would like to try and gain my confidence in walking back so that I can finish my daily challenge set by my youngest grandsons. Have a lovely day everyone leave your worries behind think of something nice to set you on your way a day at a time sweet Jesus comes to mind. Who sang that can you tell me?

Ashcombe Tue 06-Oct-20 08:07:30

Good morning, one and all.

Many thanks for all the kind wishes for my journey back from France. I’m pleased to be safely in my beloved Torbay after a journey that proved to be horrendous on the French side. Their roads are poorly lit, even on major interchanges on the peripherique around Caen. Add to that the heavy rain and my elderly eyes and it didn’t go well! We should tell them about cats' eyes!!

The crossing was choppy at times but the onward travel from Portsmouth went well, taking 3.5 hours to cover the distance of 150 miles with one comfort break.

Now to quarantine for 14 days. Today's highlight will be a delivery from Asda!

Best wishes to all on here, especially those in poor health or with worries.

kittylester Tue 06-Oct-20 08:02:36

Good morning all from an overcast bit of North Leicestershire.

I have a hygienist appointment today - the first for a year - I hope she has a pick axe handy!!

And, unfortunately, our roof repair has failed, again!! So more drastic action is called for and the hall remains plastered and undecorated.

Sending love and best wishes to everyone - especially our gilly.

MawB2 Tue 06-Oct-20 07:55:28

Good morning all from N Bucks where it seems to have stopped raining for the time being.
Thinking of those with pain or sorrow and wishing you all some respite and a pleasant day.

Gelisajams Tue 06-Oct-20 07:53:32

Good morning from a damp Morecambe Bay. Lazy day planned for today and a chance to catch up on the mountain of washing that has accumulated from goodness knows where. Beautiful cyclamen Jax one of my favourite plants. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Sark Tue 06-Oct-20 07:49:16

Pittcity Tue 06-Oct-20 07:48:08

Good morning from Colchester where it is still raining.
Hope it stops long enough for my walk into town to help at the Air Ambulance charity shop. The shop is very quiet as people are very wary and I have to wear a mask but I enjoy it.

NannyJan53 Tue 06-Oct-20 07:47:34

Good Morning from another dull Black Country. I don't think I have been out for the last 4 days! Will be out this afternoon for my flu jab! That will be my excitement for the day.

DGD (aged 12) video called me yesterday. She has taken to doing this often lately. We have totally missed our outings etc this year, and I so miss being close and hugging them.

Erm, what is a scrum master Dragonfly ?

Enjoy your trip Beauregard being by the sea is a tonic we could all do with right now.

Wishing you all a dry day! Special thoughts and hugs to gilly

brook2704 Tue 06-Oct-20 07:43:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s just getting light and I think it’s eventually stopped raining!
I’ve an online dance exercise class this morning but nothing much planned after that. The gardens very soggy after all the rain so I don’t think I’ll be doing much gardening until it’s dried out a bit - whenever that is....Those cyclamen look good jax definitely worth repotting up I’d say
Enjoy your trip to Looe beauregard - and your shopping!
Hope everyone has a good day today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

cornergran Tue 06-Oct-20 07:43:22

Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset. May be a jumping in puddles day smile. Heap of ironing for me then lunch in a garden centre to fortify me for some plant and ‘stuff’ shopping. Fortunately trolleys are available as Mr C can’t carry much, he’ll grumble, a more impatient patient I’ve not come across. Thinking of everyone with heavy hearts, take care.

Pantglas2 Tue 06-Oct-20 07:38:18

Morning all from a sopping wet Wales! Good job I intend staying in today!

Those cyclamens look delightful Jaxjacky - wish I had green fingers! I manage a few herbs and my lavender thrives for me to replenish my linen cupboard but that’s about it!

Hope all unwell (Scentia, that includes sore throats!) and not feeling clever t’other wise have a better day, even if it’s only with weather better than mine!☀️

NanKate Tue 06-Oct-20 07:35:01

Morning Mick and All

Grey/blue/pink sky in South Bucks.

How lovely Beau being by the sea. I just love the salty aroma, the call of the seagulls.

Having my feet sorted by my lovely podiatrist, then a bit of shopping before returning home to the tennis in Paris.

Grandmabatty Tue 06-Oct-20 07:34:09

Good morning All. Dampish in Polmont and still a bit gloomy. The sky hasn't woken up yet. Although I was at the loo twice in the night, I feel fairly refreshed which is a welcome change. Having dgs today so we'll go for a walk. Yesterday he spent a lovely half hour splashing in puddles and gazing earnestly down drains then weeding my path. The fish man cometh on a Tuesday so I'll grab something from the van. Have a good day all.
