Will visit our village market this morning where, sadly, we can no longer include coffee and a chat with our purchases of fruit, veg, flowers, plants and all manner of wonderful baked goods. But at least it is running again after so many months without it.

This afternoon I have a WI garden meeting (six, socially distanced) in the garden if our old house. The current owners have done a fantastic job on the house and no doubt the garden will be equally impressive, so I am looking forward to the afternoon and hoping it stays dry.

Missing the Friday girl and hoping we can remain positive in the face of so much dispiriting news.

Morning everyone. Nice cup of tea and read the paper until eight and then made myself go for my Couch to 5k run. Some days are good and full of energy, this one wasn’t! Glad to finish and have a bacon sarnie as a reward!
Yorkshire is dull today, no hint of blue sky so may just have a jigsaw day!

Our part of South Yorkshire is sunny but cloudy, too, for the moment. Chilly though.

We are also in tier two since Wednesday. It's going to be a very long winter if it remains that way, which wouldn't surprise me really.

Welcome sheepandcattle. Your posts are very interesting and informative. We used to have another poster who talked about her life on the farm which was always interesting too.(Apologies if I'm repeating what may already have been said, but I didn't post yesterday nor read yesterday's posts).

I might potter in the garden a bit later if the rain holds off as some of the plants are looking rather straggly, other than that, it's a wait and see what develops day.

It looks like a busy day for us with a visit to DS1 to help with DGC as they both have cold and DIL needs a hand.
In the pm we'll do a fruit and veg shop, then home to carry the bricks left from our new driveway to the garden where DH will use them under the shed.

A quiet day for me as DH has to go for a blood test.
Saw sister from her front drive to wish her a happy birthday, in return she gave me a container of home made soup which will be eaten for lunch as the cupboards are bare.
SIL made it back to Brussels yesterday but involved two flights, he has to have a covid test on day five. Quarantine not a problem for him as he doesn't work.
Can't believe this week is over already.

Good morning Mick and all the gang from dry and calm Anglesey. The builders finished the final coat of lime on the front of the house yesterday, it looks jolly nice so hoping all will be done soon.

Good morning everyone, I haven't posted for a few weeks. I was just feeling a little "off" what with what has been going on with GN and various problems here but I have decided today is another day!!
Its quite bright here in North Surrey and I see we have another posted from my area Dwmxwg, whereabouts are you? I am in Ashford near Staines.
Not a lot happening here today, maybe some houswork (if I must!). I do intend to look at some of the craft sites I have seen recommended on another thread, I want to get some projects lined up for those long winter nights.
My treatment is now in its fifth week and I had a (phone) chat with my consultant this week. Unfortunately its not going as well as she hoped so we are going to a stronger dose. I haven't had much in the way of side effects, just so tired, headaches a bit and redness and puffy legs so I hope the bigger dose doesn't cause any problems. Oh well at least I have the excuse of indulging myself staying at home eating nice goodies!

I haven't been in the kitchen for ages Marydoll but I got 'wind' of that. Such disruption in the kitchen is sad news indeed ?

We went into the village yesterday but need to go back in again today ?. With my brain cell I forget to do two things I needed to do! In a way it's not a bad thing since when I got home I noticed a strange discrepancy in my bank account. I'm wondering if it's due to the scam covid test reminder sms message that I listened but didn't respond to ?.
I must remember not to get derailed when I'm there today though as yesterday I had to visit Seasalt and I had to buy a skirt in the sale ?. That is definitely not why there's a discrepancy in my account though.

With mask and glasses and hair which constantly covers all that, it's only luck that I eventually find myself at any planned destination these days.

Yes, making beds is the very first thing that should be done, and preparing and stocking and cleaning bathroom - so that all involved can collapse and call it a day when they choose, without having to search around for a decent place to wash and rest - and wondering where they left The Toddler . Bassgrammy Why not sit down with a coffee and a good think - try to find something that piques your interest, make a list. Don't get downhearted - we're all here and empathising.

What the hell......? Hope it's not just me. Reading about the Tiers etc., would be more than enough to reduce me to Tears. My Son told us today that on the Sussex/Kent border where he lives, Police are now randomly stopping cars to ask if peoples' journeys are really necessary! What a confusing mess. Do hope that the whole blimmin' thing is easier in action than it is in print - rather than another exercise to make a bad thing worse. Doubtless more changes coming in - even faster than the weather.

kittylester such sad news for your DD's friend's family. My DD's late husband was diagnosed at age 31 when their little babes were just 4 months and 2 years. Aggressive treatment gave him another 10 years to be with them. It is just unbelievably sad. My thoughts are with you all.

I too am loving the chats about life on the farm. I have been a country dweller for most of my life, and in fact when I was very little I decided that when I grew up I would marry a farmer so that I could drive a tractor! In actual fact I married an RAF aircrew navigator - but for one memorable birthday present he arranged with a local farmer for me to drive his tractor. So I ploughed my furrow (and Tommy enjoyed a bottle of whiskey)! Where I am now is arable land and I still derive huge excitement from watching the gigantic machines at harvest time. The little girl still lives within ?
I don't know what's on the cards for me today - yesterday's highlight was fresh haddock from the fishmonger and a tub of their home made Cullen Skunk. All was well with my world!

Damp, grey and cool. ?. Have DD2’s doggies here again, so I’ll be taking them out separately soon. The puppy is wild, so a quick walk with him, then a longer leisurely walk with the older boy.
We are downgraded to Tier2 now. TBH our ‘local population’ infection level is low, but the University students are ramping it up by hundreds a day. Durham is mid-way between Sunderland and Newcastle where the virus is raging in their Universities too - almost 2000 in Newcastle alone.

Do any GN’s live around the Crewe, Nantwich area? My SIL lives that way and is out and about constantly, eating out and in with friends. Is that area very relaxed?

MARS BAR CAKE

Oil a baking tray.

3OZ HARD BLOCK MARGARINE
3 LARGE MARS BARS (or pack of 5 Lidl copycat ones, they are what I use.)
3oz COCO POPS or supermarket own brand. (I use this)
200g of cheap supermarket chocolate. 1 plain, 1 milk.

Melt the marge and cut up Mars bars in microwave in 30 sec bursts. Mix well with a fork until you have a gooey mess, with no lumps.
Add the coco pops, you made need to add a wee bit more.
Spread out in the tin and put in fridge to set. it takes minutes.
Melt your chocolate together and spread over the mix.

Eat and then go on a diet!

Sunny in South Bucks today but a bit too wet underfoot for grass cutting which is annoying. I have a nice lightweight cordless mower but it can’t cope with wet grass. Picking up GD after school and take her to her drama class.. I bring her a picnic to eat in the car on the way as it finishes well past her meal time.
Out to dinner then off to the cinema tonight, only 2nd time since lockdown as there haven’t been many new films released to tempt us to risk it, but thought we would give the new ‘Rebecca’ a try. Face masks weren’t compulsory on our last visit so that’ll be different... ?

Watching TV earlier this morning and reading the subtitles I learned that Wales relied on terrorists for income!! The subtitles can be more amusing than the programme.
Just had a phone call to tell me an old friend died last night, she had been ailing, so was possibly a release.

Good morning from Scotland, still only 5 degrees but supposed to go up to a balmy 9 this afternoon. I shall work in the front garden and chat to all the passers by. After 3 pm is good as all the village children shout hello as they dawdle, run, cycle or scoot past. One tiny child is always on her dad’s shoulders - he doesn’t need to go to the gym and one currently likes to run backwards and I’ve never seen him fall over. Made jam this morning from brambles and will leave some on my lovely neighbours doorstep.
