1000 words. Photos on GN.

They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

You could create a fairy glade in a corner of your garden....they would love that ( the DGC not the fairies) unless you really do have fairies at the bottom of the garden.?

Not sure what it is, Lemon. I was just gobsmacked by this blaze of colour in a fairly scruffy patch of roadside shrubs. Google Lens suggested some kind of cotoneaster but I don't think that's correct.

Thanks for your kind invitation but I'm a tad wary about sailors since my friend set me up on a blind date with someone she said was a seafaring legend and he turned out to be Captain Pugwash! But if I can bring my own marlin spike, just in case of need....?

LauraNorder your sea view reminds me of Borthwen, Llanfaethlu. So beautiful and especially so as you have it to yourself!

We lived just the other side of the bridge for a few years (about where the photographer was standing!) My parents owned the Pen y Bont Hotel which is a bit scruffy now but was lovely in the early 50s! The Conway frequently invaded our cellars.

NotSpaghetti my photo was from Penrhyn but the view is similar to that from Sandy Beach, Trefadog, Borthwen and Church Bay. We lived on the cliff top at Borthwen for many years so the beach was a wonderful playground for our four boys.

The canal at the back of our house today. We've lived here for 40 years and we've never seen the canal totally covered in this green algae before.

I’m not sure that I would have guessed that was a canal, Kate1949, it looks more like grass than water!
Where did you bump into that chap, Ellianne?
Had a lovely reservoir walk today, the autumn colours were glorious. But what happened with the road markings, a council employee with a mischievous sense of humour perhaps?

He was at a local farm shop grannyqueenie.
Our dog ran into someone's green algae pond once thinking it was grass. He got a big shock and needed a good bath afterwards!

Kitty, my husband was an angler, he would have loved that canal, the one outside here regularly gets covered in that "green stuff" as I called it, he called it colour, and said it was the best time to fish when the water was like that.

Hellogirl Was your post to me? Well when we bought the house, we didn't know that canal was right behind the house. We are in Birmingham and I have to say that in these awful times I sometimes go out to stand on the little canal bridge to watch the wildlife, occasional boat (and the fishermen). I did wonder about the fishing. I have seen people fishing through the algae.
