1000 words. Photos on GN.

They say a picture paints a thousand words and there have been some lovely photos on GN recently. I am a visual person and, especially at this time, pictures cheer me up. Autumn scenes, people's gardens, cake baking, craftwork, pets, clothes we fancy buying etc. Even stock images of Boris, royalty etc.
What is the general feeling? Are they superfluous or do they add another dimension? Are we "allowed" to just drop them into a non photographic thread?

The pot of gold didn’t seem to be that far away, Mellow - just down the road! I wondered if someone was getting excited!?

DanniRae Sun 18-Oct-20 09:29:29

Oh, Ellianne what a beautiful photo of your dog! smile Thank you for posting it!! x

Ellianne Sun 18-Oct-20 09:35:56

I've never been to the Peak District, but that landscape looks very peaceful Greyduster.

Sorry if this appears far too materialistic but here’s a picture of my new boots. I am so excited, they only arrived yesterday and smell divine. Will go for walk later to start wearing them in, ages since I have had (or needed) anything new!

FannyCornforth Sun 18-Oct-20 10:00:09

They are lovely! Shiny like conkers!
I like the side zip too (I'd be changing the laces though, I think that they detract from the boots iyswim).

Bathsheba Sun 18-Oct-20 10:09:31

Fab boots Alima smile

Greyduster Sun 18-Oct-20 10:17:45

I’d be very happy to wear those, Alima!

seacliff Sun 18-Oct-20 10:17:58

Gorgeous boots Alima.

As someone who lives in a rather flat Suffolk, I love to see your photos of the Peak District etc.

A very enjoyable and novel idea for a thread.

FannyCornforth Sun 18-Oct-20 10:20:40

Where are your boots from Alima?
They look really good quality.

kittylester Sun 18-Oct-20 10:23:54

Our littlest cat!! She's homegrown!

kittylester Sun 18-Oct-20 10:26:33

Her mum and our Kiwi!

FannyCornforth Sun 18-Oct-20 10:28:44

Aah kitty! I love it when they tuck their front legs underneath.
My present cat doesn't do it - I think that her legs are too long. They are always dangling down. She is quite lanky for a cat!

FannyCornforth Sun 18-Oct-20 10:29:51

Mother Cat looks a formidable lady!

MiniMoon Sun 18-Oct-20 10:30:48

A recent sunset taken looking up the hill from my garden gate. I tried to post a rainbow, but it seems the tablet only wants to do one at a time.

MiniMoon Sun 18-Oct-20 10:46:42

Here is the rainbow, taken in July. That about sums up our summer!

Puzzler61 Sun 18-Oct-20 10:49:46

Beautiful photo’s on here today posters - cats (I love to see everyone’s), rainbows and sunsets. So uplifting on a grey day.
Thanks for cheering me up.

Alima Sun 18-Oct-20 10:51:12

Ooh, lovely picture MiniMoon.
(My boots are from M and S though think they are being superseded by a rather different style, still nice but £26 dearer. Another reason I was chuffed to bits to get them).
Following on from the lovely feline pictures was poised to take one of Tony, one of our “loft” cats looking really comfy on the sofa cushion. Almost in the bag then DH said ‘get closer’ which prompted Tony to leg it. Next time).

Ellianne Sun 18-Oct-20 10:59:31

On guard .... and I'm not joking!

Purplepixie Sun 18-Oct-20 10:59:46

Beautiful photos - thank you to you all. Fabulous.

The flowers on my painting are foxgloves and thank you for all of your kind words. I’ve painted some cat faces which I will post later.

My lovely savoury tea at my favourite cafe, the other day. Love the little pansy decoration.

What a delightful cream tea. If you ever tour The New Forest, make your way to Holmsley. The former railway station has been turned into Holmsley Tea Rooms. What a treat it is too, lots of railway memorabilia, a beautiful setting and delicious meals. They have even got an alcohol licence so a glass of chilled white can accompany your meal, as long as you are not driving.

seacliff Sun 18-Oct-20 11:22:14

Spangler We had a wonderful holiday in the New Forest several years ago, but I missed Holmsley. Looks lovely, thanks, and my husband is interested in old railways, so it will be on our list, when and if we ever get there again.

LauraNorder Sun 18-Oct-20 11:40:23

Too many beauties to admire individually but wanted to say I’m really enjoying them all without exception.

Riverwalk Sun 18-Oct-20 11:57:32

If you want to know what an £8.40 ice cream cornet looks like this is it! However it was during Eat Out to Help Out so a mere £4.20.

I must say it was a work of art - all those layers are ice cream, topped off with a macaron. DGS(14) polished it off no problem.

Puzzler61 Sun 18-Oct-20 12:16:42

Omg! Ice cream and a macaron. Bliss. ?
I made fish cakes - salmon and prawn - chopped Spring onion and coriander, squeeze of lime juice. Fond of homemade fish cakes.

Love your painting PurplePixie - I think it must be really soothing to be able to paint x
