Good morning all from County Durham and welcome Valels, another neighbour, although it is rather a large county.

Today a trip to the big city is planned. Not Durham, but Newcastle. Must admit to feeling rather nervous as we've never been in what I would class as a busy shopping centre for a long, long time. The idea is to look for suitable backpacks for our St. Cuthbert's walk next year. We want something light, yet able to carry suitable clothing and lunches for three days at a time. This will be our Christmas present to one another. One year it was new walking boots. Oh how we like to be practical, but exactly how many bracelets or necklaces does one actually need?I

Have the best day you can everyone.

I like Delia Smith's recipe for Christmas cake Gelisajams, will make mine and the puddings next week.

Good idea Annapops! I like practical presents - I want big planters for the terrace this year. I once had a gearbox for Christmas. ?

Good morning, another rainy day here. I have some sewing to do that will keep me occupied for some time.

Stay safe and well.

Good Morning all from a dreary Harrogate
GrandMattie that's a lovely gesture, I'm sure the shop will appreciate it!
It's a lovely photo Taichinan
Sound like your day is going to be busy Marydoll

Today is my GS's 7th Birthday! Ironic as that is the one number he can't say! His Down syndrome means he is still very small - his 4 year old cousin is taller than him!! He makes up for the height with personality. He was here yesterday, kicking bouncy balls round the house.
Both he as his cousin will be swimming this morning with my DDs, then we are meeting at DD2s house for a pizza birthday lunch!

Please keep safe everyone

Good morning all from grey N Bucks.
I wish I could add to the positivity you all show but I have woken up incredibly down and the slightest thing (finding I am down to my last tube of coffee pods) has had me in tears. I have so far also failed spectacularly to actually speak to a human being at Hermes who failed to pick up a parcel yesterday and whose tracking system fails to recognise the number, so I will have to go to the PO and send it by post at my own expense -having paid for the Hermes nonexistent collection label too. I know it is trivial but it’s the trivia which can be the last straw.
Also and this is at the root of it, it is the anniversary of the death of my little boy, our first baby, all those many many years ago. I have my memories but acutely aware I have no one to share them with any more.
Sorry - I’ll stop now and wish you relief from your worries or ills and as pleasant a day as life can grant you.

Good morning all from a grey Worcestershire. Managed a few hours gardening yesterday between the showers accompanied by a chirruping robin.

A very late Good Morning from a wet Stockport.
No change there then.
I had a dreadful night so have not been awake long I will probably nap this afternoon.

I am so ready for fresh air and some little exercise.
A neighbour has volunteered to take me for my first very short walk outside but the weather isn’t cooperating.

Make the most of your last days away Urmstongran the weather here is really dire.

I hope you enjoy your anniversary meal.
I bless the day my H joined his pension scheme and realise how fortunate we were.
He drew that pension for over twenty years and I benefit from it now.
There are tiny compensations for getting old.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good Morning All x.
Dark wet and generally dreary. I much prefer the brighter crispier days----though I might be sorry I said that grin
Slowly but surely getting jobs done in between 3 hour coffee breaks. I've never been so idle in all my life.

A quick whizz around the local shops for fruit and veg from the greengrocer to make a stir-fry for tomorrow for a change and meat for Sunday of course. I think I fancy a piece of braising steak.
Usual fish and chips today so nice and easy.

Some activity going on at the moment, workmen around tidying up the bottom end of the garden and now there are ladders in front of my patio as the chap upstairs is having his windowsill repaired. How exciting is this ? grin

I can't believe how the time is going so quickly considering this weird way of life. If someone had told us at the beginning of the year that many would spend their time more or less " locked-up " the time would have dragged and you'd have been clock-watching, but this hasn't happened and the year has flown by. It goes to show that the mind can adjust.

Thoughts go to Grammaretto hoping that her DH can join her for the weekend. x
Hoping everyone is well and looking forward to the jollities of Halloween tomorrow if permitted, with GC.
Take care and stay safe everyone. xx Gilly included.flowers

Morning from S Lanarkshire, blue skies beginning to appear so hopefully a walk with a friend this afternoon. SiL came yesterday to take down my brass curtain poles (changing to pelmets), before the painter starts on Monday. He sorted out a couple of problems with the heating system while he was here and I'm very grateful for having someone who can help out like that. Told him he has moved into No 1 son in law slot!
Funny that the issue of smiles behind the masks has come up, I went for my flu jab this morning and said to the staff guiding me along 'I'm smiling behind this' and everyone broke into smiles and waves, it was really nice.
Wishing a good day to everyone.

Good morning*Mick*, Annie and all.
Oh Maw, I am so sorry that you are feeling so low. There is absolutely nothing I can do, but send my sympathy and a virtual hug. I expect that there will be lots of other Good Morningers along soon to give you a boost.
Meanwhile flowers for you.

Yesterday we had all our radiators changed, except the bathroom one, which was replaced when we did that room a couple of years ago.
The two chaps were excellent. Tidy, efficient, quick and nice fellows to boot. It was actually the boss man's birthday, so I gave him a cake with a candle with his tea, and coffee, and tea!
Also I had made some of Marydoll's, Mars Bar Cake, which went down a treat. Thanks Marydoll for the recent recipe.

When I was having my coffee, I found a recipe in next week's Radio Times, for a Mushroom Bourginon, which I made for supper, and very tasty it was too. Luckily I had all the ingredients.

I must go back and catch up on yesterday and today's thread, as I haven't yet read them all.

DH is volunteering this afternoon, and I may well go and do a bit of shopping, hoping it stays dry.

Sending best wishes to all who are poorly or just not feeling too great.
Have a good day one and all.

Auntieflo Fri 30-Oct-20 10:51:00

I forgot to wish our Gillybob, a good morning. I know she isn't posting at the moment, but hope she reads of all the wishes sent her way by her friends on here.

Good morning everyone, welcome from another North Eastener Valels. Enjoy your trip to Newcastle Annapops, been meaning to go for a while but never got round to it and if we go into tier 3 there’s little chance. Will really miss Fenwicks window, been going to see it every Xmas since I was a child. Such is life.

GrannyOwl5 Fri 30-Oct-20 10:54:29

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is bright and breezy. Have been out to the local greengrocers who were brilliant in keeping us all supplied during lockdown. Only a small shop, but very community minded. Enjoyed the walk as yesterday was a washout as far as gallivanting goes.
Have decided to postponed the installation of the new bathroom; will rebook for early May when we can be out of the house more when the workmen are here. Just have to remember what I intend doing so we don’t have to start again!
Friends round later for home made pizza in the garden; we have a couple of patio heaters, several warm throws and a fire pit, but don’t think we shall need any of those as it is so mild.
Hope everyone has a good Friday; keep on plodding on; we will get there in the end. Stay safe

Good morning from a chilly and wet north of Scotland. The new tier system means my AC will not be able to visit next week. I feel a little sorry for myself as I have seen so little of her but much sadder for her as she is working so hard and deserves a rest. I had a telephone appointment this morning with my new GP and while she tried her best it really needed some “hands on” but that is not going to happen. My blood test is long overdue and that is not going to happen any time soon either. I am going to brave the pharmacy for my prescription and may as well go into supermarket and pick up some Hallowe’en bits and also hopefully some Christmas cards in the charity shop. That’s the day sorted Friday fish for tea, then I have a new Val McDermid book for the weekend. Missing gillybob particularly on a Friday. Hope you DH is being well looked after grammaretto and you all find some time to look after yourselves as well as those you care for.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-Oct-20 11:32:54
