Are you an early bird or a late one?

I am always early as I have a fear of being late.
My Radiotherapy appointment is at 9 am and I arrived at the hospital at 8.10!

I’m like you dragonfly because there’s always the worry about finding somewhere to park, or whether there’s a lot of traffic on the road. I always make sure I have a book with me.
I hope you get seen on time.

That is early dragonfly46 I'm always running late because I try to pack too many things into the time I have.
Hope all goes well with your appointment.

dragonfly46 I’m a lifelong early bird if I’m going anywhere. I had an appointment with the GP practice nurse last week and was told don’t arrive early due to covid restrictions. I didn’t approach the building early but I did arrive 20 mins early and sit in the car.

I hope you don’t have too long to wait and everything goes well with your treatment ?

I am early for most things.

Hope your treatment goes ok dragonfly

Me too. Always early.

Hope all is well with you dragonfly

I’m early bird in this case as always way too early for appts etc. My son is just the opposite and I can’t think whywink well I can actually- I think he’d had enough of being more that prompt when growing up! His tardiness does annoy me and his Dad though! Good wishes for today DF

I usually am early but not excessively so but these days people ask you to arrive on time e.g dentists and chiropodist. If you have to wait outside in the cold and rain its better not to be too early.

Always early I hate people who are late.

Gagagran Mon 02-Nov-20 09:14:37

I was born 2 weeks early and have been early for everything ever since. (Or so my Mum used to say!)

Isn't there a saying- "punctuality is the politeness of kings"? I can't bear to be late. grin

I always had appointments to large companies in my working life and was never once late, except one time when there was a major accident on the M25 and I was stuck between junctions.

I used to make the appointments for 10am to give them time to sort themselves out for me so made a point of never being earlier either?

Oldbat1 Mon 02-Nov-20 09:19:12

Always early for everything. I gave birth 10wks early!!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 02-Nov-20 09:23:13

I prefer to be early as I think it's polite and considerate to whoever you're meeting. Sometimes accidents will happen though and if you're as prepared as you can be it will hopefully still result in being on time.

henetha Mon 02-Nov-20 09:27:22

I'm paranoid about not being late, so therefore always arrive too early.

Puzzler61 Mon 02-Nov-20 09:34:01

I like to be early for appointments and take my kindle with me to read in the car. I don’t go in too fearly as we’re being asked not to wait around in dentist, hospitals, etc.
I try to be on time when meeting my friends as some people find it unnerving if I’m always early as it makes them seem as if they are late (if you see what I mean). One of us has to be first though and it’s often me.
My dad was like it too so it could be learned behaviour?

Puzzler61 Mon 02-Nov-20 09:35:08

I was born 4 weeks premature Oldbat, perhaps that’s a reason?

NotSpaghetti Mon 02-Nov-20 09:47:53

I don't like to be late BUT hate people who are early whether for a meeting or just popping in (in the old days) for a coffee.
If you arrange to see them at say, 10am, what makes anyone think 9.40 is acceptable?

FarNorth Mon 02-Nov-20 09:51:16

I have always been very bad for being late for things, or scraping in just in time.
In recent years, tho, I've improved a lot and am usually on time and sometimes early.

dragonfly46 Mon 02-Nov-20 09:56:14

Yes you are right about that NotSpaghetti I never turn up at people's houses early as that is as rude as being late.
My cleaner always arrives at 8.40 and I have told her time and time again to come at 9!!

Anyway appointment done and I am back home!!

gillgran Mon 02-Nov-20 10:01:54

I always try to be at least well 'on time' for appointments, I would hate to be late.

When I first saw your thread, I thought it was about "Larks" & "Owls", I don't fit into either of those, I struggle to get going in the mornings, but also get tired in the evenings.!

Good Wishes for your treatment dragonfly flowers

sazz1 Mon 02-Nov-20 10:05:36

Always a few minutes early for appointments and always phone or text if I'm stuck in traffic.
I think it's very rude to turn up late for anyone.
I'm a night owl so make all appointments for afternoon whenever possible

NotSpaghetti Mon 02-Nov-20 10:11:39

gillgran I also thought it was a larks and owls thread.

Sheilasue Mon 02-Nov-20 10:13:57

Was bought up to always be early for interviews or appointments.
What I do love is getting up early, cup of tea and peaceful morning.

twinnytwin Mon 02-Nov-20 10:14:35

I'm always on time, my twin is always late. Drives me mad. Her new partner likes to be on time or early, so it's improved her timekeeping.
I'm an early bird and wake up early, but don't get out of bed until I've read the paper and had a couple of cups of tea. I go to bed early too. My twin stays up until the early hours and sleeps in until gone 9am.
We were born a month premature - she was first and we always say I must have kicked her out as she's always been late since.

Moggycuddler Mon 02-Nov-20 10:17:27

I try to be just a few minutes early rather than late.
