Why am I 25 Avalon? I just wanted to be plain Avalon but GN said that name was already taken so I couldn’t have it. I have never seen anyone called Avalon on here. Has anyone come across a plain Avalon? I don’t suppose there is much I can do about but I wonder.
Avalon, is the legendary island of Celtic mythology where, according to some sources, King Arthur's Excalibur sword was forged. It is also the place where the mythical king was taken, fatally wounded, to meet his death.
So if you were to decide to change your name you might try Excalibur, chances are though, that might be gone. But, I bet the Latin name for Avalon hasn't been thought of. "Insula Avallonis," or simply "Avallonis."
Very, very occasionally I use my substitute name for a post which may contain information that may identify either myself or someone else. I was going to use it the other day but was told that I couldn’t as the name was already taken. As I have used it, rarely, for years I couldn’t understand why. I did send a message to GN but they haven’t replied. Perhaps someone could report this post and then they may respond?
Name changing. I couldn’t find a way so resigned and rejoined. Said goodbye to peardrop50 and became LauraNorder within five minutes. It suited me better but bear in mind you will have made some connections and will have to start again with a new name.
I guess I’ll just stick with it. If I think of another name that may probably also have been taken and then I’ll be scratching my head trying to find another.
I tried several names before finding one that was accepted. At that point I didn't know that there was also a Doodle and a Doodlebug (and possibly other Doodles), so I apologise to them, as I have been mistaken for one or other of them more than once.
The name that caused hostility wouldn't have been TooYoungToBeA****Gran would it? I don't read everything but that's the only one I recall seeing criticised around here.
If it's any comfort 25Avalon I too had a lot of trouble finding a username Gransnet would accept.
They said Ramblingrose had been taken and I had tried quite a few others before that one so I got fed up and added a random number on the end to get the job done.
I'll get round to changing it eventually, as so many others have done.
The Halifax phone our landline with a code, if we are making an online transaction, Clydesdale send a text to our mobiles. I'm glad they are trying to make things more secure, as frauders are becoming increasingly more sophisticated.
