Really light hearted (superficial and daft) even) thread

On another post, someone suggested that it would be a good idea for posters to have avatars so that it would be easier to recognise each other.

In mind of that, I thought that perhaps we could describe ourselves a little, so that we can have a mental image?

You could start with a well known person who you have been told that you look a bit like; or a person who you would like to look like; or just give three adjectives.

So, to get the ball rolling, MrC thinks that I look like Boy George in his younger days (I know, aren't I the lucky one, blush)

I would love to look like Helena Bonham Carter, but I'd settle for Kirstie Alsop (they are sort of idealised versions of me).

I hope that we have some fun with this thread.
Do with it what you want!
Like I said, it's just a bit daftsmile

4xGranny Mon 16-Nov-20 17:15:47

4xGranny Mon 16-Nov-20 17:14:27

pinkpeony Mon 16-Nov-20 17:08:40

Allegedly, I look like Brenda Blethyn (Vera).

If we can choose who to look like I want to be Anna Ford when she was about 40 please.
I've got a drawing of me done by GD which I think is a much better likeness than my passport photo.

At school I was always told I looked like Morticia in the Adams family. In the 60's and 70's I was frequently told I looked like Cilla Black. Now I look like my mother - old, grey and lined - good job my eyesight's fading.

Mistymoocake Mon 16-Nov-20 16:35:12

lemongrove that owl looks familiar.
There's something about the slightly skewiff beak...

minxie Mon 16-Nov-20 16:15:32

I can’t think of anyone famous that I look like, but my partner says I laugh like a Joan Simms

glammagran Mon 16-Nov-20 16:01:02

I most definitely do not resemble my mother. She was partly Indian, very dark haired and thin. I am blonde with green eyes and not thin (but not very overweight either).

lemongrove Mon 16-Nov-20 15:59:32

I don’t look now ( or ever did) like anyone famous,
This is me hiding behind a furry owl given to me by a GDS

When I was younger I looked like a cross between Delia Smith and Judi Dench.

Now I look like my maternal grandmother. I didn't like her much, so tend to avoid mirrors/photos!

lindiann Mon 16-Nov-20 15:40:36

I was told I look like Anton UMM!!! (Wish I could dance like him two left feet) My DH used to say my Mum looked like the Queen on a dad day smile

Kate1949 Mon 16-Nov-20 15:32:49

As I've said before on a similar thread, when I had my Mary Quant hairstyle in the '60s, someone told me I looked like Paul Mccartney.

Auntieflo Mon 16-Nov-20 15:20:34

Before we were married, I was told I looked like Princess Margaret, sigh ?....
But now I am my mum, my daughter is me, and her daughter, is her.....
Maternal genes run strong here .

FannyCornforth Mon 16-Nov-20 14:55:36

Joplin

I've always been mistaken for Jilly Cooper - the smile & the hair, I believe.

But do you look like Janis?
Janis and Jilly have quite a similar look.

Bluecat

In my younger days, I thought I looked a bit like Stephen Fry. That would have been OK but I'm a woman.....

Like me and Boy George then.
I'm sure that we would make a striking couple!

Lucca Mon 16-Nov-20 14:47:32

Apparently when not she....

Lucca Mon 16-Nov-20 14:47:10

Apparently she. I was very young I looked like a actress call Ed Mimsy Farmer.
I now just look like a wrinkly old lady (with nice hair)

Sheilasue Mon 16-Nov-20 14:44:03

My mum, every one in the family tells me that.

Janiepops Mon 16-Nov-20 14:38:59

That’s my avatar, and the real me!

Scrappydo Mon 16-Nov-20 14:27:42

Apparently I used to look & sound like Pauline Quirke from Birds of a feather according to some work colleagues. Probably because I grew up in Islington London (before it became posh) & sound common?

Purplepoppies Mon 16-Nov-20 14:25:49

Apparently I look like my mums half sister. She in turn looks like my grandmother, so I guess I look like my grandma!
All my girls (dd & two gds) look like me!
But here's my avatar ?

olliebeak Mon 16-Nov-20 14:20:18

One of my nans informed me - at the age of 11 - that I looked like Libby Morris!

I was most upset at the time ................ in 1962, no girl of that age wanted to be told that she looked like Libby Morris - even if she WAS a very talented woman hmm!
