Hello All
I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.
If you fancy popping on for whatever reason, here is the thread for all Night Owls moon
See you later x

Fenwicks window is in - I saw it on tv - Wind in the Willows theme. They have put it online and urged people to view it there, rather than in person.

All your crossed fingers helped last night, so thank you all. I am so sorry for those of you with so much pain. Why are things so much harder to bear at night?! With me it's itching which sounds very trivial I know. I'm beginning to wonder if I have developed psoriasis! I've had a phone consultation with GP which resulted in a cream which did nothing, and then a chat with the pharmacist which produced a cream which does dull the itch for a while but hasn't cured it. Anyway, hence the sleepless nights. And I shall now put on my big girl's pants and stop moaning! It's just lovely to find somewhere where I can find someone to speak to. Thanks for being there all of you ?

Still awake-I’ve tried all my normal sleep inducers but so far they aren’t working. Just debating whether to make tea, but it’s cold out of bed.
Anyone else struggling?

Greenfinch Sun 06-Dec-20 02:57:36

Hi Mollygo. Am wide awake as well .I usually sleep better at the weekend but not tonight. I am quite comfortable in bed so will just try to empty my mind !

BlueBelle Sun 06-Dec-20 04:43:43

Good morning my friends
I ve Been asleep but now awake, as is my norm ?

Grandma70s Sun 06-Dec-20 05:42:23

I’ve been awake since 4 a.m, and feel very fed up. An aching shoulder is partly responsible, but I tend to be an early awaken anyway. It’s very annoying.

Puzzler61 Sun 06-Dec-20 09:10:08

Sorry for the disturbance your aching shoulder is giving you Grandma70s . A snooze later perhaps?
I was woken at 2am, and again at 6am by my cat who seemed agitated last night. Was it a full moon?
She usually lays down and sleeps.

MayBee70 Sun 06-Dec-20 11:07:50

Grandma70’s. What is causing your aching shoulder? I have one, too. I have arthritis all over the place but it has never ached and kept me awake. But since I lost some movement in my shoulder a few months ago it has ached intermittently and seems worse at night. No matter what position I sleep in it still aches.

Puzzler61 Sun 06-Dec-20 13:00:39

Might a lavender bag heated in the microwave before bed help, if you placed it on or near the bad side?

MayBee70 Sun 06-Dec-20 15:01:12

I lie on a hot water bottle but that doesn’t help. I might try a lavender bag tonight though.

Hello everyonemoon
An early turn in for me as usual.
Wishing you all a peaceful and hopefully pain-free night.
(Including all cats and dogs - in my experience, quite often the barrier to a good night's sleeptchhmm)

Taichinan I get the night time itching. I started a thread about it quite recently. It's in the 'health' section.

Puzzler61 Sun 06-Dec-20 21:11:02

Good night FannyCornforth. I hope you are blessed with sleep tonight. It’s a very chilly one.

Taichinan Sun 06-Dec-20 22:52:29

Thanks Danny I'll look for that. Was just thinking of going to bed but it's started up again ?

Taichinan Sun 06-Dec-20 22:53:24

That was meant to be Fanny!

First time posting on Night Owl and putting off going to bed. I enjoy the evenings as no longer think I should be doing useful things.
I also dread waking up in the morning as life is much emptier and a lot of pleasure has disappeared with Covid restrictions.
I’m like Scarlett O’Hara, “I’ll think about it tomorrow” or whatever she said. Quite a lot of procrastination going on...
Ah well, goodnight and I hope you all sleep well.

mumofmadboys Mon 07-Dec-20 03:41:54

Sitting in bed drinking tea. Often have a period of wakefulness in the middle of the night. I quite enjoy sitting in the dark reading my tablet for half an hour with DH snoring next to me!

BlueBelle Mon 07-Dec-20 03:55:32

Good morning all 3.45 and my second wake up of the night
Hopefully I ll be able to go back again
Wouldnt it be nice if there was a brain switch so you could still it for a few hours
Oh well I ll play a few word games and hope I can get another hour or two in
X

I dislike these long hours before dawn, everything goes round in my mind, but nothing is solved. Sympathies to those with Arthritus. I have recently changed my diet, finding that hard, started an exercise plan, set out by a Physio, stopped the very long walks for shorter ones and do feel as if it's helping, only time will tell. Fingers crossed.
Donhelpmyouball get some sleep.

Nana3 Mon 07-Dec-20 04:22:28

Good morning night owls, I'm drinking tea and feel sure I won't get back to sleep now. Good luck with everything Sparkling.

BBbevan Mon 07-Dec-20 04:23:25

Well here we are again then. Quite like the quiet really. DH is fast asleep beside me. Only thing is I have started having a nap after lunch.Bit of a vicious circle.

Greenfinch Mon 07-Dec-20 06:25:53

I got to sleep just after 4 but was awake again at 6. I had an hour or so at midnight. I do wish I could sleep for longer at a stretch. I used to sleep so well when younger.envy I hope for a better night for us all tonight.

FannyCornforth Mon 07-Dec-20 06:52:45

Morning Greenfinch and all.
I had an amazing night's sleep last night, but it's all down to medication.
I'm back on the Amitriptyline, and I also had a pheneragan (sp?) as recommended upthread. They're over the counter stuff, but I got them from one of those online pharmacies.
It also helps that I am absolutely cream crackers these days when I go to bed. The pain is exhausting me.
Weirdly, I woke up about 4 wet through with sweat and freezing cold.
Is this the famous menopausal night sweats?

I've got a telephone consultation with my physio today. I was supposed to go to the hospital but I really didn't want to. I'm scared of picking something (anything ) up and passing it onto DH. Also I really didn't want to get a taxi for the same reason, plus I didn't know how I could walk from taxi to building. I've now got the phone number to arrange transport so I'll be okay for next time.

When you become disabled it is so difficult to know how to find help. It's like living in a different, parallel world.

Stair lift being fitted tomorrow! Woo!
Hope everyone is ok, I know from another thread that Marilla has been struggling.
Have an okay day all, take care and definitely keep warm flowersbrew

Greenfinch Mon 07-Dec-20 11:28:42

Glad you had such a good night Fanny. My DS1 was prescribed Phenegan as a baby for his severe eczema. It helped get him off to sleep. I am going to try magnesium as I am not in pain at the moment.

Taichinan Mon 07-Dec-20 22:43:41

Good to know you had a good night last night Fanny and I hope tonight will be just as good. It was late when I went up last night but I eventually slept until 8.45, so not a bad night for me either. In the good old days I remember that I was a hibernator in winter - I loathe getting up in the dark! But a solid few hours' sleep makes such a difference to my outlook the next day. I was full of the joys today! I am very lucky that I don't have pain to contend with though, (just that blessed itching!) and I really do feel for all of you who do. Here's to a better night tonight for everybody, and I'm off to try warm milk with nutmeg. ?
