Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken to yet a dark and dry morning , and maybe some fog .
Today , I plan I small shop and hopefully get another delivery from Parsley Box .
Feeling a little better , but its avoiding meeting others at close quarters, which I try to avoid ,and my other problem is I have panicked just lately , say in a que ,and experiencing cold conditions outside to to return to my nice warmed flat which feels cosy with the heating on.
I will also be at home for Christmas , I normally go to sister and brother in law in Shropshire .
With current situation , they had planned to go to my niece in Canada, but due to lockdowns over there its off, but we could get together but coronavirus rules state no stopovers , although with my brother it would 4 .
Add to the fact you cannot go to the pub and have a social drink unless you have a meal which restricts it again.
Take Care ,
Mick

Marydoll you have been charged the lower price - must be the teacher in you!! My friend in Alloway also a retired teacher gets her online shop from Morrisons and doesn't have that problem either. Maybe it's just because I am south of the border?

Morning all from South Notts where the weather isn't really doing anything after last nights deluge. Will post the last of the Christmas cards later this morning if the rain doesn't decide to chuck itself down again.

Well, DH going out by himself sounds ominous Sar53 doesn't it? Hope the result is pleasing.

We rely on technology to work don't we Gwen and it's very frustrating when it lets us down. I love my books, sewing and knitting but I can't imagine life without a telly.

Hope all is well with everyone especially little Iris and those with illness or worries.

Good Morning All x.
Sky is going darker as I type and I've had to put the light on now as I could feel myself getting closer to the screen. More rain probably as it didn't stop yesterday with heavy bursts.

I'm glad that things will be sorted with Iris, GrandMattie, it's such a worry with children----into adulthood too ! We never stop worrying.
Loved the tale of the lamb Marydoll, the sort I like smile

Good to see Grandmafrench in upbeat mode and getting on with things.
What a lovely card Bellasnanna. I'm like you with the " perky " feeling---always hoping and praying it isn't short-lived.

Kitty, that bloomin' roof. As I've mentioned before, I can sympathise as we had the self same thing for a long time in a house we were in. It was eventually fixed, but was a pain while it lasted.

I'll be needing fresh milk sometime today so I'll be scurrying round to the corner shop. Meal sorted for today, nice and easy chicken stir-fry. Peppers, onions, mushrooms etc. all on tap in the fridge and chicken slices defrosted last night.

Will give D a ring to see how things are, I don't bother her much as I know how busy she is.
I can't get for going this morning, parcels arriving, now the post and a lovely card with parrots on it from AGC in Australia and a written note inside it for a video chat at some point. I wish I was there !

At this point, crumpets are well eaten so it's a late 11am coffee now. Glad this is only once a year I'm in a flat spin so far grin "Calm down dear "as H would have said, " what's the rush ?" as he'd sit back with everything done, aww.

Thoughts to all and Mick take it easy you're getting a bit overwhelmed with one thing and another. Take care all and stay safe. Always thinking of Gilly x

At last .... good morning everyone from South Manchester! My iPad finally lit up with the Apple logo so here I am.

I wrote Christmas cards yesterday and got 70% of them done. I put ‘Merry Christmas from our bubble to yours!’ on some of the cards where appropriate. Hope it raises a smile.
?

We are on Day 12 of our 14 day quarantine OBSU and I can’t wait to see our Covid warrior (and the two grandchildren and lovely son-in-law) on Saturday afternoon! Thank you for asking about her. It’s been an anxious time for us all these past two months.

I feel your pain Greyduster regards earache. I don’t want to hex things but mine has, I think, finally gone after three and a half weeks. It started in Spain, I got some antibiotics there but had to speak to my GP last week as I was getting concerned. She advised wait another week and if, after quarantine it hadn’t gone, she would see me this Friday. I hope not to need to go. She advised regular ibuprofen and paracetamol and said the antibiotics were probably useless as she suspected an inner ear virus (it occasionally gave me a spinning sensation - horrid). Hope you feel better soon.

And Mick I really feel for you. You live alone and must be missing your trips for a pint in the pubs with your friends. Panic attacks are most unpleasant - no wonder you get the urge to rush back to your warm, safe place. They do pass but are awful to experience. Look how well BlueSapphire is doing now and take inspiration and hope from her.

Time for coffee. I hope Wednesday is kind to us. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Morning all,

It's a brighter morning today with no rain, but still very damp - the roads and paths are not drying up, so it would be a waste of time pegging any washing out.

There are some lovely decorations being posted again today. We plan to start ours at the weekend, at least the outdoor ones anyway.

Got to the hairdresser yesterday, so feel tidy once more. It doesn't take long for my hair to look wild and woolly ?.

So pleased to read that little Iris is feeling a little better today - she's gone through such a big thing, it will take some adjusting to, bless her.

How kind of that lady to give you some decorations Annapops. There are some very kind hearted people about.

Well, I'd better look lively and go and tackle the ever growing ironing pile.

Take care.

Good morning from a misty, cold Norfolk.

Had DGS overnight as DIL and DS on night shifts, early start but not a lot on today so it will be fine.

More parcels arriving today, DH making pickled red cabbage, hoping kitchen won’t smell for too long. Trying to recreate recipe from his childhood.

Every time I think I’ve got Christmas cracked something else crops up , why am I not surprised. AC arrangements are flexible but I feel they will stay at home for all the right reasons. DH and I have never had a Christmas on our own, both a little bit excited if we do to do what we want, will miss them all massively but have agreed to have a fake Christmas all together when it’s safe.

Be safe everyone.

Good afternoon all, sorry to be so late.

grandMattie, I’m glad to hear that your daughter sounded more upbeat. I didn’t realise that you’ve all been going through this for so long, what a little trooper Iris is. I wonder if your ‘job’ could be lifting the spirits of her 10 year old sister so that she feels special too and her parents can concentrate on Iris. Maybe a letter or card to each of them each week and perhaps some nice sparkly trousers for big sister too.
You’ve probably already thought of all that but I mention it because I was three years older than my little sister, she was very sickly, very accident prone and had an awful skin condition throughout her childhood. I remember being quite resentful of all the attention she got (in my immature child’s mind) and I formed a very special relationship with my grandfather who went out of his way to make a fuss of me, lots of interest in my hobbies, little gifts, a regular letter, he always made me feel ‘favoured’, he helped me a lot.

grandMattie Wed 09-Dec-20 16:01:49

Laura, big sister was born on my 62nd birthday, so I always make a fuss of my twin! If I send something to Iris, I make sure she has something in a separate parcel.

LauraNorder Wed 09-Dec-20 16:20:34

Sorry grandMattie, I should have known that would be the case.
Our own experiences can cloud our judgement, again I’m so sorry if I hurt your feelings.
