I hope no-one else has done this or we will get confused- which we all know is very easily done.

Bubbly on the side just in case any one else turns up.

If not, see you tomorrow.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

Keep popping in to see if soop has been able to post, we all miss you very much thanks

Feelingmyage55 Sun 27-Dec-20 11:58:26

Hello all. Very happy to hear MrDoodle is home where he can eat what and when he fancies and have a hot cup of tea. Tea is always cold by the time you get it in hospital and the top of the pot is too weak and the bottom of the pot is black. It is the small comforts of home that will aid his recovery. doodle I hope you get some rest yourself.
Well Christmas was different but not awful and the church in our village managed with the help of technology to offer lovely services and zoom meetings together. I think we all missed singing together but it was all better than could have been hoped.
Snowing here and a beautiful blue sky, birds on the holly tree which is laden with berries this year and my pet robin is on the garden table pecking away at seed so I’m going to get my posh camera out as well as my phone which is too easy and makes me lazy.
“soop” we are missing you.
Time for a walk, big boots on and hot chocolate on return. TOYA

Nannytopsy Sun 27-Dec-20 12:41:57

It’s a beautiful day here too Feeling but cold ?. DH is fighting with a new iPad and identities and passwords - I am keeping well clear.
A day of tidying away, clearing up, start the washing etc and a repeat of last night’s easy meal of cold turkey, pickles etc. A big favourite in this house.
I shall also set up my new telescope on a tripod - such a shame I can’t go somewhere with cracking birdwatching!
Keep warm and safe everyone, especially MrD!

Hello everyone. Bringing sausage rolls from the oven and leaving them in this warm kitchen.
You are in a winter wonderland Feeling and you described it beautifully. Here we have floods higher than any for 3 years. Our city racecourse has disappeared under the water, railings and all.
We do have radiant sunshine which is a plus and a few dry days to follow.
Missing you soop, you came to my mind when I was watching Victoria Wood and the “Two Soups” sketch was shown.
Hoping soop , MacS and Fern are all warm with plenty of provisions especially if they also have snow.
Take care All.

Daisyboots Sun 27-Dec-20 14:23:09

Just popped in for the first time in ages to see I have 19 pages of the new kitchen to catch up with. Good to see that Doodle has her husbandjome and I am sure he will feel much better at home.
I had chemo preceeded by a potassium infusion on the 10th and it made me very ill so when I saw the oncologist on the 17th I refused to have anymore. My husband had to take me there in the wheelchair because I just could not walk. My heart rate had risen to between 120 to 150 bpm so my palliative care doctor prescribed beta blockers so far it is down to between 95 to 120bpm. No wonder I want to sleep all the time. My son managed to get here on the 11th and has been good company for us in a very odd Christmas .
I do hope Soop gets her internet back soon because one feels so cut off without it.
TOYA

Hello Daisyboots. Season’s Greetings to you. I think you are a very brave and lovely lady and I wish you long spells of better health in between your treatment in 2021. ?

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Dec-20 19:52:13

Very quiet here tonight? I’ve bought cherry liquor chocolates, they were a gift, but I don’t really like chocolate, so feel free. I hope the Doodles are chuntering along and I’ll get to meet Soop this year.
Perhaps you’re all musing or tired, I’ll pop back later.

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Dec-20 20:04:37

Jaxjacky those are my favourite chocolates! Thank you for bringing them. Daisyboots ? just for you. I drove ds home earlier and all the clutter has gone at one fell swoop. I miss him but I'm glad to have order back. A disappointing dinner. I had bought partridges from M&S but I didn't really like it. Too dry so I expect I over cooked it. The other one is going to make stock as I don't want it. I miss Soop and hope she knows she's missed. Salmon for tea tomorrow. I've had too much rich food and I am longing for ordinary fare. Tomorrow will be a very quiet day. Take care all.

Nannytopsy Sun 27-Dec-20 20:25:52

Poor Soop & McSporran. I do hope they had a good Christmas. We have just finished the Christmas pud! Still quite a bit of cheese to go but we have port to go with it ?

cornergran Sun 27-Dec-20 20:41:14

Evening All. A quiet day in corner-land, all feels a bit flat somehow. I’m contemplating taking down some cards tomorrow and beginning a slow put away of the decorations. Never last until 12th night here but this is early even for me.

Still, family are all well, so are we, old friends are out there somewhere, just can’t see them as none live locally. Tomorrow is another day as they say and I’m sure I’ll have reclaimed some positivity. Well, almost sure. smile.

soop and macs must feel as if they are in exile, hope they are warm, well and Fern continues to visit. They are very much missed here for sure.

Oh Daisyboots, you’ve had a lot to contend with. Hoping for a smoother path for you now.

Never eaten partridge which sounds a good thing grandmabatty. We’re mostly back on ‘normal’ for us food, there’s a lot of sweet things left including a huge box of very yummy biscuits given to us as a gift. With a long date I’m hanging on to them for what I hope will be a celebration for Mr C’s birthday at the end of February. Hope is essential don't you think?

Wondering how galen is now.

Take care everyone. Stay well. TOYA.

Doodle Sun 27-Dec-20 21:26:52

tanith that’s kind of you.
Charleygirl I hope the Queen of Sheba is still enjoying her food,
Grandmafrench DH is indeed on the mend. Back home and getting a bit better every day. Hope you enjoy your walk and have a good day.

Doodle Sun 27-Dec-20 21:44:35

Feeling thank you. It wasn’t so much the tea that was the problem for DH it was the food. He found it too salty and spicy. He is eating better now but at the rate he’s consuming it, this turkey will last till Easter ?
If you manage some photos of the Robin in the snow please share. ?
Nannytopsy many thanks. A new telescope sounds an interesting Christmas present. Do you mainly use it for birdwatching or do you look at the night sky too?
Daisy kind of you to mention us when you have so much going on in your life. I am sorry your treatment has left you feeling so ill. Must be lovely to have your son with you. Hope you get some quality time together.
Puzzler sausage rolls lovely ?. Victoria Wood was always a favourite of mine.
Jaxjacky hard to believe you’ve been on this thread for a while now and still not met the lovely soop. Really hope she’s back with us soon and that MacSporran and Fern are doing their best to keep her spirits up.
corner in my opinion, without hope there is nothing.
These days between Christmas and New Year are a bit odd. It’s partly holiday and partly not. I have put aside lots of things with long eat by dates too so we can finish up what we’ve already got first.
ann is your DGD any better? Hope the weekend has allowed her some rest.
Hope everyone is ok. Take care all
TOYA ?

Evening everybody in soops cosy kitchen tonight.

We enjoyed a glass of champagne & a slice of our youngest daughter’s birthday cake this afternoon. Stood outside under the bay window. Chilly too! Some 40th birthday party - but it’s been a funny old year and as said daughter is so much better after 9 weeks of long Covid I was truly thankful. I gave her a hug & a kiss. Had to. x

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Dec-20 21:58:56

Cornergran I think I overcooked it which is why it was dry. One of my flaws.

Grandmafrench Sun 27-Dec-20 22:03:03

What a brave soldier you are, Daisy. Wishing so hard for you. x ?

Jax - 'I don't really like chocolate'. Seriously? How can you even form those words? I wish that was me because I have had some real struggles in the past but am much more of a controlled chocaholic now. Quantities are only ever consumed when I am super-stressed. (Well that's most of 2020 taken care of, then!) tchwink

It's always nice to reclaim your space isn't it, GrandmaB? Maybe taking back a bit of control (to misquote a Boris-ism) is what's needed, especially if you're feeling a bit uninspired, corner. If positivity doesn't come bustling into your bedroom, ahead of the butler, first thing tomorrow, perhaps putting away some of the decs for this year will be just the thing to make you feel you're in charge of life again. Good Morning Ordinary Monday might make us all feel positive.

Christmas pud and cheese, NannyT - pleased to see that you too can throw caution to the winds! ? I made two puddings and there are only 3 of us. Will I ever see my toes again, will I have to walk faster and longer in order to avoid having to buy new clothes, do I care? No. Here the pud and the cheese have been a highlight of this year's rather limited celebrations. Hope you get to enjoy lots of new scenery through the end of that telescope.

I reckon that as long as soop and Mac are together -anywhere - they'll be just fine. Sad that we haven't been able to share so many Kitchen pages with her, though. Come back to us as soon as the wretched and useless telephone service allows, dear soop. You'll possibly be stuck with Kitchen leftovers but you know we all meant well.

Hope you're safe puzzler - do keep your waders (and a small boat) at hand just in case you and Ruby need transport. Wonder what it is with Christmas storms and floods now - they are becoming almost an annual event.

Sleep well all, especially the Doodles, Susan and Mr Bruised&Battered; Cherry, Charley and That Gourmet Cat, Ann, Feelingmyage, and any dear Kitchener I've forgotten. Sweet dreams of happier times. Hugs from France.

Grandmafrench Sun 27-Dec-20 22:04:47

Good for you, Urms. Bet she loved her unique celebrations! Sleep well. x

annsixty Sun 27-Dec-20 22:07:04

Greetings to all on this very odd Christmas season.
I missed my H far more than last year, the first without him.
I think the situation we-all find-ourselves in in is so unique.

I send sincere good wishes to you all. I cannot tell you all my fears, too deep.

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Dec-20 22:13:29

I just picked up some cheery news on a local Facebook page, Asda was giving away broccoli, sprouts and carrots today in our nearby town, free...how admirable, rather than chucking it out, quite cheered me.
Grandmafrench nope, don’t like it, about half a dozen times a year I’ll eat something sweet, today I had about 2 dessert spoons of Christmas pud with the same of ice cream, minimal sweet tooth, I quite like soft fruits and melon,

Charleygirl5 Mon 28-Dec-20 08:55:01

I posted here yesterday but where it went I have no idea.
I spent some time cleaning my staircase as Tara was very sick- a side effect of the drug. She managed 3 small sachets of food but every time I moved she thought I was going to prepare another meal for her- amazingly that did not happen and I can assure you she did not starve.

This is day 3 and she is superglued to me-cold weather does not usually bother her but maybe the heat of the house is a better option.

It is -2C here so until the car clears itself of hard frost if it ever does melt, I am staying indoors. Another day I am pleased to be retired.
TOYA

Puzzler61 Mon 28-Dec-20 12:51:30

Hello Kitcheners. I expect some are still finishing off Christmas goodies and bottles of champers (*Urmston*).
Bubbly is a great way to celebrate special Birthdays, indoors or out.

Charleygirl methinks the internet is playing tricks lately. Not just poor soop who must be counting the days until she is “back on”.

Grandmafrench We seem to have a whole shelf of cheeses, realised how our tastes change as I prefer it to all the sweet treats, especially after a good meal or as a snack meal.
I used to forego a meal for a bar of Chocolate!

Poor Tara, she must have a sore tummy. I hope she sleeps it off today. We all know how healing sleep is and cats know how to do it well.

We’ve had 3-4 inches of snow since 5 a.m. but it is melting now. DH has done shovelling duty on the drive and path - but we’re not going anywhere today. It’s bound to freeze tonight.

Wishing a better day for all Grans who have felt sad, worried about family, or with loved ones in hospital.
This all will pass and we will see better times. We have to look forward. ?TOYA

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 13:30:42

Oh annsixty I’m not surprised really you’ve missed your husband more this year. You have had a really tough year and this without the comforting presence of your dearest man.
?

Urmstongran Mon 28-Dec-20 13:33:49

Perhaps those deep fears of yours are not to be broadcast on a public forum annsixty no matter how friendly and supportive? Perhaps a p.m. to one or two of us on here would help lighten the load. A trouble shared and all that.

I hope you could consider reaching out to someone on here in confidence?

I’m sending you a hug anyway. x

GrannyGravy13 Mon 28-Dec-20 13:56:54

Sorry to learn you are having worried Annsixty flowers

Puzzler61 Mon 28-Dec-20 17:20:34

Annsixty it’s no time at all and you will still miss your man.
? for you.

Nannytopsy Mon 28-Dec-20 18:30:08

? for you Ann. Be kind to yourself my dear.
The telescope was intended for birdwatching but the moon last night was amazing! We could see the craters in detail, just like the photos you see!
Turkey and ham pie tonight - I wonder how many more homes have that on the menu tonight?
Keep warm and safe? X
