Lins having seen DH moving I can only imagine what pain you were in with your spine fractures.
I think it is particularly hard for those with young grandchildren not to see them at Christmas and watching the present unwrapping. Hope you can face time or zoom your family. Not the same I know.

Just popped in to say hello and see that the dear soop is still missing. I tear my hair out when the internet is down so feel her pain.

It is lovely you can visit your DH Doodle I do hope they are managing the pain and he can come home soon. I bet he is sick of the sight of the inside of a hospital. Maybe we should set up the side ward for poorly husbands again.

Lins it is hard isn't it. We haven't hugged our DGC since January and won't be seeing them at Christmas. They are all upset they can't come up but it is what it is. My DD and SiL are coming up for the 5 days but have taken a Covid test and are self isolating til they come. They do not have children so it is easier for them.

Welcome Brooke this is a lovely cosy place to be. I used to come here and lick my wounds when it was necessary and always got a lovely welcome.

I do hope soop is back when I get time to pop in again.

Hello kitcheners, I know how you feel Lins I have just had the conversation with AC regarding garden visits and gift swapping, it’s all so upsetting. AS will not be bringing his little ones into the garden as they are at nursery and are getting confused with not being able to have family cuddles ?

LauraNorder, cakes seem to be pretty elastic here. And there's always a new one arriving. I'm glad of the zero calories because I have lost 4lbs during the second lockdown and hope to make that 6lbs by Christmas. I am planning to undertake Veganuary next month to see if I can manage that. DS2 has been a vegan for a year and is quite sanctimonious about it.
I hope your DH gets home, Doodle. In my limited experience it was an effort to breathe.
What a muddle this tier business is. DS1 in Berkshire has gone up to tier 3 and commutes to work in West London, but his daughter is at 6th form in Hampshire which is still tier 2. DS2 and partner are in Oxfordshire which remains in tier 2, but she works in Reading which is tier 3. My home town is in tier 2, a matter of a very few miles from Stockport in Greater Manchester, which is perpetually in tier 3. I can predict that many residents close to the Cheshire border will make the short journey to take advantage of the pubs and restaurants still allowed to serve food and drink.

You are so right about that anno and I am one of the guilty ones there.
I went to P.....e not far from you about 10 days ago and felt very safe and I felt I obeyed all the rules as well.

LauraNorder you are more than welcome here. soop who would also welcome you is having mega computer problems and BT hopes to get the problem fixed tomorrow. They have not managed during the last 12 months so what will be magical about tomorrow I do not know but I will happily stand corrected.

Well, the testing kit has arrived.
It took me 30mins to sort out all the codes etc to fill in the online form.
I’m doing the test tomorrow as I’ll then have someone to take it to the post.
I’m feeling much better and aim to get up tomorrow.
I can sympathise with Tara.

A sad house tonight - DD has been “trying”for a couple of years but now is in hospital with an ectopic pregnancy. So sad that we can’t rush to them but if she is like me, better not to.

So here in Trafford we stay in Tier 3 as we are part of Greater Manchester (along with Bury, Oldham, Tameside, Rochdale and half a dozen more council areas). I did think we might go down a Tier. Hey ho. It’s probably for the best but my goodness, local businesses are suffering greatly.

Thanks for asking about DH. He had a bad night last night but was mush better when I saw him this afternoon. Pain under control and he was more awake.
I’m not allowed to visit again till Sunday but I’m hoping he might be home by then.
So sorry for all those who won’t be able to see their DGC and families at Christmas. We will pop round to throw presents at each other but will not be eating together.
