What are you hoping for from Santa?

Hello Everyone tchsmile
I'm shamelessly asking for last minute present inspiration for both myself and DH.

I know that he really wants to exchange gifts this year (even though I choose them myself.)
I only shop online, which is just as well...

I had my eye on a Swarovski bracelet but it's now it's out of stock (I have a feeling that they do this with sale items at this time of year.)

So, what are you hoping for in your stocking?
(Obviously, a vaccine and smooth Brexit go without saying!)

Thank you all tchsmileflowers

All I really want is a a special gran hug from my wee granddaughter , Fanny, anything else is immaterial. However, that won't be happening any time soon.

I know my DH and family will be over generous as usual, but nothing will make up for not having my family here.
I did ask, if anyone was listening, for headphones which don't hurt my ears.

For the first time ever in my nearly 65 years, there will be nothing in my stocking.

This year we agreed with our adult children that we will do something that will make a difference to others less fortunate than us and so have donated as a family to a local homeless charity. There but for the grace of God and a loving family go any one of us. Using gift aid, we were able to donate a total of £750. I am humbled and so very proud that they all wanted to be a part of this. I have still had the joy of giving presents to my grandchildren and look forward to their carefully chosen (and usually hilarious) presents even more. tchsmile

GrannyLaine, thanks for the reminder. DH still hasn't done our Mary's Meals donation, which will be doubled by the Govt, I believe.

I would love to see and cuddle my DGDs, but I know that's not going to happen.

I would love some books, something with Chanel on it, anything really. I don't mind.

When this is all over I am going to treat myself to a new watch; the Omega my late DH bought for me on our first Christmas together in 1969 has just died, not bad for 51 years! So I am spending some of the kids' inheritance on a new one. DH would have approved.

Oooh dear, thought for a moment Marydoll that your wee granddaughter was called Fanny. Poor little (not Scottish) thing I thought. Then I realised.
No offence intended FC.
In answer to the question at last, a new pair of jogging bottoms please. Been wearing the old pairs for the last nine months.

Our family exchange Christmas gifts but I’ve also arranged a gift for myself this week.
I’ve sponsored a donkey at a Sanctuary in Cornwall, which I hope to visit next summer (we always stay a week in Cornwall).

How To Be A Complete and Utter Blunt

This book is all I want for Christmas

Marydoll Mon 21-Dec-20 09:41:53

Alima, ever the pedant, I put a comma before Fanny's name, so that it would indicate I was addressing her! No offence taken, but be aware, my middle name is Frances (aka Fanny)!!!! grin

A Covid free Christmas, my GD who lives with me is having a test at 11am as she has a dreadful cough.

YorkLady Mon 21-Dec-20 09:47:24

Big hug from my daughter, not had one since March!
You can keep everything else.
Merry Christmas and good wishes to you all ?

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Dec-20 09:58:48

thanksto all of you missing your families, especially your Grandchildren. It must be heartbreaking for you. I spent so much of my childhood with my Nan and Grandad. I can't imagine how my Nan would have coped in these circumstances.
She's in a care home at the moment, and not a happy bunny.
GrannieLaine what a fabulous donation. Homeless charities are so very worthwhile. Well done to your clan.
Alima no offense taken! I'm becoming extremely attached to the name Fanny. I heard on the radio early this morning that a lady called Dame Fanny Waterman died recently. I'd not heard of her; she was a pianist and teacher from Leeds.
Puzzler a donkey is an excellent shout!
Blue Sapphire I inherited my mom's Omega which was her 21st birthday present, it too is over 50 years old and still going strong. Unfortunately she had it put on a gold bracelet strap and it is too small for me. She must have had tiny wrists as mine are small.
Lucretzia I will have to have a look at that!
So far, I'm thinking of a sweater dress and earrings from next.

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Dec-20 10:02:10

annsixty all good wishes to you and GD. Such a worrying time.
Yorklady thank you, you too! Do you live in York itself? I lived there for two years in the early 90s. It was my childhood dream to live there.

Puzzler61 Mon 21-Dec-20 10:03:01

Sorry about your bracelet going out of stock Fanny .
If you have seen a sweater dress and earrings at Next, I would order them quick as they may go into sale and you’ll lose that too. Good Luck!

harrigran Mon 21-Dec-20 10:06:00

I am expecting nothing at all and that is exactly what I will get, the same as last Christmas and the one before.

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Dec-20 10:06:26

Yes, I think that I will, Puzzler.
It really is the little things that one has to focus on at the moment.
If you started to think about the bigger picture, you'd go around the flipping bend!

MawBe Mon 21-Dec-20 10:06:26

I might have said World peace, but I imagine that’s gone.
I like cashmere but have already bought myself a cashmere jumper so Santa is unlikely to bring me another! But if you are looking at web sites, Turtle Doves in Shrewsbury are probably my favourite
I feel it sounds feeble but unless there’s an electric MINI on the sleigh, there’s nothing I really want .
But for you, how about buying each other a short break away when a) he is better b) you are allowed to travel? You could put travel brochures, printouts from holiday websites etc in his stocking.

Azalea99 Mon 21-Dec-20 10:08:30

Heated socks for when I’m gardening! I wear hats, jumpers, and ski pants under my jeans when gardening in winter, but my feet turn to ice

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Dec-20 10:08:41

Ah, Harrigran you should always treat yourself to something flowers

Esspee Mon 21-Dec-20 10:10:53

I am hoping that my OH does exactly what he has been told and buys me precisely nothing. I don’t need more stuff and I don’t need the embarrassment of the Christmas before last where he agreed to buying nothing and presented me with a trip for us to Cambodia and Thailand flying business class. I can’t remember what happened last Christmas so he must have got the message.

Jules48 Mon 21-Dec-20 10:14:34

I know you said ‘last minute’, but this really is taking it to the wire for online! I doubt you’d get much delivered, unless you paid very high late delivery p and p. Perhaps it’s just a thread to get people chatting wink

GreyKnitter Mon 21-Dec-20 10:25:31

DH and I decided not to buy each other presents as there is really nothing we especially need or want - but we have bought two books to share - not to be read until Christmas. Hopefully Richard Osman and Barack Obama won’t let us down! Ps. I’d like our cats to sleep beyond 6.30 in the morning when they cry outside out bedroom door. Now that would be a great Christmas gift. ????

You can still get deliveries from Amazon and Next etc. In fact most online retailers that I shop with.
I do like an excuse to chat, but it is a genuine predicament.
I've not really given Christmas that much thought this year yet, but DH has said that he wants to get me something.

helen2020 Mon 21-Dec-20 10:33:14

BlueSapphire if you have an Omega watch I'm sure it can be repaired and Fanny a new bracket would be a good idea for your precious heirloom. I have bought some Tanzanite earings to go with a my ring, and one of Boots star buys, a Ted Baker tub of lovely things. I always treat myself as DH hasn't got a clue!

annodomini Mon 21-Dec-20 10:34:12

I would love a copy of Barrack Obama's book, 'A Promised Land'. If it was a signed copy that would be the icing on the Christmas cake.
Don't suppose any of my family would be reading this!
