Someone asked is this 'what we are reduced too' referring to another person's post. I guess we are running out of things to discuss as none of us are going anywhere, all our social activities are no longer available so can't discuss the pros and cons of those, and we are relying on the news, family issues and the more mundane areas of life to put up posts. What do you think?? this is not a critisim just an observation. smile

farview Tue 22-Dec-20 20:12:00

Haha aren't I just ...cheers ?...?

LauraNorder Tue 22-Dec-20 20:16:51

Farview if we’re moving on to dunking, it’s ginger biscuits in tea for me

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 20:18:06

I used to put flaked almonds and glacé cherries on the trifle

LauraNorder Tue 22-Dec-20 20:48:30

Ooh glacé cherries, haven’t had them for yonks.

farview Tue 22-Dec-20 20:59:00

LauraNorder..a close second ?...love this sort of nutty nonsense thread...still hate trifle...changing subject..I always,in the evening..sit watching t.v in a 'lotus position '...true...

LauraNorder Tue 22-Dec-20 21:01:19

Personally I sit in the slobus position but do very much respect your ability.
I’m impressed

farview Tue 22-Dec-20 21:24:53

LauraNorder...???

SueDonim Tue 22-Dec-20 22:17:35

Sprinkles on trifle are mandatory. It’s a very obscure law that they must be there.

My DD’s don’t like trifle but they like all the components separately. confused

I hate it when threads or comments get deleted and I never know what they were about in the first place!

Marmight Tue 22-Dec-20 22:33:58

I’ve recently discovered Negroni. You should try it. Oblivion guaranteed after the 3rd. Very welcome in these Covid times ?hic.
I spit out cherries unless they’ve come straight from a tree. I don’t think I’ve eaten trifle this century. Must give it a go - sans sprinkles
Elliane’s idea for fish in a sea of blue jelly is a great idea. Can you get blue jelly?

Ellianne Tue 22-Dec-20 22:39:18

I've never seen blue jelly. Might have to experiment with gelatine and blue food colouring?

annsixty Tue 22-Dec-20 22:56:27

Hate negroni, sorry, we went on holiday to Spain in 1972 with friends and the first night our male friend (very forceful) said we must all have a Campari, he ended up drinking all four and although I don’t like sweet drinks could never take to that.

SueDonim Tue 22-Dec-20 23:03:08

I remember, back in the day, making traffic light jellies for my children. You had to wait an age for each colour (strawberry/orange/lime) to set before adding the next layer.

Did I really have nothing better to do? And exactly what nutritional value is there in a jelly? grin

PS I remember the jelly with evap milk. You whisked the milk first and added it to setting jelly, if I recall correctly.

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 23:16:07

I don't like aniseed so any drink flavoured with that is out!

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 09:56:17

Yuk to aniseed flavoured drinks but did love to suck aniseed balls.
Did use up precious life moments making traffic light jellies.
Use blackcurrant jelly Ellianne tell them it’s dark down there in the depths of the ocean.

trisher Wed 23-Dec-20 11:21:33

Years ago you used to be able to buy a Black forest TrifleMix -came complete with little bag of sprinkles. Anyone remember it?

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 11:23:48

I don’t remember that one Trisher, but I used to love Angel Delight.

Oh I loved that and so did my kids when they were little. I tried it again a bit ago, it tasted like soap and chemicals

trisher Wed 23-Dec-20 11:49:05

PS I remember the jelly with evap milk. You whisked the milk first and added it to setting jelly, if I recall correctly.
And you could pretend it had nutritional value because it had milk in it!!!

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 11:54:19

Oh dear, that's for the bin then!

SueDonim Wed 23-Dec-20 11:59:12

I recall Bird’s Trifle in a box. I think it had a pack that you added water to and it made Dream Topping. Or have I got two different things confused?

SueDonim Wed 23-Dec-20 12:01:05

Good for their bones! And all that sugar would make their hair curl!

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 12:03:09

That's the trouble these days, they've taken out out all the nice tasty (bad!) ingredients!

Puzzler61 Wed 23-Dec-20 12:03:53

Our school served Milk Jelly which was jelly and evap milk, but not whisked. It just set with a wobble.
It was my favourite and we got it with a square of sticky Rice Krispie cake.
