are we running out of things to discuss........

Someone asked is this 'what we are reduced too' referring to another person's post. I guess we are running out of things to discuss as none of us are going anywhere, all our social activities are no longer available so can't discuss the pros and cons of those, and we are relying on the news, family issues and the more mundane areas of life to put up posts. What do you think?? this is not a critisim just an observation. smile

Did we really feed our children Angel Delight?
It’s amazing they survived isn’t it?
Young mothers today would recoil in horror at all the E numbers it must have contained!

SueDonim Wed 23-Dec-20 12:08:54

We still buy the occasional Angel Delight. blush We make it healthier by adding a sliced banana. grin

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 12:11:05

And yet chicken nuggets seem popular JenniferEccles so they’re not all perfect

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 12:12:36

Sliced banana with strawberry angel delight, two of their five a day

Goes to prove not all of us want deep, meaningful, discussions - sometimes we want just companiable, gentle chit chat. ?

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 12:37:15

Jelly discussions are very meaningful Puzzler61 grin

Oh yes chicken nuggets appear to have survived Jamie Oliver’s efforts to get them banned !

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 12:45:16

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich anyone?
Bon appétit!

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 12:48:18

Peanut butter and strawberry jam. Marmite and maple syrup, delicious.

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 12:50:26

Yes indeed Puzzler companiable, gentle chit chat. Can’t beat it.

SueDonim Wed 23-Dec-20 13:02:21

I shall put my healthy eating halo on, Lauranorder. ?

There’s nothing wrong with chit chat. I don’t spend all my time with friends in earnest conversation, we often have chats about silly things that make us laugh.

Ellianne Wed 23-Dec-20 13:09:36

If laughter be the food (or drink) of companionship, then discuss on!

I have one Christmas cake with royal icing , as it’s my preference. And one for DH and SIL with Australian soft icing as they like it.
Does anyone else still royal ice their Christmas cakes?

Iam64 Wed 23-Dec-20 13:37:03

I'm icing this afternoon Puzzler61. I gave up on soft icing after making a real mess of a birthday cake in 1974.
I always royal ice the Christmas cake but am gearing up to having a go this afternoon

Re Angel Delight etc
On another thread (the blancmange one) a poster mentioned a pudding (she said that it was tinned) that was similar, but 'glossier'.
I have a vague memory of something like this, and it's been driving me mad! Like the memory version of being in the tip of my tongue.
The pudding I recall was indeed very glossy, and it was a milky coffee colour. I don't remember it being in a tin though.
Anyone else? tchconfused

Good Luck Iam64. I’m sure it will turn out well.
Mine is kitsch, rough snow icing with a lustre powder on top and plastic decorations: child on a sledge, Christmas tree, and a “Merry Christmas” in gold plastic. Thin red ribbon round edge.

FannyCornforth Wed 23-Dec-20 13:56:11

It was Lexisgranny who mentioned the 'glossy' desert.

My tipple was Baby Cham. Happy days.

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 15:37:39

LauraNorder Wed 23-Dec-20 15:38:32

Blossoming Wed 23-Dec-20 16:00:59
