Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but and looking a cold day out there this morning , here in Brackley .
With restrictions facing me in the last week of 2020 , it will be an interesting ending to as well.
Anyway , as to the good morning , I have changed it slightly over next few days , by putting the actually day of the week first ,and then in brackets the respective day as you see.
I will have quiet day today ,and maybe get a Chinese takeaway curry later .
Take Care ,
Mick

It's actually properly cold here in south Cornwall this morning, yippee. I love winter.

Stilllearning my heart goes out to you, I had a little weep.

Nortsat chicken wings, yuk yuk!

Today I'm meeting a dear friend for coffee and then off to my son's nearby where I'll be till the 27th. Just him and me tomorrow but we're very close and will have a laugh.

Christmas starts for me with Carols from Kings this evening. Sublime.

Like the heading of the thread Mick. See you all tomorrow!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bright, clear South Yorkshire day, but cold. Can’t believe how much rain we had yesterday - biblical! I am having my usual “start the day with a huge sneezing fit” thing going on. Have to get that out of the way before I start making the sausage rolls?! The children of our next door neighbours brought us round some gingerbread biscuits they’d made yesterday. They’d iced our names on them (at least I think that’s what it said!!). We were very touched. I will deliver a little something for their stockings later.
Urms I’m glad your ear is feeling better. Let’s hope it stays that way!
Dwmxwg that’s lovely. That book is always on my bedside table for its sage wisdom and beautiful illustrations.
I love Christmas Eve; nine lessons and carols, and T.S. Eliot’s “Journey of the Magi”, which I always read on this one day. Have the best day you can folks and stay safe.

Good morning Mick and everybody from chilly but bright South Gloucestershire.

This is my first post on this thread, but I thought Christmas Eve in such a momentous year might be a good time to start. tchsmile

I'm in Tier 3 but shielding, so Christmas Day will be a brief socially-distanced garden visit from my son and daughter and 2 grandchildren to exchange presents (oldest granddaughter is stranded in Qatar and not allowed to fly home), and we will sit outside in the cold for as long as we can tolerate it. They will be bringing their own blankets and hot drinks! tchgrin

Once they have all got back to their own houses and eaten their Christmas lunches, we'll have a family Zoom and link up to Qatar. Thank heavens for technology.

Love all the photos. Thank you everybody for all your posts during this difficult year. Wishing you all a happy lovely day. flowers

Marydoll Thu 24-Dec-20 08:46:43

Greyduster, T S Elliot is my favourite poet and Journey of the Magi, my favourite poem. I still have my T S Elliot poetry anthology from school.
You have triggered some memories!

Good morning from sunny West Berkshire .

I’m hoping that my son will get up into the loft today and put up our tree ? and decorations! We are always quite late doing it but this year is taking the biscuit.

Wish you all a peaceful time and healthy New Year .

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning all from Essex. I thought I could hear an owl hooting in the night but it must have been the wind howling through my window frames. ?

We had a lovely family Zoom party for DB’s 80th. Great to see everyone and it really felt like we were altogether . Quiz, flute recital and guitar rendition of Happy Birthday by his 2 GC. Lovely.

I forgot to get the gammon out of the freezer but it doesn’t matter - we’ll have it Boxing Day. No problems this year, no pressure!

Not much to do today, just delivering doorstep gifts and singing a carol in front gardens. We’ll see the GC from a distance and watch the excitement in their faces. ?.

I love that book Dwm with such lovely messages within. Thanks for that quote, I’ll send it to the family. ?

Welcome to all newcomers . Always welcome here. ?

Get well wishes to all who are poorly

I would like to jingle my bells at 6 tonight on the doorstep but will we be the only ones? ?.

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Overslept so late to the party.

Welcome to all the lovely newcomers and good to hear you are feeling better Urmston.

Our dinner time Zoom went well last night. It will be Zoom after dinner tonight with DD to play games. First we will go for a walk and I really must tidy the house!

Have a good Christmas Eve everyone and stay safe.

Hello and good morning everyone from DD's in East Northants. Thank goodness the rain has stopped, and it is a bright chilly morning.

We safely got the cats into the cattery yesterday on the way over here. They were a pickle to get into the carriers, thank goodness I had DS-in-law to help. They kept glaring at me all day yesterday and running away every time they saw me, as I had had the temerity to give them their flea and worming treatment the day before, a necessary precaution before the cattery.

DS appeared under an umbrella yesterday morning to collect their presents and the Christmas goodies. He is now out of self-isolation and no sign of Covid. He and family are popping over here this morning to exchange presents and pick up the chocolate log DD will be making some time today. We shall have a socially distanced meeting at the front door.

No other plans for today, play it by ear.

A happy Christmas Eve to all and please stay safe.

Good morning Mick and all gn friends this Christmas Eve morning.
Woken by heavy rain battering the bedroom window, unusually from the the northwest so not sure if Pantglas will escape it. All quiet on Anglesey, truck drivers got through. Hope as many as possible get home for Christmas from Dover and that town can have a peaceful Christmas too.
We had decided on chips and egg for Christmas dinner but now will have that this evening and have a nice piece of beef for our meal tomorrow.
Seems strange to not be running around like a headless chicken but it’s quite nice too.
Stillearning flowers
Hope MrDoodle is on the mend.
Hope Grandmafrench comes on today to say she’s okay.
Warm wishes to all who are feeling unwell or feeling low in spirits and to all the rest too.

BlueSapphire Thu 24-Dec-20 09:08:16

Marydoll, -The Journey of the Magi- is my favourite poem as well. We have very good taste! Had never come across it till an English lecture at college. Have loved it ever since.

Gelisajams Thu 24-Dec-20 09:13:45

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where the wet weather has turned seasonal and covered everything in frost beneath a pinkish sky. I shall wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and send you all some flowers as I don’t think I will get chance to post tomorrow as we are going to leave home at silly o’clock to spend the day with my friend. Now we can’t stay overnight we will have a longer day. I’m hoping the roads will be ok as I think it will be busier than usual.
A warm welcome to our new posters. Hopefully Gilly may think it’s a good time to start posting again. I do hope things have improved for her.
I have greengrocer envy Ashcombe other than the supermarkets, there isn’t an actual greengrocer here for miles.
Take care everyone, have the best Christmas you can, but above all stay safe.?

Grandmabatty Thu 24-Dec-20 09:16:53

'A cold time we had of it,
And just the worst time of year for a journey,'
My favourite T. S. Eliot poem. I used to teach it to fifteen year old. So full of hope and despair and longing. Thank you for reminding me.

Espee has posted this song on another thread. I know she won't mind me sharing it. I have tears running down my face! blush

Thank you, Greyduster, for the mention of T.S. Eliot’s “The Coming of the Magi”. It brought back memories of getting a small group of Year 5/6 children in a village school to do it for the carol service which they did beautifully, much to the surprise of the head and other staff.

Like so many of you I am at something of a loose end with no last minute preparations since it’s only the two of us. I do feel really odd, having “done” Christmas so the majority of the last sixty years. But this year there has been no run up - no shopping trips, not much preparatory baking, no choir rehearsals, no parties or lunches out - so I do feel a bit flat.

Hope we all have the best day we can, and envious good wishes to those seeing family members, however briefly. We have Zoom meetings tomorrow which will have to do.

Grandmafrench Thu 24-Dec-20 09:27:52

Good Morning, I’m here Laura and I’m fine but very emotional.

???????? We have our Christmas miracle !
Our Son is here and is spending Christmas with us. I never imagined such happiness after 9 long months of separation.?????.

9 long months when people on this thread have been just wonderful, too lovely to thank properly for all the fun and support, kindness and interest and laughter. We’ve shared so much, haven’t we. You’re all ?⭐️✨

Well done Mick for so many Good Mornings! People power on a lovely thread. My heart is filled with love and good wishes to all of you.

Good morning all
I hope this message finds you all in good spirit
This is my first morning message
Well, the sun is shining here at Tower Bridge.
Little chilly, but i don't mind that.
Although i've woken up on my own, I tell myself, it will pass and all will be ok with the world soon.

After breakfast, i shall pack my presents up and over night bag, as i'm off to my daughters bubble tomorrow.
Enjoy your Christmas Eve and Day

Eve

Jaxjacky Thu 24-Dec-20 09:42:54

Happy Christmas Eve from north Kent where it is bright and breezy but chilly.

Welcome to all the newbies and ? for Stillearning. Glad you feeling better Urms and also hoping that all is well with GrandmaFrench

Driveway visit planned for later from DD and family. She’s instructed us to have mulled wine and mince pies at the ready to keep the cold out.

Realised that it is the first time in 45 years that DH and I will be on our own for Christmas; start of new traditions. Will get the dining table looking festive later today.

I hope you all have the best Christmas Eve that you can and that worries and illnesses are a little better today. Stay safe

GrannyOwl5 Thu 24-Dec-20 09:46:21

Good morning all, from a sunny but cold West Yorkshire. (Perfect golfing weather which I shall be doing later!).
