Carbohydrate that is.
If you could only eat one carb (you are allowed other food groups) which would it be?

Pasta, Potatoes, Rice or Bread?

I'd choose potatoes. I think I could live on potatoes and cheese.

Oooh it has to be potatoes. What I can't do with a spud isn't worth knowing grin

Bred. Artisan for preference, sourdough . Since I eat low carb it is usually a slice of Lidl low

Low GI Sorry

Definitely potatoes!

Bread.. Can’t beat a slice of toast and butter. Perfect comfort food.

Hmm. Difficult one. I didn't miss bread, potatoes and pasta when I lived in Thailand and rice came with everything as is or in noodles (rice is life there!), but I don't miss rice now that I'm not eating it three times a day.

My macaroni cheese is to die for. My Camembert potatoes are to die for. My potato and other roasted carby root vegetables are to die for. And my homemade bread is so good you can eat it by itself without even butter.

So this is my choice: I'll keep eating any and all of them in moderation.

I was going to say pasta with lovely creamy sauces but then Nortsat mentioned baked potatoes with butter and black pepper, then chips, wedges, mashed. Bluebell said crisps and that clinched it, definitely potatoes.
Then Grannynannywanny mentioned soup with chunks of crusty bread.
So maybe I could leave out rice but that wasn’t the question, oh heck I can’t choose.

I don't eat potatoes, rice or pasta much at all, so it would have to be bread for me.

Kim19 Sat 02-Jan-21 10:38:44

Potatoes every time for me. No contest.

Coeliac so easy to cut out bread and pasta. And actually don't like potato - something to do with the texture, hard egg yolks do it too. So I'd keep rice. But I don't eat a lot of carbs anyway, far too fattening and better for my type two tendencies, and partner's type one requirements, to just stay away.

Potato girl here! Love bread but I bloat up then feel like a beached whale when I eat it so I avoid it - mostly! ?

Skweek1 Sat 02-Jan-21 10:46:14

Type 1 diabetic who controls with carb counting, so would find it hard to choose between bread and potatoes - love both and both give so much variety. Honestly not a great pasta lover and apart from rice pudding- make it with dried fruit and cinnamon!- yum - could live without rice

WoodLane7 Sat 02-Jan-21 10:47:12

I think I would probably go potatoes, although I would miss my bacon sarnies!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 02-Jan-21 10:51:11

I love potatoes, especially if they are mashed with butter and salt but bread is so instant, just butter it and there you are. On balance I'd find it hard to choose between the two.

I’ve got bread and butter pudding soaking at the moment ! Using up Pannetone !

Phloembundle Sat 02-Jan-21 10:58:38

Ciabatta!

Redhead56 Sat 02-Jan-21 11:02:17

Rice I like savoury rices from around the world and sweet old fashioned puddings. I like bread but it gives me indigestion not a lover of potatoes pasta is ok.

Nanna58 Sat 02-Jan-21 11:02:32

Pasta all the way! Sophia Loren once said “ all that I am I owe to pasta” ?

Coffeebix Sat 02-Jan-21 11:05:47

BREAD

Marilla Sat 02-Jan-21 11:08:36

Bread. I love it!

merlotgran Sat 02-Jan-21 11:08:39

Potatoes and rice for me. I am coeliac but eat as little gf bread as possible even though I make my own. Gf pasta is OK but all gf products are ridiculously expensive.

Moggycuddler Sat 02-Jan-21 11:17:24

Hard choice, because we eat a lot of all those things. But if I had to choose, then potatoes. Couldn't manage without chips and mash.

Bridie22 Sat 02-Jan-21 11:19:23

Definitely bread.

Bazza Sat 02-Jan-21 11:27:38

Spuds for me, bread a close second.

downtoearth Sat 02-Jan-21 11:40:37

Havent eaten bread for about 20 years due to bloating,I love bread,it dosent love me.

My diet isn't carb heavy occasionally potato or rice/ pasta.

But as other say potato is versatile,so the humble spud gets my vote, and I do love crisps.
