Virtual plane trip for Club Gransnet - where to?!

When I first joined, there was a thread suggesting interested parties hire a plane to visit lived ones in NZ/OZ.
Please can we charter another?
I am only now missing my son and his little family in Brisbane. I know he would be pleased to meet you all if you'd like a stopover (?), as much as I would love to see more of these countries- and, maybe, GNetters too.
Any joiners? Where shall we call?
As for creature comforts, I should like, please, proper beds and a shower and the sheer joy of the Argy Bargy staff to organise the drinks and eats (ensuring that we do get to our destination in corpore sano )

Can we have a stopover in Aruba. We could land on Eagle Beach, have a Barbie!! sleep the night on the beach and take off next morning. Absolutely beautiful place and people. Talcum powder beaches, fabulous sunsets and gorgeous food. No hotel charges to pay. Would love to go back there one day. X

Callistemon Sun 10-Jan-21 20:20:17

We're not landing - I hope you realise it will be a parachute, a shove and mind the luggage on your way down!

ixion Sun 10-Jan-21 20:24:33

Sorry, we are only chartering first class, with a tiny curtained off section at the tail end for maids, cooks, general hoi poloi.
I wouldn't advertise pangolin pie, Laura, in the current climate. We may have fellow travellers with - er - sensitivities in that area?
Chewbacca Are you advertising your arrival with that hat to our Oz regular??

Callistemon Sun 10-Jan-21 20:36:32

Chewbacca we'll have to go and check him out.
He's an Ocker, if I dare say so.

Has anyone heard from him lately btw?

I'm happy with First, in the absence of my own private jet.

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 20:40:52

Oh chucks Ixion that’s got me out of cooking duties. Cunning plan that worked for once.

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 20:43:26

Calli if you mean who I think you mean our cheerful Ocker was on Maws ‘reason to be cheerful’ thread.

Lucca

Lauranorder I’d hate to spend anytime in Dubai!! My idea of of a horrible holiday (should I hide now ?)

I'm also not attracted to Dubai so maybe we could hang out in Italy a while longer... though I'm also happy to pop over to Gozo for a while.

LauraNorder Sun 10-Jan-21 20:53:40

Already retracted notspaghetti, was just curious to see the Burj Al Arab as the interior ott decor looks pretty amazing. More than happy to strike it from the itinerary.

Oh, I'll take a look, thanks LauraNorder

A relentlessly cheerful Ocker!

Coo..ey, Rufus
We're on our way.
Put another snag on the barbie!
(Have I got that right?)

Nanna58 Sun 10-Jan-21 21:02:23

Can I get off at Namibia please, of all the countries I’ve visited I think I loved that the most !

ixion Sun 10-Jan-21 21:10:43

Of course, Nanna58!
Would love to hear more.

NotSpaghetti Mon 11-Jan-21 01:15:31

Thanks LauraNorder... how very obliging!

Surely Europe is out at the moment as it’s Winter? Madrid has had heavy snowfalls.

I still think the Caribbean is the place to go this time of year.
We may get our pictures in newspapers, frolicking in the sea!
We may even be mistaken for footballers’ wives!

Calliistemon. No, you don't dare say so!
The term doesn't befit your cultural attache to Victoria who's not a "roughie" and doesn't speak Strine.

Chewbacca
Looks like the strain of being locked down is beginning to show; you appear to have chewed about 5 of your corks. tchhmm
Don't rely on replacing them here as we have gone up-matket, using screw-tops, at least on the wine bottles in my price range!
If you do replace the corks please bring the rest of the bottle and contents but don't bring that head-piece, otherwise Customs will have to take it out the back and have it shot!
Yes1 we still have a few flies left! tchgrin
OoRoo

Come on, Rufus, I remember that photo of yourself you posted online in your vest and thongs, ronnie in your hand!
Now you're trying to tell us you're all cultured like Sir Les Patterson, Cultural Attaché

Can you cope with a plane load of us?

Callistemon Mon 11-Jan-21 12:52:00

ronnie?? Who's ronnie?
Tinnie!!

PamelaJ1 Mon 11-Jan-21 13:28:46

callistemon
Do you mean stubby?
My DD has a tinny. She and her husband use it to fish from?
Up the river.

AGAA4 Mon 11-Jan-21 15:16:17

I won't be stopping off in Oz if Les Patterson is there. Not unless he has washed the stains off his tie.

Callistemon Mon 11-Jan-21 15:21:50

DD and SIL have a tinny too, Pamela

A tinny is a can of beer as well as a boat, I think
A stubby is a bottle of beer (I think)
But I don't like beer so I could be wrong

wine

I love Sicily. May we drop off for some of those gorgeous blood oranges, please?

Callistemon
So tricky these foreign languages!

Callistemon Mon 11-Jan-21 15:46:04

It does take a long time to get to grips with the vernacular, Pamela!
