Hello Everyone
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats

Have Night Owls turned into Skylarks?

Callistemon Thank you - I do actually sleep, but at odd times due to chronic pain. I started this thread rather selfishly for company!
I'm actually quite happy with my routine.
Also, I'm a bit hard core when it comes to sleep inducements, it takes more than a few cups of chamomile!
FannyC, I was probably being over-helpful Granny; I really need my sleep but I know my friend gets up in the night, makes herself something to eat and a cuppa, sometimes goes back to bed but often just stays up for the rest of the night.
Hello Owls ?
Anyone about tonight?
Hi FannyC - unable to sleep and no wonder. I’m watching true crime
The wind is really wild here. I did fall asleep, but then around half past one I woke-and am still trying to drop off again.
Hello H, what are you like?
If I remember correctly you enjoy scaring yourself silly, don't you.
Hello Molly it's very quiet here. Very frosty too.
Did you have a good day yesterday?
Good memory FC.....I’ve been watching true crime - I am totally aghast at how devoted husbands and father, annihilate their families for a bit on the side ?
FC Due to have chronic pain like Arthritis?
Hello again, I'm back now, I've been making tea (current cuppa: Yorkshire Tea Biscuit Brew - I've not had it in a while, someone on here mentioned it, I'd forgotten how nice it is).
Yes, H I've got problems with osteoarthritis and with my spine.
Re murderous men - and then you also get the type who kill the whole family because their wife has left them. It doesn't seem to take much to set them off. (Apologies if that sounds flippant, I don't mean it to.)
Callistemon, you make a very good point about the screen time. I simply pop in here to see if anyone's around and what the action is then I take my leave. I'm very much awake when I do this so don't find it counter productive in the sleep stakes. I can usually tell if there's a chance of dropping off and I pander to it immediately. However, the very thought of getting out of bed - I love it here - to make a cup of tea boggles my mind. Much too comfortable and cosy and I would definitely wake myself up for the remainder of the night. Also heating is on minimal which would be a real body blow to me. Don't much like cool. Of course I'm already cool enough. Couldn't resist that. What a weak person and SO corny!
Had a job finding this comforting thread tonight - lightweights the lot of you as it’s now 4a.m. and you’re all sound asleep by the look of it! Unlike kim19, getting cold and having a cup of tea generally does the trick although it’s the last resort.
No idea what’s caused the insomnia this time. Fingers crossed.
Hello Kate54! Good that we're all different, eh?!! Think I've just come to terms with the fact that I don't seem to need much sleep. However, roll on Spring and the lighter mornings and I'll be out there enjoying it and all that that entails. So pleased we're kicking January into touch today. Awful month for me at the best of times.
Good morning all! I can't wait for Spring Kim19. It's whats keeping me going at the minute. I live five minutes walk from the coast and I'm so looking forward to bright early morning walks. Also we can see the nearby hills from a bedroom window and evening sunsets in Spring are glorious. I might tiptoe down and make tea and toast.....
What are you doing to pass the time. I'm going to read my Good Housekeeping mag.
I’ve been awake since 4. Fed up. I’ve had enough of all this. Have been relatively philosophical so far, but now feel near to breaking point. Haven’t seen family for a year (i know many others are the same), haven’t had the vaccine yet although I am 80. Grumble grumble. I’d better shut up.
I think people who simply enjoy playing or tinkling an instrument can get so much pleasure from their efforts than the gruelling and often tortuous environment of studying
Marilla I did try lessons with my best friend and after a few decided it wasn't fun.
I think what ifs are part of life- "The Road Not Taken".
I'm sure you've given many people a lot of pleasure listening to your playing.
FannyCornforth we viewed the house and it would %^have needed too much work done. Also there was only a low hedge between the two back gardens. I found that a bit odd. Some day the perfect house will come on the market.. ..hopefully!
Grandma70s I too am fed up. I know I'm lucky but I'm fed up and stressed. And I'm worried for my daughter, a single parent living far away. My way of coping atm is planning ahead. And lots of relaxing meditation and long baths with nice music.
We will get through it!
Morning! I have been awake for about an hour and DH is awake too. It’s very frosty out there and pretty chilly in here too! Yawning like mad, so I should be able to drop off again.
Well, I hope you did. Didn’t wake up here until 9.40 so got some sleep in the end. This has overlapped with the Good Morning Sunday thread! They won’t want miseries like us there today!
Miseries? Moi? Aux contraire!
I might be fed up sometimes but it passes. I hope I don't come across as feeling like that all the time. I am cheerfully listening to the Archers and eating chocolate
Have a good day everyone.?
Night-time blues are the worst kind.
There was a Before and There will be an After (I heard this phrase the other day and have mentioned it on GN somewhere, possibly here. Sorry to be repeitive but find it quite helpful.
nadateturbe if The Archers came back six days a week, that would help, wouldn’t it? I don’t know what the BBC is thinking of. Not us, clearly.
Good phrase Kate54 . Must remember that one.
I also liked Natasha's use of the word yet in The Archers this morning. We can't go shopping...yet. We can't visit our grandchildren. .yet. Sounds optimistic. Every little helps.
And yes, more of The Archers would help.
Hello ladies. I only joined gransnet today and found you night owls. I cant sleep too good either unless I take a half sleeping tablet and sometimes a wee tipple of bailleys Irish cream. I am naughty, as you shouldn't have booze and tablets but it works for me when I have a bad night. I'm not in any pain, it's an overactive mind which keeps me awake. All the thoughts I should have had through the day come tumbling into my head as soon as I hit the pillow. I'm so busy talking or interacting with things, that I feel I have no " me time " to think. What's keeping me awake tonight, is to wonder what question I can ask tomorrow on gransnet. I think I will ask how old the grans are whether they are youngish or older. So please keep a wee look out for me sometime tomorrow! That's my ramble over so hopefully I can fall asleep. Good night, sweet dreams all
