Hello Everyone smile
New thread here.
Thank you all so very much for your company on the first thread.
I'm looking forward to our half asleep, woozy 2am chats moonbrew

I tried the pukkA night time tea last night and did actually sleep ok (don’t like the taste though). Just as well as I’ve been suffering a very embarrassing ailment recently which got worse yesterday following an “examination” ???

Kim19 Thu 28-Jan-21 01:58:59

Lying here revelling in having had my jab. Won't change lifestyle but certainly improves mindset. Spring in my step walk to local health centre and bingo! Lovely! Off to do some catch-up telly now. Hope those of us who aren't asleep are comfy and cosy.

Mollygo Thu 28-Jan-21 03:35:03

Hurray for you Kim19. We have an appointment so ours is soon.
Sorry about your problem Lucca. Hope the outcome is successful, however embarrassing the exam.
I’m going back to carry on listening to These Old Shades. It’s almost as good as sleeping.

Hello Everyone ?
Kimwell done, I bet that it's a lovely feeling.
Nadateturbe no, I'm not an artist really, I just meant that it's the only creative thing that I can do. I'm certain that Marillais a much better musician than I am an artist. I think that I've squandered my talents to be honest, I should have done / do more with it really. I've always been too much of a perfectionist. What's the expression? Don't let the perfect get in the way of the good?
I'd honestly really love to see you paintings nadateturbe I can't paint at all.
Lucca oh no! blushI hope that a day later you are feeling much, much better.

Marilla Thu 28-Jan-21 08:04:41

Hello Everyone,

Kim enjoy having some peace of mind having had the vaccination. Apparently there are some silly people in our village whom are talking twaddle about not going for the jab. It makes me very cross.

Fanny & nadateturbe I have spent and wasted so many hours on ‘what might have been’ if I had followed the career path expected of me as a young, aspiring student. I was given
every opportunity to study in Europe after graduating etc.
If I am honest, I couldn’t have coped with the pressures.

I think people who simply enjoy playing or tinkling an instrument can get so much pleasure from their efforts than the gruelling and often tortuous environment of studying an instrument at the level required to become a ‘professional’ musician.

I well remember my lovely Mum forking out cash she could ill afford for piano lessons for me. My heart just wasn't in it and I do believe she was trying to kind of live her life through me as it was one of her regrets for herself. I was much too sporty and wanting to be out and about rather than wasting an hour of my life on practising every day. Two years spent and not a note retained. Hopeless. Gosh, Friday again. Can't believe how quickly the days go by. I've obviously acquired expertise in doing nothing!

nanna8 Fri 29-Jan-21 02:18:08

Same with the piano playing and it is one of my regrets in life that I never really learnt to play properly. My husband can play many tunes by ear and he never even learnt. Not fair ! The other day I had another go but couldn’t even play ‘The blue bells of Scotland”. The Covid isolation changes time, all my friends agree with that. We are out of isolation here now and have to get used to using diaries again which isn’t easy.

Hetty58 Fri 29-Jan-21 02:34:23

I had a lovely big lunch and long afternoon nap yesterday - so now I'm wide awake. I find that I have the patience to get many things done in the early hours.

It doesn't really matter much, now, what time or day it is. I find the days going by very quickly, too. Just as well, as I can't wait for spring, and hopefully, my jab around Easter time.

FannyCornforth Fri 29-Jan-21 03:51:31

Hello Owls ?moon
For Marilla and anyone else interested in sewing but who don't necessarily have the skills, I've got an advert popping up for a company called Paraffle embroidery.
It looks very good.
Currently on Radio 4 - there's a man talking about the largest owls in the world - the something or other Fish Owl.
How's that for synchronisity?
And a definite yes to time going so quickly. It's ridiculous. It's strange too, because you'd expect it to be the opposite, that it would go slowly...
Current cup of tea - an Assam two bagger. brew Back soon...

nanna8 Fri 29-Jan-21 04:36:48

I was watching a barking owl on tv yesterday and we saw one once in a wild life sanctuary. They really do sound like dogs. Fascinating.

Mollygo Fri 29-Jan-21 05:20:26

Cup of Assam tea-that sounds good but I’ll just have Builders-I thought that meant strong tea, but it’s actually called that on the box.
I’ve noticed that Paraffle Embroidery too Fanny, also I remember doing latch hook cushions and wall hangings ages ago and I thought I’d try that again so I’ve ordered a cover with poppies on. It’s not complicated.
nana8 when you say get used to using diaries again, is that to track contacts?

nanna8 Fri 29-Jan-21 06:59:37

Diaries tell me where I’m going everyday!Funny you should mention that because I forgot to look this a.m. and missed a small group I was about to meet with. Oh dear.

Kim19 Sat 30-Jan-21 05:26:14

Morning to anyone who's around. Always hope it's a good sign that much deep sleep has been had when there are few contributors on here. Good old Saturday!

Rufus2 Sat 30-Jan-21 05:56:50

Kim Good Morning! Hope you slept well. smile
Before you nod off again can you explain please the logic of having a thread where sleep is encouraged, but is designed for nightowls.? confused
Why not simply pull the plug, seeing that there is little demand and do as lemslip suggests; turn it into a jokes
thread and attendances could improve out of sight! Just the thing for Owls. grin
Just a thought!

Mollygo Sat 30-Jan-21 06:34:36

Good morning. Yes Kim I do think it’s a good sign when the thread is empty. DH had his jab yesterday and we were up till 1 am as he was worried. Funny how a coffee it tea in the middle of the night is a soporific.

Rufus, you could start a night time joke thread. There are some nights where a good laugh would be just the thing!?

nadateturbe Sat 30-Jan-21 07:56:24

Good morning. Its good when it's empty but no reason to stop it.

lemsip Sat 30-Jan-21 08:13:20

misunderstood I did not
suggest that this thread was turned into a joke thread. It was perfect and as it once was before it developed into something else entirely, that's why people stopped posting. Bring it back to what it once was so that tired sleep less people can feel supported...

go away to you own joke thread rufus as you once had.

Thanks. Not really ! Got to have more tests at hospital, but worrying.
In other news had my jab yesterday ! So well organised and friendly, but I admit to feeling a bit tired and achy since. Not that that matters at all.

FannyCornforth Sat 30-Jan-21 08:38:26

Morning all ? s!
Oh lemsip I'm sorry if the thread lost its way, I'll certainly try to keep it on track.
There aren't many nights when I'm not about to post. That's why I startrd this thread and it's predecessor

FannyCornforth Sat 30-Jan-21 08:52:46

Sorry! I posted too soon.
lemsip I didn't realise that people had stopped posting sad
nadateturbe no, I'm definitely not going to stop it!
Lucca oh no. thanks Excellent news about your vaccine.
Hope that everyone has a good day.
Probably see you later moon

lemsip Sat 30-Jan-21 10:02:44

Fanny It certainly wasn't any fault of yours Fanny. It was an excellent topic you started with lots of grateful people looking on it. I have nothing but praise for you.
Please keep it going Fanny . Been looking through from beginning.

Mollygo Sat 30-Jan-21 10:18:27

Do keep it going Fanny. It’s a real blessing to know someone’s there on sleepless nights. It’s also a reminder that some nights we sleep better than others.

Kim19 Sat 30-Jan-21 10:27:55

Never occurred to me it might stop. Why would it? I think the fact that there are spasmodic numbers from night to night indicates how successful it is. Onwards!

Rufus2 Sat 30-Jan-21 11:31:14

lemsip I'm terribly sorry that I confused myself! confusedbut I'm sure it was you who posted the following message! and I've been hoping to see your contributions.
You obviously haven't noticed that I've already flown the Owl coop and started up a new thread "Humour- Non-demeaning"
You're more than welcome to contribute or even start up your own thread; it's quite easy!

Current cup of tea - an Assam two bagger. brew Back soon...

I'm going to be Devil's Advocate or Bossy Headmistress here, but, as a bit of a Night Owl (OH is a lark), but needing plenty of sleep:-

Don't they say that staring at a screen is not good if you're trying to go to sleep?
Would a brew of camomile or valerian be more conducive to sleep?

I couldn't function without 7 or 8 hours a night and well done if you can but I'm amazed at how you keep going!
Didn't they say that Winston Churchill and Maggie Thatcher needed little sleep? Perhaps that's why I've never been PM.
