Soop's welcoming kitchen for kindly caring folk...

Thank you to you all.
Mya's diet has been the same for 18months. She's such a healthy 6 year old. She had a clean bill of health from the rescue centre. I use the same vet that visits the centre weekly.

I tried her on chicken and rice for a few days. A slight improvement but nothing to how she is normally. In the past two weeks, she only got through the night twice.

Vet has recommended Chappie. Picked 6 tins up with the click and collect order yesterday. No food today and starting her with a few small meals during the day tomorrow. Also keeping her on the lead for walks through our wood. She normally runs free whilst we walk. I also work outside quite alot in good weather.

We met up (sort of) in the park today. Boy, it was bitterly cold here in South Manchester. The grandchildren were on their bikes ‘hi grandma!’. Just lovely to see them for this half hour a week. Weather permitting, which it hasn’t been the last 3 weeks - torrential rain or snow. Anyway they looked happy and healthy with rosy cheeks in the fresh air!

Himself is watching football after which a takeaway curry will be ordered. I’ve done nothing all afternoon apart from mess about on here. I need to address this addiction. I’ve even stopped reading books! What is the matter with me - I keep disappearing down this rabbit hole.

Hello all. Sorry to hear of some adverse reactions to the vaccination. Hope they wear off soon. We are still waiting to hear about an appointment.

Just been watching The Dig on Netflix. Lovely interesting and relaxing TV. Nice to have something without violence in it for a change.

We enjoyed The Dig this afternoon and DH has been researching the true story. We live close to Sutton Hoo but have never been.

Nemesia welcome if you are new. I have not seen your name before . If you want another very pleasant thread it is Mick's Good Morning. My preference is the kitchen because I have got to "know" the people here over the last 10 years or so.

This thread had a few deletions recently but that hiccup is now over- we were just wishing somebody good luck for the future.

Just a quick pop in for me. Lovely to see so many people here getting jagged. Unfortunately despite my great age and many co morbidities I won't be jagged before April sometine because of the way Portugal is rolling out the vaccine. If my oncologist is to be believed I won't ever get the vaccine.

Anyway I am having 5 days of radiotherapy on my middle spine from Monday at the main cancer hospital which is one hours drive each way. So we shall see if that helps.

Soop I cant believe you are still having problems with BT about your Internet and I do hope it is finally sorted soon. Then some hefty compensation paid. It makes Portugals rollout of fibre optic cables seem very advanced.

Lovely to see that Izabella posted. I just love how descriptive her posts are and its lovely to see things through her eyes. I also remember how her CH was so kind when he messaged me a while ago.

Thank you for those lovely tulips puzzler. Delighted to hear so many of you have had your first jag. I’m waiting hopefully for an envelope in March. I had made gallons of marmalade. I’m convinced it makes me feel better in myself. I have left a couple of jars on the side with home made bread. The moon is looking wonderful in a very starry sky on an incredibly cold night. Snow was forecast today but we have sunshine. I rather prefer the latter although it is very cold here.

Another month has flown past- still my premium bonds will come up trumps in two days time- that is a dead cert. I think it was an admin error the recent months.

The house is still very quiet and lonely without Tara but she was here for 14 years- a long time. I must not get maudlin.

Can I suggest you have a little cat for a short holiday? I can pack Ruby a bag and send her to you. She’ll scratch the side of your chair, but she’ll be happy with you as long as you sit and allow her to get on your lap. For hours.
If - no, when , your premium bonds come up, Ruby would like some new felt mice please. She is far too lazy to catch any.

Ruby I think would love it here with me. I would also like the fact she does not like to find her own lunch- I am more than happy to provide that for her. I am not used to a lap cat and I do wriggle so that may be a tad difficult. Bedtime would be good, she would have half of the bed and get loads of cuddles.

After lockdown and when I feel up to it I will consider fostering.

What a start to a Sunday!

Woke up to Sam barking - an unheard of event, wandered out bleary eyed to a house that looked like a massacre had taken place !! There was blood everywhere !!

On the floor , up the walls ..... honestly I couldn't believe my eyes.

Turns out Sam's lump was now not weeping but WAS itchy and he had duly scratched the life out of it !! His dark coat hid the fact he was soaked in blood.

We've spoken to the vet but a cone of shame wont work as its his neck that's affected so he is currently wearing a very fetching t shirt that the boys had left here. We're using pressure and ice cold compresses to slow the bleeding and it is better thank goodness.

Honestly, I was tempted to go and look for the other bodies from the amount of blood. I know a little goes a long way but this was ridiculous.

Anyway, all is calm for now. We will be back at the vets tomorrow for the blood test results and to decide a course of action for his neck. I might need to go and have a lie down :-) - dogs eh? Good job we love him !!

I'm creeping back into the kitchen with goodies, after I got a row for mentioning a certain poster. This weekend I have baked my socks off. Peanut butter cookies, scones, cinamon buns and flapjacks. Later I'm making banana bread. Most of it gets given away as I'm diabetic but I can't help myself! Have a good day all and I hope Sam is alright.

Blimey N&G! What a start to the day for you, and poor Sam! It must have been driving him mad. Hope things have settled down a bit now and the vet can offer solutions to make him more comfortable.

Greyduster it's the first time I've made them. I got the recipe from another thread and thought I'd try them. Unfortunately I won't have any because of the high sugar content so you're very welcome to some.

N&G so sorry to hear about Sam- it must have been painful as well as itchy for him. I know it is not pleasant clearing up so much blood but at least it was not a purulent discharge. My hope is he has not lost so much blood it has affected his haemoglobin levels. Please give him a hug from me, he deserves it especially as he does not know what is happening.

BladeAnnie handsome as Duncan is he must take a fair bit of looking after with that gorgeous coat. I would not like to be dong the grooming.

N&G I gasped when I read the latest news regarding Sam. You must have been terrified to see so much blood. I shall be relieved when the vet has dealt with cause of Sam's dismay. Poor boy. Us lot are so very fond of him, you too.

Daisyboots I'm sorry to hear that you are to have further radiotherapy on your spine. You will be in our thoughts and we wish you well in all manner of things, especially your health.
