Great news Grammaretto?. I don’t care what colour the envelopes are, I just want the vaccine. ?

EkwaNimitee Mon 25-Jan-21 09:43:23

Good Morning Everyone from the Cumbrian coast where it's very cold but sunny currently though with snow-threatening clouds drifting over occasionally. These British winters are hard-going when you're used to spending them in Spain.
Cheerful thought for the day--I'm opening my blinds earlier and closing them later due to the lengthening days. Spring is coming soon! And with that, I'm off for a morning of housework.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 25-Jan-21 09:47:17

Sar53 hope all goes well for your DD thanks

Nice receptionist on duty I have a phone call after 3pm from a GP (I think mine has disappeared off of the face of the Earth)

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

EllanVannin Mon 25-Jan-21 09:49:52

Good Morning All x.
A cold frosty but bright morning. The road at the side of me looks a bit lethal---scares me to death.
D had said she'd take me to M&S today so I hope the roads have cleared and also the area into the shop. I'm so scared of falling. I'll take the rolled-up brolly for balance grin---don't do sticks ( or I'll feel old before my time )

All's well with the arm as I've been able to sleep on it, just a bit of a dull ache when I move it, but it'll be gone tomorrow. It hasn't stopped me from eating grin

Waiting to hear the results from GD's test, Friday, when she'd said she felt rough. It'd be a bit late in the day if it's positive because of me being with D on Saturday, but not my fault !

Sorry to hear your DD is unwell Gagagran, I know how worrying it is and hope there's some improvement in the next few days.

Always interesting to hear fromSheepandcattle and the ongoing work on a farm, it's never-ending with so much involved besides just feeding the animals. Keep up the good work.

One of my cats doesn't know what to be up to, I'm watching her. She's like a naughty child and always likes to eat out of the dishes of the others to see if they've got anything different from her and the other two allow her to because she's the boss. A real character who looks straight at me with a " knowing" face. So obedient as well, for a cat.

I don't really envisage doing much today in the way of housework, apart from a bit of shuffling around in the freezer to make room for more. That'll be the extent of the exertion for the day grin

Hope you all manage to stay well in this cold, wrap up well x
Thoughts to those who aren't feeling too clever and as always to our Gilly x
Take care everyone and stay safe this Burn's Night----enjoy the Haggis wi' neeps and roastit tatties xx ( would have been my mum's Birthday )

Good morning from a frosty NE where the temperature is rising nicely.
DH has hospital appointment at lunchtime so a delayed meal today.
Long Skype talk with DD and SIL, they have two foster cats that do not get on so have to be kept in different parts of the house.
DD has much stricter covid rules, masks are mandatory when you step out of your front door and they have a curfew too.
Ended up searching Netflix for a film last night a few false starts but found a feel good one which ended the day on a positive note.
Have a good day.

Auntieflo Mon 25-Jan-21 09:50:30

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all, from a beautifully sunny, snowy remainders, it of Berks.
Yesterday we stayed in, hunkered down all day, and binge watched The Queen's Gambit. Loved it.
I am waiting to see how my sister in law is today. Yesterday she broke her hip and was due to have an operation.
Elizabeth1, glad to hear that you got a cuppa, prayers from us here, to add to the others.
Loved your joke GrandMattie, and nice to hear that Iris enjoyed her sledging.

Hoping that GrannyGravy, and Sar53s DD2 , and GagaGrans DD , will all soon be feeling a bit more up to par
Gagagran, I love cold meat, especially if it comes with Bubble and Squeak.
Our youngest grandson Marydoll, can be challenging, at times, but he is a loveable little man.

Today I may start on making covers for two very big cushions, if I have the energy. Also I have mislaid a big tin of Mamade, so won't be making marmalade, just yet.

According to my Patient Access site, I have a phone call booked with the Dr this afternoon. I didn't book it?

To all those feeling blue, or under the weather, best wishes, and have a good day one and all.

Good Morning everyone and a very Happy Burns Night to all and every Tartan Gran ! May you get the chance to share in a little cheer. GrannySomerset - you’re spot on : I recently heard a Psychiatrist pointing out how important it is for us to hold on to our routines and some of the stuff of normal life. It’s more important than ever now to safeguard our mental health and give us the motivation to keep going during these mad times. May blue envelopes rain down on you all, Mary. Well done, Grammaretto - something to look forward to.

Wishing better health soon to your family, Gaga. Try not to worry. Beau winter weather like this really puts the pressure on when you have dearly loved animals outside. Bet they were thrilled to see you. My sheep used to sit in the snow, sometimes with huge frozen fleeces. To then feel their hot skin underneath that iciness and know that they were comfortable was always a relief. They’ve got insulation off to a fine art! My bucket-carrying days are over. I can still do it and then can’t cope with the pain the following days, so unless in dire emergencies would have to hand the bucket to someone with a stronger back now. sheepandcattle how I used to love my chats with my sheepy people. They all had names, so conversation was a lot easier. When the two rams would get a bit rough in the sheepshed as I walked in with a hay bale, I’d sit above them and perch on top of the mangeoire/manger, so they could eat without using me as a battering ram! (No pun intended). They were so intelligent and so sweet-natured - I miss them every day. Hope all your calving is successful and trouble-free.

What a lovely Gran you are, farview - maybe give your [slightly shorter] legs a rest today? Good luck with the dentist, Viridian . Everyone, please try to stay upright - broken bones and Covid will not be a good pairing. Don’t be jealous of my wonderful beach walks, croissants and a haircut, NannyTops because....

We may be facing another Lockdown! I just can’t bear to think about it....one step forward, 10 steps back. Will this never end?
In my jollier moments, I try to think ‘what can we do, other than just keep buggering on’ .... as Mr Churchill used to say?

Sun’s coming out. Laundry is waiting. Cat flu booster injections are due this week. New medication from the Pharmacy needs collecting and I’m waiting (hopefully not in vain) for a friendly DHL man to turn up from the UK with a load of paint. We will then be able to do some decorating without thinking about too much else!!

Pitt keep meaning to ask when your move is due and what you’ve chosen and why and what you’re looking forward to. Think we all need some distraction - and some house moving adventures might just fit the bill, if you don’t mind the nosey questions !! You can see I have to focus on someone else’s [normal] life when mine seems to be grinding to a halt.

All and everyone, find a happy face please. Stay safe, stay warm, stay positive and STAY SANE !

Hugs as always from French France.

Good morning, it’s snowing again so no walk. I had a very productive day yesterday sorting the new storage boxes, so nice to have the clutter organised and out of sight.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 25-Jan-21 10:09:33

Good Morning all from very chilly Harrogate but the sun is shining!
Had a particularly lousy night last night - I can't see the point of giving medication which has a side effect of insomnia! How are you supposed to get better without sleep?
Thought DD2 was going to pop in, the girls have a good arrangement, DD2 takes her son to DD1 on Monday, then she can do some work, then on Friday DD2 has them both
Absolutely nothing planned today apart from cooking and talking to my school friend then later my sister

Keep safe everyone and hope you all are feeling well

Urmstongran Mon 25-Jan-21 10:16:21

A late good morning everyone from South Manchester where we’ve had another snow fall during the night and our decking outside the front door is ‘deep and crisp and even’ ? ?

I slept for a solid nine hours I think I’m turning into a dormouse. It’s Sainsbury’s this morning + Himself has just gone down with the list. Excellent. No other plans for being out & about today so I’ve put pork steaks on the list with sprouts and cauliflower for a nice dinner later.

Sorry to hear you have Mr Grumpy at home with you today Elizabeth. It can’t be easy for you some days as you are reliant on him and must feel the need to humour him. Hope you get your wheezy chest sorted GG13 it must have been all our clog dancing in the Argy on Friday that brought it on! Love the joke granMattie I shall borrow that today to share - my first giggle of the day, a great start.

Right, going to drink my second cuppa now before it gets cold. Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

LauraNorder Mon 25-Jan-21 10:18:12

Good morning Mick and all from dry and sunny Anglesey. Orlin met our new neighbours yesterday, chatted for half an hour but can’t remember a thing they said other than that they come from Staffordshire and will be bringing a caravan on site to live in while they gut the place.
Haven’t had near neighbours for many years, will be a pleasant change, I hope.
Enough about me, I shall go back and read all the news, hope you all have a lovely day and that pant and taichinan turn up soon.

amselerin Mon 25-Jan-21 10:22:47

Good morning all, I sincerely hope that it is a good morning for you all. It is just 1 degree here, but that suits me fine. A little bit of snow would make my day. My little dog prefers to sleep under his blanket. I would love to take the bus into town today and wander about the empty streets, but there are no toiletts open, Just a few take aways and shops selling essentials.
I feel happy for all of you who have family close by. Hopefully all of this is soon behind us. I am enjoying every day reading all your posts, I would love to be beside the seaside but we can`t have everything.Be happy and have only good things happening to you.

Mapleleaf Mon 25-Jan-21 10:26:55

Good morning all from a frosty but bright South Yorkshire.

Happy Burns Night wishes to all who celebrate it on GN. Hope you enjoy your haggis and neeps and tot of whisky ?.

As usual these days, nothing exciting on the agenda for today. Just the same old, same old.

Lovely to hear all your farming news Sheepandcattle. A very busy, but, I imagine, happy time for you at the moment with all the new arrivals. Thank you for finding the time to post and tell us all about it.

Take care everyone. ? for all of you with concerns, ill health or worries.

Urmstongran Mon 25-Jan-21 10:32:42

I had only read as far as GG13 post when I said about Mr Grumpy Elizabeth. Its nice to hear that he apologised to you - as you say your stroke journey hasn’t been easy for either of you. I hope I didn’t offend. x

HAZBEEN Mon 25-Jan-21 10:36:05

Good morning everyone from a bright but cold Surrey. There is still snow lying but the sun is out. According to Mr H its slippy underfoot and very cold, not that I will be venturing out today. Tomorrow I have a blood test at 8.35 before my telephone consultation next week. Now we see if the chemo is working.
Tomorrow is also my OHs 60th birthday, we had planned a trip away but thats on hold obviously. I will be 65 in April so hopefully later this year we can celebrate both!
Today I plan to post a load of things to sell on line. After the clear out at my neighbours and my rummage around the cupboards I have amassed a load of stuff! I will try to sell but if it doesnt go in a week or so its going on Freecycle! The car boot is already full of things for the charity shop but that isnt going anywhere soon!
Stay safe all!

Grandmadougal Mon 25-Jan-21 10:38:37

Good morning from a very cold but sunny Norfolk.

Care home rang yesterday and we can do a window visit to MiL at last. It’s so sad that residents are so isolated but for the right reasons.

Expecting parcel from DHL apparently I am the 80th drop off and he’s only at 53, modern technology is wonderful as I can plan my day around this.

Starting to think about seeds to grow soon, something to look forward to ?

amselerin I would love to look around the shops too, not even to buy anything just to have a sense of normality, soon hopefully.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Callistemon Mon 25-Jan-21 10:40:53

Good morning Mick and everyone.

It's a beautiful, bright sunny day here in S Wales but looks rather treacherous underfoot so we may not venture out.

DH seems fine so far after having the vaccine on Saturday, he said he felt a bit tired and had a slight headache yesterday but that could be coincidence. I'm still waiting for a phone call - we've been told to expect to be summoned by phone here, not letter
I really should have used some foresight and ordered a haggis with the online grocery shop, surprisingly we used to go to some excellent Burns Suppers here in Wales a few years ago! It will be neaps, tatties and leftover beef casserole tonight instead.

I hope those who aren't well recover quickly, take care everyone.

Craftycat Mon 25-Jan-21 10:41:49

We've got SNOW!! It's a treat in Surrey. I don't think it will last the day out but it looked lovely yesterday. All 4 cats are loving it. Costing me a fortune in bird food though as the poor birds are very hungry today so all the feeders are being constantly filled up.

Stilllearning Mon 25-Jan-21 10:42:13

Morning from S Lanarkshire, very cold but bright. I’m going to risk a walk to our local Tesco this morning, I am so annoyed about a couple of items I received in a delivery last night, one rotten potato out of a pack of four and a pack of nine crumpets (you started me on this addiction EllanVannin!), with a use by date today. I can’t bare to not use them so back they are going.
Last evening I had booked a ticket to watch one of the Celtic Connections shows, The Secret Sisters and The Kinnaris Quintet, they were both pleasant listening and I’m looking forward to my other choice on Wednesday, Cherish the Ladies. I go to see them every year and although it’s nothing like actually seeing them live, it’s good to feel you’re giving a little support. Hopefully next year!
Good wishes all x

Mine are the same grandmattie.

Callistemon Mon 25-Jan-21 10:43:59

We've got SNOW!! It's a treat in Surrey.
Was that Box Hill on the news last night Craftycat? People were having fun sledging; I remember taking the DC there once many years ago when we lived near there.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 25-Jan-21 11:26:12

A late morning all from a bright South Notts where we have blue skies and some sunshine to make up for and hopefully melt the snow of yesterday which is ankle deep. Neighbours are playing snowballs so I'm glad someone enjoys it.

I don't feel as hopeless and depressed today and am trying to keep busy. So many of you have much worse troubles than me. Sometimes silly little things build up and feel overwhelming.

Hope all is well for everyone especially those with illness or worries.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 25-Jan-21 12:02:01

For anyone feeling a bit down (and everyone else) something to lighten the mood!!
A golden Oldie!

Good morning everyone. It's a bright crispy day in the Gower.

Astonishingly we actually had snow yesterday, and big flakes of it too. It snowed for over an hour, very unusual.

I had another bad night and fell out of bed again ?. The funny thing about it last night was that I thought I had taken the bed with me and was trying to put it back ?. Then I was wandering around the room trying to find it ?. Talk about postictal confusion!!

This morning we've had a 'mare with our printer and have been trying to photocopy a document to hand back a copy to a very impatient kitchen fitter. The printer was having none of it, grr. The fitter was not impressed but hey ho he should have his own copy!

We had another hiccup yesterday ?. We were sitting in the lounge whilst our dinner was cooking away in the slow cooker. All of a sudden we heard one almighty clatter coming from the kitchen ?. It shocked us both, not just the noise but because we both envisaged our dinner all over the floor and a broken crockpot to boot. It wasn't that, thank goodness, I was looking forward to my dinner. The kitchen blind had broken completely and clattered onto the sink drainer and bits of it has even made it onto the floor ?. Dinner was saved! A bit of a mess thought and food was delayed ?. Oh well, we'll need a new blind anyway once the kitchen has been done ?

See what the rest of today brings now! ?

? for those who need them today. I hope Pantglas and Taichinan are okay. Thinking of you Susan x

Stay safe and cosy everybody ❤️
