Justine Roberts it's the head honcho. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
Good Morning Thursday 13th August 2026
I am a 'lockdown-joiner' to this forum, welcoming the opportunity join in with others who are similarly 'shut inside'.
I have been wondering whether people have found that the site has changed in any way over the last year?
Themes/quantity of posts/membership/patience/tolerance?
Just curious!

You could try [email protected] Doodle
Or [email protected]
But it will probably end up being dealt with by a minion.

By banning someone who lives alone, having nursed a very sick husband and having been widowed and then living alone through a national crisis which leaves many with gransnet as their only lifeline.
Are you going to be accountable for the possible repercussions of your actions?
Same question to the poster/posters who report such people.
Wheniwasyourage said this was a good post. I would agree with LauraNorder's comment but how do you get to know such personal details about another GNer?
Help! Perhaps it comes by reading a lot of threads and comments for some considerable time. There are some very supportive threads where you get to know so much about an individual. Would a new poster have such information before reporting someone?
This puzzles me: As a newcomer, how do you know when someone has had a warning or been banned? Does GN publish it? I'm presuming it's through more personal communication methods.
Can you still PM someone after they have been banned?
I'm still learning
muse the poster in question has been on GN for many years and has been a lovely caring poster to many. Sadly her dear husband died and she posted about her loss and grief in heartfelt and beautifully caring posts. She has a wonderful sense of humour and many kind qualities which is why so many of us are up in arms about her being banned for good and want the ruling changed.
I imagine the poster was well known to many having been on the site a long time. You pick up things about people from their posts.
You don’t know if someone has been banned or suspended unless they tell others on the site by PM. No they cannot PM after being banned making it an even worse punishment by cutting off all contact.
Muse said poster has been here a long time and many of us were “with” her during her husband’s last illness and death. She has been supported by GN members but is equally a tremendous support to others. I was lucky and met her at a get together.
Lifetime bans and lifetime final warnings could be considered cruel and unusual punishment. To never be able to lose a penalty strike against you seems excessive. Maybe a 3 month or even 6 month term, then it should be expunged.
Muse you cannot PM a poster if they have been suspended or banned. All lines of communication are cut.
Posters may be in contact through email or text , because they have trusted other members with their contact details to organise meetups. Some of the Glesca Grannies have my details because I organised the Glasgow meetups.
In my own case, it took a long time for me to share details with people I knew that I could trust and who had become friends. My IT internet security training made me very wary initially of giving out details.
You pick up a lot about posters' lives on the GM and Kitchen threads, that's why some of us appear to know so much about other posters.
Nothing sinister here.
Would a new poster have such information before reporting someone?
No idea, but neither do I fully understand why any adult would want to report another poster on a discussion board
.
I can understand someone flagging a post that they see as racist or similar, but reporting a poster seems petty and childish. If we responded to any perceived digs face to face none of this would be necessary. Also, if someone is blatantly winding up someone else, then others on the thread will see it and can ask the offender to wind her neck in.
You do get to know people after all this time on the site and,as topsy said, at meet ups.
Doodledog No idea, but neither do I fully understand why any adult would want to report another poster on a discussion board confused.
This absolutely. It's horrible to think somebody got pleasure from helping to get another member banned.
muse, I have never pm’d the banned poster and don’t know her personally but was a member when her husband was ill, when he sadly died and as she has bravely carried on over the years since. She has wonderful empathy and has helped many people going through similar tragedy.
She has been fun in the Argy and an intelligent opponent when disagreeing on politics. She is well travelled and has a love of family and of theatre. She has posted a lot during covid, as have we all, indicating how much this site means to her life. I have gleaned all of this because I like to read her interesting posts.
There is a particular poster, who seems to have flounced off, who appears to deliberately goad her. Coincidentally this is often followed by the flouncers running mate joining in. The flouncer accuses the person in question of bullying when she stands up for herself and Often claims to be hurt and upset but continues to goad. I think the suspicion is that either the flouncer or one of a few running mates then report the person in question with a view to getting her suspended and ultimately, as has happened, banned.
I should read this quickly muse as I suspect it will be deleted,
Surely MawBe can't be completely banned. (I'm not faffing about alluding to her obliquely). Come on GNHQ have a heart - either that or get a grip! What sort of organisation are you?
Does anyone else think that GN's days might be numbered?
This thread is perfect ammunition for those who would like it to be the case.
I think that's unlikely. This has happened on MN quite a bit. Its still going strong.
Is it though galaxy? How come the ill-fated MN Premium came about?
MN might be able to hold its own in the current climate, but can it keep GN afloat too?
Hang on - are there two 'galaxies'?
One with a lower case 'g' and one with a capital 'G'?
I'm used to the lower case galaxy
I would be quite happy for my business to be as successful as MN. Not that I have a business
.
What a travesty Fanny if that should be the case, so many of us have found it to be a helpful support during the last year, whether as lurkers, intermittent or regular posters.

I looked on the main Facebook Gransnet to see if anything had been mentioned there about this situation, but no. Nothing much apart from adverts and GNHQ posts. This needs to be known about.
Where I work, they are proactively trying to help and support us all with any mental health concerns we may have due to the pandemic. Employers have a Duty of Care to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees. This includes their mental health and well-being. No doubt the Gransnet employees are being well supported.
Gransnet has a lot of older members living alone. Surely GNHQ should feel some sort of moral responsibility to help their members get through this strange situation. This forum is the only place for some people to have human connection. To impose or threaten a permanent ban at this time is cruel and could have awful consequences. Please rethink.
I'm sure that won't happen there's plenty of money in MN to support GN.
I guess she can view but not post or PM.
It is a very harsh & heavy handed decision by GNHQ who are under no obligation, other than moral, to care a jot. It all feels a bit sad.

If both have been on GN for very many years, then yes. Some threads are very supportive and posters do talk about their problems and know that they will receive help, kindness and support on those threads.
Some posters know one another in real life from meetups or past acquaintance.
Some posters seem to start threads asking for help but are never seen posting a kind word for others - fair enough as some people are very needy and cannot see beyond their own problems.
The banned poster is not one of those latter posters - I have noticed that she offers support, kind words and helpful advice to others even in the midst of dealing with her own problems.
I don't profess to know who you are on about re: dog woman, but frankly, I am not surprised GN are taking a hard line now. This has been coming for a very long time. No one would listen to reason though so this is where things are.
I'd like to think things would change as a result, but I doubt it.
Don't be disingenuous Gagajo - you know perfectly well who and what we are talking about and how this situation has come about.
