Why is this I wonder ? Asking for advice but never returning to acknowledge any responses .

I don't find it surprising or get cross because I've "wasted time" answering.

It's a chat site, I'm here to chat, and if the subject matter is interesting then who cares?

People may be unwell, working, having a difficult time, other priorities, emergencies, overtime at work, no internet... the list is endless, and that's without what has already been said.

I certainly wouldn't engage further with people who haven't the good manners to be polite.

We keep asking GNHQ to highlight any comments made by the original OP but nothing changes

@Fennel it doesn’t do anything on Gransnet when you prefix the name with @. Nobody is notified so there is no point in doing it.
Just to check - did you receive notification by email that you have been mentioned on this thread?

smile I think there are now five comments on this thread asking for this. It's also been asked for on other threads.

Has anyone had a reply from GNHQ about it?

I get the all of the op's comments highlighted in green. (I'm on my phone.)
Like others I do find it a bit rude when the op doesn't return to acknowledge responses.

Could be any number of reasons why not, though. Illness, something happened in the family, anything really so it doesn’t bother me . I think probably a chat site is ‘the last cab off the rank’for some if there is something chaotic going on in their lives.

Working or time difference as well. Some people only get a small portion of their day available for 'internetting' (the silly term we use). There are Australians, NZ, Americans and Canadians here as well in different time zones.

My very first post on GN was asking advice about washing some curtains.

Several people were good enough to offer advice, and I made a point of going back on later and saying how it went (it was ok).

Just seems courteous really.
