Hello all kitchen friends. I’m so sorry Nana&G.
For your beloved Sam to be so ill and crying pitifully, well it’s heartbreaking for you. I hope he gets the hydration he so needs and pain relief too. ?
Good to hear from you Panache. There are many loving thoughts swirling around the kitchen for you - I hope you can feel them. Glad that MrP is getting enough care to keep him comfortable, and keep you rested too. ?

annodomini Tue 09-Mar-21 14:37:09

N&G, I'm so sorry for poor wee Sam and also for both of you. We do suffer with as well as for our pets. I hope your company on the sofa will aid his recovery and that the news about the nature of the tumour will be favourable. You must be overwhelmed with anxiety. (((hugs))) for you and a gentle pat on the head for Sam.
soop, are you absolutely sure that Fern is a female? I ask because, if she is a female and living rough, I'd expect her to be pregnant. If she has been - or is - someone's pet, she could have been spayed! She evidently has friends and perhaps next time she will bring more of them round for a good old nosh-up!
I Just happened to be on the M&S web site, so had a nosey at their sofas which mostly look just the job. A friend of mine has a M&S sofa which I have proved, on many occasions, to be very comfy indeed. Have you chosen the upholstery?
I concur that Teddy is very like you - you must have strong genes. Lovely as it is to get frequent pictures, you must be longing to meet him in person. My teenage GC are back to school this week - two of them start tomorrow because the school is sensibly staggering the return. The other two went back to their respective 6th forms yesterday. Long may it last!
Panache, it's good to know that you are both getting all the care you need and deserve. Thinking of you and wishing your husband freedom from pain and you the blessing of peaceful sleep. xx

Grandmafrench Tue 09-Mar-21 15:52:08

Little Sam, please get well for your Mum and Dad and don’t be distressed, they love you to bits ❤️.
Glad there is respite at last for you and that dear man, Panache. Forget everything except time spent together and let others carry your load for a while. x

soop Tue 09-Mar-21 16:24:36

N&G The first post I read concerned Sam. I was hoping for better news. All that you can do is keep him comfortable and we are all rooting for an improvement. It's a very tough time for you. The Kintyre Two send their love.

soop Tue 09-Mar-21 16:38:33

Urms hmm But I am cute. Haven't you noticed?

Panache Thank you for updating us with your latest news. It really is a blessing that you moved house and have now found ongoing support. It is what you both deserve.

I've been in touch with the surgery and the GP will phone me on Thursday morning. I realise that the problem is difficult to solve. However, I need to follow up with the surgeon and explain that the prolapse is much worse since the latest surgery.

Weather permitting, we have an early start tomorrow. The hospital is approx a three hour drive away (depending on road works.) As we'll be late-ish returning home, I shall come into our kitchen for cupcake and a happy blether on Thursday.

I need to attend to a few jobs. Nothing strenuous. May I wish you all goodnight and in doing so, I send countless good vibes across the miles for all of those who are having a stressful time. And that includes our precious pets. smile moon

I don't come into the kitchen very often but I was sorry to hear about Sam N&G. I hope you have better news soon,
I'm glad to hear that Panache and MrP are receiving the help that they need.
Safe trip to Mr and Mrs Soop for tomorrow, what a journey for you both !!
Three of my granddaughters are back at school, another goes back tomorrow. I spoke to Efa, who is 5, earlier, I do miss them all, it was August last year that I last saw them.
Hoping I may get to visit at the end of May.
A visit to the opticians this morning resulted in a new pair of varifocals. Very hard to choose when you have to wear a mask but I am happy with the ones I picked out.
Best wishes to everyone xx

Puzzler61 Tue 09-Mar-21 17:01:36

Wishing you a safe journey and a good outcome tomorrow soop ?

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Mar-21 17:30:50

Safe journey soop a long way for a tedious but necessary squish. GD back to seniors Friday, GS has been going in along along with DD as she works in his school, but he was pleased to see all his friends back yesterday. Cleaned the cooker and fridge today, I seem to have come over a bit dynamic this week after being a lazy mare for quite a while, but it is only Tuesday! I’ve ordered a portable AC unit, the heat last summer was oppressive at times, it must be humidity, we lived in France, which occasionally hit 40, no problem. Perhaps because we were out socialising a lot and our house was stone, so very cool, I miss the shutters which were so efficient.
N&G the whimpering must tear through you, tricky times.
Well, garden is battened down, any walk tomorrow will be soggy, glad I got my onions in. I must get dinner on soon, chicken breasts with bacon wrap and herbs from the garden, have a gentle evening all. TTFN (my Dad always used to say that).

kittylester Tue 09-Mar-21 17:46:58

Just popping in to let Jaxjacky know that our new chair is coming next week so those nasturtiums I cast about JL have been slightly withdrawn. Though this is the 3rd attempt to buy from them.

Yiayia4 Tue 09-Mar-21 17:57:52

Safe journey tomorrow Soop

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Mar-21 18:17:18

Safe journey tomorrow Soop . I'm suffering tonight from a bad attack of sciatica.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Mar-21 18:23:15

Thanks kitty I’ll see if my nasturtiums produce, or not, due date May somewhen. ?

Nannytopsy Tue 09-Mar-21 19:06:49

Good luck tomorrow soop - I hope the journey goes smoothly.
N&G love to Sam - poor chap.
Panache I am glad that your are both getting support now.
I hope everyone has battened down their hatches. Have a good evening.

Doodle Tue 09-Mar-21 19:33:44

Safe journey tomorrow soop hope all goes well.
N&G poor Sam. Do hope he feels better soon.
Take care all ?

Doodle Tue 09-Mar-21 19:34:31

Oh dear I almost forgot ? hello Urms no doubt you’ll be by later to check up I’ve not forgotten you ?

Urmstongran Tue 09-Mar-21 19:45:42

‘Evening All’
?

I made the SOAP dish for our daughter & Himself and I had a walk through the park to drop it off at theirs this afternoon. Other than that not much really. I spent too much time on here chipping in on all the threads about that interview last night. Enough now I’m done with talking about it. Tomorrow I shall ration the time spent on here! Mind you I said that on Sunday ...
?

Panache I’m glad to hear that you and your husband are receiving the support you both sorely need. I can only imagine the emotional roller coaster you are experiencing.

Poor little Sam his whimpering must tug at your heartstrings N&G. I hope something can be done for your much loved pet.

Right, time for a cuppa before I settle down to tonight’s episode of ‘Unforgotten’.

Wishing us all a peaceful night ahead. x

‘Goodnight All’.

Urmstongran Tue 09-Mar-21 19:48:29

It’s easy done Doodle.
I forgot to wish soop ‘all the best’ for tomorrow. What a journey to have to undertake. Beggars belief really that the appointment can’t be nearer home.

Hellogirl1 Tue 09-Mar-21 20:45:07

Where Soop lives, Urmston, there is only a cottage hospital about 25 miles from them, for anything major it means a long journey to Glasgow or Oban. I hope they have a safe journey tomorrow, and good fish and chips!
Panache, good to hear that your man is getting the very best of care now, I hope it`s giving you a chance to rest a little as well?
N&G, so sorry to hear of Sam`s plight, I hope that the vet can do something positive for him. I`m sending good vibes to him x
Lynne got the NHS letter yesterday inviting her to book her vaccination, but there is no proviso for housebound who can`t get to the locations, so we`ve rung our surgery and were told that she`ll hear from them soon.

muse Tue 09-Mar-21 22:55:12

Sorry to hear about Sam N&G.
Soop. Sorry you've got such a long journey.
Had a very worrying call from son this evening. Haven't heard from him since last December. I always suspect the worst when the calls gets further and further apart. Don't think I will sleep much tonight.

Urmstongran Tue 09-Mar-21 23:00:36

Oh muse I hope it’s not as bad as whatever you fear. You will have a restless night now. Remember 9 times out of 10 our worst fears never happen. Fingers crossed for you. x

cornergran Tue 09-Mar-21 23:27:14

Oh blimey n&g, you must be more than worried about Sam. I’m sorry, not the news you wanted. In your position I think I’d be telling the children Sam is ill and leave it at that. Fingers definitely crossed here.

Safe trip tomorrow soop, wind is already picking up here, hope it’s not too wild.

I understand the call was a worry muse, you not sleeping will make not a jot of positive difference though. The tired voice of experience here. I hope you can sleep. even if just a little bit. More crossed fingers that things won’t be as bad as you crae.

Good to hear you have excellent support in place Panache, my good wishes to you bith.

Good night everyone, sleep well.

Grandmafrench Tue 09-Mar-21 23:42:30

Nighty night all,
Safe journey The Soops

Sweet Dreams, Kitchen peeps ??

annsixty Wed 10-Mar-21 06:17:49

An early Good Morning all .
I have actually had about 5 hours unbroken sleep which in present times is very unusual.
Grandmabatty you have my sympathy, many years ago I had a trapped sciatic nerve, I felt I would rather go through childbirth than the pain I experienced then.
I have never had a recurrence thank goodness.
Muse your situation is sadly not unknown to me, my S is 51 and has been a worry all his life. All good wishes to you.
soop a good journey to you, it has been quite a wild wet night here, I hope conditions are not too bad for your travels.
To everyone else, I hope you have had a half decent and stress free night.
For some reason I feel the road map isn’t as black and white as it was last week, my GD and I both feel it is far from over yet.

NanaandGrampy Wed 10-Mar-21 12:22:51

Afternoon all,

Just a quick update - Sam is doing better this morning. The vet came out late last night ( I dare not ask what that cost) and increased Sam's pain medications.

He has stopped crying mostly now thank goodness .He's happily eating but will not touch his water bowl so dinner is now swimming in a sea of watery gravy which he happily laps up.

Tomorrow evening we will be taking him back to have an evaluation and hopefully find out the nature of the tumour.

He thanks you all for your good wishes and you can rest assured an exhausted Nana and Grampy will be taking a well earned afternoon nap today!!

Grandmabatty Wed 10-Mar-21 12:40:24

Nannandgrampy it's good to hear that Sam is better. I'll bet you are both exhausted. Thank you Grandmafrench and Annsixty. The pain lessened last night with a combination of stretches and painkillers and had disappeared this morning to return with a vengeance this afternoon. I have bouts of sciatica periodically and they usually follow the same pattern but this one is different. I hope soop is getting on alright as the weather in the west has to be awful. Take care lovely kitcheners.
