Morning peeps and morning Muse. Do hope you’ll have a more positive day today. It does sound as if Mya is improving?

You’ve had 4 years of hindrances over your house build? Do tell, if you can, and distract us from our own frazzlements. I’m sad about your birthday celebrations - especially if your DH doesn’t quite ‘get it’. Please say you’ve got your health, though. Maybe that’s a good place to start. No unlimited happiness without that, is there. If that sounds trite, it’s really not. That’s just how I talk to myself when I’m convinced that life must be just out to get ME. And it’s really not! Keep buggering on, as Mr Churchill used to say. Seize on one small achievement today and try to build on that. Don’t you just love clean bed linen!? ?

Hope everyone has a good day and something to smile about.??‍♀️

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 11:55:17

Grandmafrench and all, yay, I have something to smile about. I have a connection with Gransnet. Thank goodness. I was beginning to fear another long waffle with the internet peeps and going through umpteen pesky "unplug this, reconnect with that" routines. Rant over. grin

Will have a cup of coffee and then return to catch up with my favourite peoples on the planet.

BladeAnnie Tue 23-Feb-21 12:13:15

Good Afternoon - I am a tad too late for good morning!! I have not posted for the last couple of days as I have had a problem with the GN app on both my phone and kindle. I have now reverted to the trusty old laptop and - dare I say it - all seems well smile. I've just had the nice young man from sainsbury's deliver the shopping so I can bring all manner of goodies to the kitchen today!! I am anxiously waiting to hear the road map out of Scotland's lockdown as me and Mr BA are due in Gretna Green on 13th May to say "I do"!! it seems so long since we had to postpone last May so I am really hoping...... but at the same time not holding my breath grin. Sending all you lovely people virtural hugs and stay safe

Grandmabatty Tue 23-Feb-21 12:22:23

Bladeanny I hope this afternoon goes your way. Fingers crossed. Thank you for the lovely comments about dgs and his amazing cake. He had such a good day yesterday. Lots of playing in the park. Wee scone, he was a bit bemused with the number of other wee ones running about as that's not been his experience this year. But he climbed a hill with his daddy and uncle (my son who came to join us for an hour) and he looked so happy. Today is very different as it's blowing a gale and pouring. He's having a nap and then we'll go out puddle splashing before a late lunch. The trot to the fish van was the excitement of the morning. So haddock and chips for my tea. I heartily agree with you all regarding*Grandmafrench*. In fact everyone on this thread is lovely. Have a good afternoon all.

Grandmabatty Tue 23-Feb-21 12:25:02

I've realised the post I sent yesterday which I didn't think had gone through is almost a copy of today's. So you don't have déjà vu, just a Batty Batty!

Grandmafrench Tue 23-Feb-21 12:32:40

Lovely and special 2nd birthday, then BattyBatty. x
Hooray Hooray, soop - no more delays and discombobulation due to others, eh? Have a lovely afternoon.
Blade Annie - nothing we can say to your news, except, how absolutely wonderful. (It's the casual way you came out with it......so amusing.) We're going to be absolutely crippled with keeping legs and arms and fingers and toes all crossed for May for you. Really something to look forward to. ?

Yiayia4 Tue 23-Feb-21 13:04:22

Another fan of your posts Grandmafrench your very wise and always very kind to us all.

The KFC was very good tasted like the real thing. The downside I think he used every spice and herb we have and guess who had to put them all away?

What exciting news BladeAnnie I do hope it works out.

It’s our Golden Wedding and my 70th in November we have planned a family party and special holiday.Feeling quite optimistic we shall see.

The sun is out today and I have been doing a bit of gardening so nice to be outside.
Have a good afternoon all will look in later.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 14:01:26

Grandmabatty Logan's second birthday treat, spent in the park, in the sunshine with that cake sounds perfect in every sense. Your daughter certainly has a flair for baking fabulous cakes. Bellasnana has a daughter who is gifted in the same way.

Fennel Yesterday the birds were preparing to greet spring in the usual fashion. Today however, there is a tremendous gale blowing. The waves are mighty. The gulls are soaring and swooping this way and that with such grace. I almost envy their freedom.

Urmstongran The gremlin that struck was intent on keeping me locked out of Gransnet. I could access Facebook and receive and send emails. Yet, every time I tried to log on, I was informed of an interruption in the service provider. Not being able to wish you lot goodnight dismayed me. sad

Jaxjacky Oh, the buggeration of discovering that a paper tissue has mushed up in the wash. Followed by the endless picking of bits and cursing under the breath.

Grandmafrench Bojo could have made the effort and brushed his hair before putting in an appearance. Standards matter...as my late father used to say. Father, in his prime, was a Sergeant Major. A stickler for standards.
Thank you for your lovely, kindly posts.

muse Sliding between freshly laundered bed linen is top of my list of bedtime treats, together with a good book and a cup of Horlicks and I'm a very happy bunny.

Muse and Mya, I'm wishing you both a good Tuesday.
I empathise with you regarding the thwarted attempts to make headway with your house build. Talk about a stressful time. We converted two barns and helped to build our present home, in which we've lived for seventeen years. At no time did the process proceed without major, toe curling setbacks. If those setbacks hadn't spoiled the experiences (from time to time) we would be a lot more comfortably off financially. Hey, but we made it. And so will you. sunshine

I've just this minute emptied the washing machine. No tissue, thankfully. However, a red top has dyed all whites a sugary shade of pink. Mr Soop's pale blue undies are now a becoming shade of lavender.

A friend received some very sad news today. Her 21 year old nephew, a post grad with a very bright future to look forward to, has committed suicide. Police have taken his computer in order to try to discover any background info' that may assist in discovering a reason for his death.

annodomini Tue 23-Feb-21 14:01:53

Muse, I do sympathise with you about your birthday non-celebration. My 80th was on November 5th when another lockdown began and, though my sons and partners took me out for dinner on the 4th, the big family get-together with all the GC didn't happen. We were hoping to have a party in April when DS1 will be 50. But it looks as if we have to wait until June 24th when, with luck, it we might be back to normal. Whatever that means. So, Muse, I do hope you might yet celebrate being 70. BladeAnnie, what a romantic thing to do. The only times I've been to Gretna have been to visit the retail outlet and use the 'facilities' there. I hope it works out for you this year.*Yiayia*, you should be OK to plan for November, but I think we are all a bit wary of making plans!

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 14:09:16

Yiayia I have a good feeling that by November your double celebration will take place and a happy occasion it promises to be.

BladeAnnie Us lot are sending all manner of vibes your way. We would love to help you to celebrate your long awaited wedding day. I shall pay special attention to the "road map" for the Sots when it is broadcast later today

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 14:13:18

anno I think that all want the same thing. Family gatherings are priceless. Eldest son will be 60 in July. Me 80 in August. There would be no finer gift than a family gathering. I wish you likewise.

grandmajet Tue 23-Feb-21 15:37:05

I often read the kitchen posts but rarely come in! However, Soop, your news of the young man’s suicide is just so sad. How awful for his family, how will they ever come to terms with such a thing. He must have felt there was no way out - why is this so common amongst young men these days? So sad.

I’m glad Mya seems to be on the mend Muse - I hope she continues in the same way.

Good luck to everyone with the slow progress towards meeting up with loved ones as the year progresses.

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Feb-21 15:53:58

BladeAnnie not sure if Nicola helped with her statement or not? I hope so. Fingers crossed all the dogs are well today, we don’t have animals, but I understand they are very much part of the family for many.
Oh muse what a frustrating time for you, two birthdays are in order, like the Queen and Paddington bear, probably not with marmalade sandwiches though.
Lots of sun earlier, which showed my kitchen was not as pristine as I thought, so a quick clean around, there’s only two of us so where do all the ‘bits’ on the floor come from? Sun now gone, probably in shock from my unusually hectic activity.
Lazy dinner tonight of quiche, new potatoes and veg as football on at 6, then The Bay, slothsville here, after a brisk walk and bath. See you later all.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 15:55:47

Thank you for your kind words, grandmajet Please join us whenever you wish for our company. The more the merrier. smile

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:03:20

Jaxjacky Where does the fluff come from in the cutlery drawer? That's what I would like to know. And where's that black cat? She was sitting on a low branch of a tree earlier today.
We shall also be watching The Bay. Our favourites at the mo' are Line of Duty. The Repair Shop and The Highland Vet. I also like Simon Reeves travel programmes. Some of which bring home the fact that we have much for which to be grateful.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:30:43

Muse Talk of house builds made we look out a few pics of our present home in the making.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:33:51

Ditto...Number three should have be shared first. It was the evening we sat on the foundation of what was to be our kitchen. An exciting moment.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:38:30

...and then there was the garden to create. We had the company of a peacock we named Bok. He came out of the forest. From where, we have no idea.
The caravan was not new. The water supply came from the nearby burn. The peat in the water clogged the water heater. We had to boil all water and we were lucky enough to be able to use our friends shower.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:39:56

Seventeen years ago. Thankfully, we were both relatively fit and had the energy to perform the tasks day in, day out. They were happy times.

soop Tue 23-Feb-21 16:42:05

Now it is time to do something useful but not over strenuous. I wish you all a pleasant and peaceful evening. I hope that we can exchange news again tomorrow. smile moon

Grandmabatty Tue 23-Feb-21 18:01:08

The photos are lovely Soop. Fond memories. I have 'got my letter!!!' I shall be jagged on 12th March.

Urmstongran Tue 23-Feb-21 18:26:12

‘Evening All’
?

Lovely sunshine here today and we went out for a walk this afternoon.

soop I loved the photos! I assume you were both happily in retirement at this stage. ... spending your days (and weeks and months) putting your house up together! Such stamina. I salute you! Actually, the photo of you both where mr soop has you on one arm and his malt in the other was so sweet. I did happen to notice, ahem, that you’re wearing identical shoes?
?

I’m off to watch some BBC iPlayer. Hope everyone has a pleasant night ahead. x

‘Goodnight All’.

brook2704 Tue 23-Feb-21 18:39:02

What lovely pictures and memories soop and what a fantastic achievement to do all that work yourselves. One of my most favourite house types is a barn conversion - so interesting!
Such tragic news about your friends nephew, an awful thing to happen and so very sad - sending condolences ?

Puzzler61 Tue 23-Feb-21 18:53:21

Great photo’s soop and no wonder your home is so special to you both. You built it together for your “happy ever after” future.
Sorry for your friend’s family tragedy ?
Glad for you getting your vaccine date Grandmabatty. I hope to be next month too.
BladeAnnie are you still to wait until nearer your Special Day? I’m not sure if NS was specific for May? ?
Have a peaceful evening all.
