Good Morning Saturday 25th April 2026
HMRC slightly angry is an understatement

Good morning Mick from a very wet north Wales- norty LauraNorder has sent me her island rain ☔️ - how kind......haven’t seen her here for a while either ?♀️
Finishing off the kitchen today so that I can cook proper meals from scratch rather than the freezer diving meals I’ve cobbled together for the last few days!
Hope little Iris op went well and more of you have your jabs - I’m already looking forward to my second!
Will pop along later to read about your bizziness x
Good Morning all from Severnside. Although it’s warmer rain is falling and will not be a nice day.
Bed changing and cleaning with a slow cooker meal to do for later. I keep having that advert for Quorn as my ear worm. The man who changes his mind from meat and veg to liking Quorn and veg.
I started to feel out of sorts just after teatime so I went and changed into my nightie and dressing gown and took some paracetamol. So far this morning I feel better apart from my arm feeling a little heavy. Hope all went well for your vax Urm and the same for anyone else having theirs.
Take care everyone ?
Morning Mick, Pantglas and all who follow from a mildish south coast - 9.8c at 6am. Forecast showers this morning then
this afternoon - at last!
Busy day yesterday with everything on the agenda done and dusted. Today is back to normal with waiting for something to turn up. I do have some admin to do so will knuckle down to that when DH goes for a bike ride with his chum.
Hope Iris is recovering well from her latest op and is soon home again. Thinking of Gilly still and our other missing GNs.
Have as good a day as possible everyone. Spring is most definitely on its way.
Morning Beechnut. I was in Beech house at Grammar school so am always reminded of that when I spot your posts!
Good morning Mick and all from a rainy, dark Wiltshire. Yesterday I finished getting one half of the lambing shed finished so the ewes due in the first week of lambing (the ‘yellow bums’ due to the colour of the raddle used on the rams for the first week of tupping) have all come in, along with all the triplet-baring ewes. I think they were pretty glad to get in out of the rain and muddy fields.
Amy the cow calved yesterday - she’s a good old girl so popped it out with no fuss and the calf was on its feet and suckling within 15 minutes - that’s the way to do it! I hope the ewes were taking note!!!
Today I need to get our little caravan cleaned and kitted out as, once the lambs start arriving, I’m off on my holidays............ 2 weeks caravanning in the lambing shed! ? I need to be on hand to check on the ewes throughout the night as I have no night-time help due to Covid this year so it’s easier to move in with the sheep than to have to keep going backward and forwards to the farmyard. I’ll post a photo of my ‘des res’ in due course! No doubt I’ll have the company of the odd lamb in there at times!
Thank you for the kind comments I’ve had from grans that are enjoying hearing about farming life. It’s nice to be able to share the good news and bad from the farm.
Wishing you all a happy, if damp, day. Roll on the sun!
Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is wet and windy.
Apart from a sore, heavy feeling arm, I am ok now.
Supermarket day today, I just like to get it over and done with as quickly as possible.
I hope Iris' operation went well and that she will be home soon.
Enjoy your day whatever you get up to and stay safe xx
Good morning fro E Kent, grey and damp this morning. We’re promised wind later. I wish the weather would be a bit sunnier ☀️, it does lift the spirits up!
Iris’ operation took about 2 hours and she’s back on the ward; a bit groggy and wobbly but fine. I’ll let you know more when I know myself. Thank you for your prayers, they mean so much to us.
Market day today. Might get some meat from the farmer, flowers from another stall. Nothing day again.
May today bring relief to all who need it. Stay safe. ???❤️
Thank you for all your news sheep, your life is so much more worthwhile than people like me, living on the fringes of a town, having no real purpose.
Good morning all from North Leicestershire. The weather is quiet and not too cold.
We gave a few things to do this morning: collecting some curtains that have been altered, dropping off some books at my friend's house, collecting the ones she will have left out for me, going to the egg farm and getting back in time for a Sainsbury's delivery. Riveting stuff!
Sending love and strength to everyone with worries today.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is warmer than of late and quite windy.
I got the nod to book my vaccine yesterday so I am booked in for Tuesday morning. I am only 53 with a mild underlying condition so I can’t help but think that the reason we are flying through the vaccine program in our town is that we have a very large BAME (?) community and people are not taking it up, I would like to know the facts on that.?
Work today and back to the busy grindstone after my day off yesterday.
I hope everyone can find a smile today and has the best day possible?❤️
Good morning to you all from a wet Torbay but we hope for brighter skies later. (a bit like life at the moment!)
I hope grandMattie will appear soon with an update on Iris, who has been on my mind. Ah, she just has! Good to hear the latest on Iris and I think you have a very purposeful life, grandMattie!
Yesterday, I enjoyed my regular Zoom meeting with amdram friends (imaginatively known as Wednesday Club!) and they welcomed back DH after he’s missed a few sessions due to flaky WiFi. He donned a bow tie in honour of the occasion!
I have a Click and Collect from Asda at 9.00am so had better get a wiggle on! A reason to go out beyond my immediate locale is welcome, although it’s only a couple of miles.
Have the best day you can, everyone, and take it gently if recovering from the vaccination. ?
grandMattie. Everyone has a purpose, if you think you haven’t, you just haven’t found it yet.❤️❤️
Good morning all from Derbyshire where it's currently dry.
I took DH for his jab yesterday - so far no ill effects, although he's still asleep so I can't get the latest update yet. I enjoyed popping in a couple of food shops whilst waiting for him.
I'm about to go for my main shop but am a bit later than usual as I struggled to wake up and could have easily gone back to sleep.
Pleased to hear all went well with Iris. Hope the missing posters are ok.
Have a good Thursday all.
Sorry everyone. Feeling a bit low and useless. ?
gM, you warm and inform the hearts and minds of many of us here. Could that be just a flickering of a purpose? I find your contributions moving and impressive.
Good morning all from a damp S Hants, rain due this morning. Good news on Iris GrandMattie, another op ticked off. sheepandcattle busy, busy, I’m so slothful compared to your life, I love your updates, thank you. I’m up early and off to the farm shop in about 20 minutes, it opens at 7:30 and will be quiet when I get there.
Magic text came yesterday for vaccine next Wednesday, about all that did happen, it rained all day. Wondering where EV is, hoping all is ok.
Wishing you all a gentle day, thoughts with those struggling, hoping a little ? enters your Thursday.
Good morning Mick and All.
Cloudy day here in South Bucks.
So pleased things seem to be going in the right direction for your Iris grandMattie.
Woke at silly o’clock, drinking tea at 5.30 with my Kindle.
Another thrilling day of doing nothing other than knocking back the antibiotics and completing my Spanish lesson.
Good morning Mick ans all
Grey with a soft breeze here in S E Essex, rain is forecast.
grandMattie sounds as if you are having a wobbly day, hopefully positive news about Iris later will lift your spirits ?
No plans for today (there’s a surprise) I shall look in the freezer for tonight’s meal.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️
Tried to send this privately but it seems that PM's are still not working. ?
I’m sorry you’re feeling a bit low, grandMattie, which isn’t surprising after this long Winter of nothingness. Although the vaccination roll out lifted spirits, we still have some way to go to achieve anything approaching normal life.
In that time, you have been an absolute stalwart, both on Gransnet and for your family, especially young Iris who seems to have inherited her grandmother’s resilience. Your support to Mick and others on the Good Morning thread has been constant and you were instrumental in keeping it going when he was in hospital.
It’s good that we can be open about our feelings on this thread and know that there are always folk ready to listen and to support. I hope the lengthening days and the other signs of Spring will lift your spirits as you have further news of Iris' recovery.
Keeping you in my thoughts. ?
Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. Temperature due to reach double figures later. I'd prefer crisp and sunny than mild and damp.
Thursday night is Jay's online quiz with the family, otherwise another lockdown day of not much.
Good morning, its wet and wild here in Glasgow, but the good news is that its 8°C.
Today I plan to do nothing! That was the plan yesterday, but as the best laid plans etc. I'm still a bit yukky, to say the least.
For the first time in a year, we had an electrician in and I was a teeny bit nervous, to say the least.
When we moved here twenty eight years ago, my two friends ( friends long before that) across the road and I got security lights installed. Everything now needs renewed, so we are having lights installed under the eaves. We did a fair bit of renewing a few years ago, when we built the extension, then lockdown came. However, we noticed a dark spot, where it would be easy for me to fall and as I have been also waiting for months for DH to fix the light at the door, I asked the electrician to put in a new one as well.
The Ebay queen's work was completed and it looked great last night.
Later last night the phone rang, it was the Ebay queen alerting me to the fact that there was a fire engine outside my house! Now you know that I do like a man in uniform! ?
There was certainly a lot of curtain twitching, I can tell you.
The first station is a just few minutes along the road from us and we told my friend that they had spotted her house, lit up like Blackpool illuminations and thought it was on fire! ? We still don't know why the firemen were here.
My son also arrived, which was a shock. He seems to be regretting his actions during the the summer and is softening, but I am extremely wary still.
I won't bore you with the details, but any Catholics reading this may smile at the fact that his visit involved Click and Collect ashes for Ash Wednesday! In fact there was a fair amount of click and collecting going on in the cul de sac!!
I love to hear about you all going to the market for eggs, flowers etc. We have nothing like that here, even before the pandemic and I do love a good market!
GM, I'm sure you will feel better once you hear how Iris is. As for EV, I do know HQ have been "busy" again, one poster is having an enforced break, perhaps EV is keeping her company.
Thinking of all our friends on this thread, who are finding life incredibly tough just now. Always in my thoughts and prayers. ?
Good morning from Shropshire.
grandMattie,so pleased to hear Iris’s operation went well.Wishing her a speedy recovery.
I agree with others that you have a purposeful life. You are a wonderfully supportive grandmother to Iris and her sister.
I think too often we feel we have to be more than we are but being there for family is actually a big deal.Your adult children and grandchildren know your door, well your phone line at the moment is always open to them.?
Have a good day all.
Good morning mick and all from Inverness where it’s a grey start to the day but not raining - yet!
Pleased to hear Iris is doing ok after her op Grandmattie but sorry to hear you’re feeling down ?
Nothing much to do again today, I did a big shop yesterday so the fridge and freezer is well stocked. I’ll be going for a walk somewhere, just to get outside and some fresh air. I always enjoy my walks and try to notice something different each time.
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning everyone. It's grey, drizzly but a not unpleasant 8°c in the Gower.
I've posted so intermittently since the turn of the year but I do still think of you all, I've just been having so many bad seizures I've stopped being able to think straight and have spent a lot of time sleeping.
I'm pleased that Iris has had her latest operation and is recovering on the ward grandMattie ?
Sending a hug to Auntieflo and Georgesgran ?
Great to hear that so very many of you have had your first vaccine and that some, like Pantglas are looking forward to having your second ?
❤️ to you all
