Hello everyone

Seeking suggestions for some new perfume.
I really like VERY strong scent but can’t seem to find any modern perfumes which are ‘heavy’.

Used to drench myself with Ester Lauder Youth Dew by the bucketful?... but the older perfumes seems stale and fusty, to me now.
Thanks ❤️☘️

Can't stand Youth Dew .I would have to leave the room. But have recently found an old perfume Mitsouko Not heavy but subtle.

Basil and Neroli by Jo Malone or anything by Tom Ford

I have rediscovered Panache , used to be by Lentheric, but the name has changed ,it’s still the same lovely warm smell I used to love in the 80,s

I always used to like white linen by Estée Lauder.

Are you on Mumsnet Odette?

The perfumistas on the S&B forum are very knowledgable and helpful. They are currently on thread 29 so lots of resource to pull from .

They helped me find a new perfume when I told them that I loved Tom Ford Oud Wood . They suggested several and I managed to try them all out with and settled on Marrakech by Aesop.

I had a bottle of Chanel for Christmas, that might do the trick. Jo Malone has launched a new range Jo Loves. Very unusual scents, vegan.

Jo Malone amazing choices, give them a sniff when you can.

Are people still wearing (strong) perfume at the moment? Where? At home or at the supermarket? confused

I asked for my favourite perfume for Xmas, having been without it for a long time. I spray every day, just for my own pleasure. It reminds me of special occasions, of socialising. I use Issy Mijaki.

BlueSky I wear perfume every day. In fact I'm more inclined to wear it at home than when I'm out (back in the day).
I definitely wear it for myself.
I like really strong perfume when the mood takes me. My favourite is Poison (the original one). I can't stand Opium though.
When I worked with little children I didn't wear any perfume at all for fear of it upsetting their more sensitive sense of smell.

BlueSky I wear perfume everyday just as I have always done . The same as daily showering, hair washing etc . Why ever not ?

The only time I haven’t worn it was when I worked with severely autistic young people .

Joy by Jean Patou. Favourite of Jackie Kennedy.

I'm another who wears it every day. A newly acquired perfume I've been wearing is quite strong, Ylang Ylang, Floral Street. I also wear Jo Malone's Blackberry and Bay, I like many of her fragrancies but they do fade quickly. My favourite and has been for a few years is Eau de Merveilles Hermes. Also love timeless Channel No 5 and Coco.

I'm a big fan of Avon perfumes too, thanks to The Friendly Perfumistas of Mumsnet. I particularly like Little Black Dress and Far Away. And they are ridiculously cheap!

I remember dousing myself in Youth Dew in my teens, I still quite like it. I'd also nominate Mitsouko, first bought for me by late mother in law. I like it a lot, quite unique and distinct imo, and a bit peppery (I know what I mean, not light and floral) I think it might appeal to fans of Youth Dew

I agree with you about Avon Fanny . I wear Faraway Glamour and Attraction For Her . Amazing value and they last on the skin all day too , unlike Jo Malone that lasts for 5 minutes .

My every day perfume is Happy by Clinique. It is citrusy. And I'm another who wears perfume most days.

J52 Sun 21-Feb-21 09:24:58

Try 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden.

GagaJo Sun 21-Feb-21 09:27:45

I used to love Tendre Poison. A green smelling scent. It was discontinued a few years ago though.

I like citrus smells, ideally lime, but have never found a perfume I really like again. L'Occitane Verbena is OK but doesn't really completely hit the spot.

Dorsetcupcake61 Sun 21-Feb-21 09:30:55

It's a bit of a Marmite one but I love Angel by Mugler. My current favourite is L'Interdit by Givency. I wear perfume for my own pleasure and certain scents are very evocative of happy times. The Givenchy takes me back to a very happy holiday a few years ago.
Avon are good for everyday use.

Funny how we all like different ones. I was given a big bottle of Chanel no 5 years ago and I thought it was vile and chucked it out but I know others love it.

Redhead56 Sun 21-Feb-21 09:49:23

Victor and Rolf flower bomb is intense and long lasting its gorgeous.

LadyGracie Sun 21-Feb-21 09:56:39

I was sent a sample of Fleur Musc by Narciso Rodriguez when I bought my SIL some aftershave on line. I loved it and bought myself a bottle, I have it on now, go on have a big sniff, lovely isn’t it?

Perfume every day for me too - Obsession. Quite strong and a quick spritz lasts a long time. X
