Can someone please enlighten me in letting me know what was wrong in Harry and meghan saying "service is universal"? Surely it is. We also like to help each other and provide a service to each other when we can, that's what I'd like to believe anyway. Isn't this what they meant? There's seems to be a lot of H & M bashing again over this, however, it's all gone quiet over Prince Andrew's alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl. Am I missing something?

Charles: Anyway you know that's the sort of thing one has to beware of. And sort of feel one's way along with - if you know what I mean.

Camilla: Mmmm. You're awfully good feeling your way along.

Charles: Oh Stop! I want to feel my way along you, all over you and up and down you and in and out...

Camilla: Oh!

Charles: Particularly in and out!

Camilla: Oh. that's just what I need at the moment.

Charles: Is it?

(At this point the scanner enthusiast speaks over the couple to record the date Scanner Enthusiast: December 18th)

Camilla: I know it would revive me. I can't bear a Sunday night without you.

Charles: Oh, God.

Camilla: It's like that programme Start the Week. I can't start the week without you.

Charles: I fill up your tank!

Camilla: Yes, you do

Charles: Then you can cope.

Camilla: Then I'm all right

Charles: What about me? The trouble is I need you several times a week.

Camilla: Mmmm, so do I. I need you all the week. All the time.

Charles: Oh. God. I'll just live inside your trousers or something. It would be much easier!

Camilla: (laughing) "what are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers?

Both laugh

Camilla: Oh, You're your'e going to come back as a pair of knickers.

Charles: Or, God forbid a Tampax. Just my luck! (Laughs)

Camilla: You are a complete idiot (Laughs) Oh, what a wonderful idea.

Charles: My luck to be chucked down the lavatory and go on and on forever swirling round on the top, never going down.

Camilla: (Laughing) Oh, Darling!

Charles: Until the next one comes through.

Camilla: Oh, perhaps you could come back as a box.

Charles: What sort of box?

Camilla: A box of Tampax, so you could just keep going.

Charles: That's true.

Camilla: Repeating yourself...(Laughing) Oh, darling I just want you now.

Charles: Do You?

Camilla: Mmmmm

Charles: So do I!

It’s so wrong this tape was made public ,I felt so sorry for them , felt sorry for Diana and Gilby too when the Squidgy tape was made public

Iam64 Mon 22-Feb-21 08:21:14

Who ever believed that their wish to Live a life outside the RF meant This couple would buy a cottage in the Cotswolds? They have to earn a good living in the US. That would obviously mean using their public image.
It’s curious how much anger and disdain is directed at them by some people.

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 08:27:59

How can using their public image match with wanting privacy?

And what is their public image ? member of the royal family they have chosen to opt out of

Galaxy Mon 22-Feb-21 08:29:27

Because that's the dilemma that lots of famous people face. It's not unusual.

merlotgran Mon 22-Feb-21 08:32:20

That would obviously mean using their public image

That's what some of us have a problem with, Iam.

Without their royal connections there would be no public image to use.

They need to earn a lot of money. I can just about stomach the sanctimonious preaching but I feel the Oprah interview is a step too far.

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 08:36:50

Without their royal family connection they would not have a
public image, a retired soldier and a tv actress !

Galaxy Mon 22-Feb-21 08:41:43

But so what. Lots of people have fairly tenuous reasons for fame.

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 08:48:49

Would a retired soldier and a tv actress be interviewed by Oprah ?

Sarnia Mon 22-Feb-21 08:59:22

That sentence is borderline insolent, in my view. The Queen has stripped Harry of his military titles and I hope she goes the whole way and strips them of the Royal titles as well. They have made up their minds to live in the US so let them get on with it as plain Mr & Mrs Windsor. Whenever I see those 2 sitting next to each other pontificating to us lesser mortals, I feel that Meghan has her hand up the back of Harry's jacket, pulling his strings. Gottle of geer!

Galaxy Mon 22-Feb-21 09:06:05

But they were members of the royal family. Lots and lots of people are interested in that.

suziewoozie Mon 22-Feb-21 09:08:22

Anniebach

Would a retired soldier and a tv actress be interviewed by Oprah ?

Well clearly the answer to this is yes.

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 09:10:48

true , so they are trading on being members of a family they have cut off from and not because of anything of interest they
have done in their lives ,

Sarah48 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:12:51

Are soldiers, actresses / Invictus games instigators not interesting?

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 09:15:27

Yes but for Oprah ?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:17:26

They haven’t left the family, they have left the family business.

I am surprised that so many people are happy to take what the media says on this couple as gospel ?

Calendargirl Mon 22-Feb-21 09:18:18

After reading through this thread, last night I watched a You Tube clip of Meghan walking down the aisle on her wedding day, just to remind myself of that day, when the sun shone and everything looked bright, full of hope and such joy.

Harry’s face, as she processed down the aisle to that glorious Welsh soprano singing, was a picture of a man who just could not believe his luck, finding his soulmate and life partner to share his future.

Such a short time ago really, yet how things change.

And to those who think the RF wanted her out, you only have to look at the support that was there on that day, William, Charles, the Queen and DofE, all bending over backwards to make her, her mother and her personal guests more welcome, accepted, included than at any other Royal wedding.

Anniebach Mon 22-Feb-21 09:21:40

GrannyGravy no one can leave a family , I should they are estranged from the family

Galaxy Mon 22-Feb-21 09:21:47

They have moved to a different country thousands of people do it. They are using their life experience, they would be mad not to in my view. I suppose it depends on your view of the royal family, I have always seen it as a minor soap opera which I know some people will find disrespectful.

Polarbear2 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:30:12

Agree Galaxy. Not worth getting het up about. Good luck to them. It’ll all change when Chas takes over anyway. He’s in favour of streamlining the RF so HM are just getting ahead of the game.

Alegrias1 Mon 22-Feb-21 09:31:08

So stick with me on this....

My FiL used to get quite agitated about Tony Robinson being politically active and doing documentaries on TV. As far as FiL was concerned he was an actor and should have stuck to being Baldrick. If he was still around today no doubt he'd be mystified by Tracy Brabin MP. She was in Coronation Street for goodness sake!

So Meghan can do whatever she likes with her life, if you don't like it, well tough. Harry may have been born a Prince but it seems he was a pretty good soldier and if his only legacy is the Invictus Games, then he'll have done something positive.

Sorry to be repeating myself, but pretending to know how the Queen and the rest of the RF feel about anything is just projecting your feelings on to them.

merlotgran Mon 22-Feb-21 09:33:18

Sarah48

Are soldiers, actresses / Invictus games instigators not interesting?

Not for 90 minutes, they're not.

merlotgran Mon 22-Feb-21 09:36:04

They certainly need to make hay while the sun shines because when Charles is king, William will be Prince of Wales so Duchy of Cornwall money will be for his own heirs.

Harry will be out of the equation.

NellG Mon 22-Feb-21 09:40:47

Has the Queen "stripped" anyone of anything though? or is it just press hyperbole?

It's just as likely to imagine that HM, with heavy heart, took back the offices and roles that came with being a working member of the RF because the institution of the Crown could not allow them to be retained. Look at it that way and it puts a whole different light on it.

Ah right! So she stripped them. grin
