I wonder if her taste in furnishings matches her taste in men.

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 17:49:20

Each to their own in terms of decor and choices in men. How do you know this was taxpayers money?

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 02-Mar-21 17:52:37

Well, it cost me £3000 just to get my hall stairs and landing done and we bought the supplies, so for an old building it was probably a good price.

Bad taste in furnishings is the least of the reasons to criticise this Vote Leave government

Lucca Tue 02-Mar-21 17:59:12

I wonder if Meghan has one like that ?

Callistemon Tue 02-Mar-21 17:59:53

vegansrock Good choice, at least better than the cream sofa as any spilt red wine won't show so much!

wine wine wine

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:03:59

One should never spill wine Callistemon it's such a waste!!

grannypiper Tue 02-Mar-21 18:08:19

Oh my, you really wouldn't want to be drinking too much fizz in that room.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:09:27

This must be false news surely?

It looks like a brothel, or at least what I imagine one to look like?.

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:09:39

You'd struggle to distinguish the sofa from the wall behind it when you wanted to sit down wouldn't you grannypipergrin.

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:16:08

So is it her taste that you have an issue with, the amount spent, her taste in men or all 3 vegansrock?

Esspee Tue 02-Mar-21 18:20:08

It has to be all three surely.

MissAdventure Tue 02-Mar-21 18:21:05

It looks as if Lurch is about to open the door and say "You rang?"

Each to their own though.

I'm obviously not vegansrock, but my answer would be 'yes' to all three. grin

That is an appalling bit of interior decorating....

MaizieD Tue 02-Mar-21 18:24:30

It's very 'grannyish'.

Is the 80's, wall to wall Laura Ashley/William Morris, back in fashion?

Smileless2012 Tue 02-Mar-21 18:24:44

It is rather shocking I agree Maizie

I remember that Dominic Cummings had a lot of support here on Gransnet, both for his 200 mile trip during a pandemic lockdown and for his 30 mile trip to test his eyesight with a four year old in the car. All sorts of excuses were made for him. But I do feel that since he is no longer advising the Prime Minister, and Cary Symonds has more influence, the decisions taken by Boris Johnson have been greatly improved. I am no fan of any of them, but in a choice between Cummings and Symonds, she seems to have more sense, just not a very good eye for interior design, if this is an example.

The article I’ve found, Daily Mail states probably funded by Tory Donations, sorry, can’t seem to link.

GagaJo Tue 02-Mar-21 18:50:51

That surely can't be true? Really? This is a spoof, isn't it?

Aveline Tue 02-Mar-21 19:04:39

Well I quite like it. It's just a corner of a room. I wonder what the rest's like.
We always seem to hear about how the White House is decorated by the latest incumbent but not so much about No 10.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 02-Mar-21 19:05:18

The photo shown in the OP is of other work done by the designer that CS has chosen to do the redecorating. Not what has been chosen.

Ha ha MaizieD - I had a friend who loved the Edwardian Lady’s Country Diary floral look and had her bedroom walls papered, bedspread, pillows, lampshades and the frilly curtains to match.

All this on top of a Wilton floral carpet in similar colour and she was most put out when I warned her not to buy a matching nightdress in case her husband never found her again!?

The saying "there's no accounting for taste" is very true.
However, what source tells you/us that the taxpayer has paid £10,000 for this particular example of decor? Where did they get their figures and information from?

JaneJudge Tue 02-Mar-21 19:17:36

it does look a bit like she might have a crystal ball somewhere up the other corner

JaneJudge Tue 02-Mar-21 19:18:22
