❤️ it. In the Sunday Telegraph:

“BRUSSELS must stop sulking over the UK’s decision to leave the European Union and work to make Brexit a success, Boris Johnson’s Europe adviser says today.

Lord Frost says the EU should “shake off any remaining ill will towards us for leaving, and instead build a friendly relationship, between sovereign equals”.

At last, a lighthearted political thread.

I can't find anything light hearted about the rapid decline of the UK from being a well respected state which had some value in the world to being a rogue state which has not only deliberately engineered its economic decline, but also is marking itself as completely untrustworthy in international relations.

All to vanquish a non existent bogeyman.

A bit OTT to describe the U.K. as a ‘rogue state’ MaizieD!

I can think of a few countries where that description would be a lot more apt.

In case anyone’s making assumptions, I did vote Remain, though holding my nose to some extent, since I’ve never been a blind worshipper of the EU and all who sail in her.

Really?

With a government reeking of corruption, led by a lifelong liar who is prepared to break international law and renege on supposedly binding treaties?

You don't have to have been a blind worshipper of the EU to appreciate the advantages of remaining in it. This is being made devastatingly clear to large sections of the business community and the arts. And to ordinary consumers when they try to buy from an EU based business or send gifts to friends and relatives in the EU.

It makes me wonder if Frost, Gove etc actually read the agreement they signed. The EU is insisting that we stick to the deal we signed, which is not unreasonable. Meanwhile trade declines massively with our nearest neighbours and nobody is exactly queuing up to do wonderful deals with us. Exactly as forecast.
